Freehand Los Angeles

It’s good spot to stay in if your choosing the bunk beds rooms. Their Rooms were very clean , The staff Is very welcoming , and it’s in the center of downtown so you don’t have to walk far for food or entertainment. Trust me I’m black man and I’m vouching for em so you know it’s real .

I had an impromptu staycation and decided to try out the Freehand for the first time after having visited locations in NYC and Miami. Chris, the front desk agent who checked me in, was super kind, warm, and even gave me a comp upgrade to a high floor room with a skyline view! The decor was lovely and I can't wait until Covid is gone so I can return and enjoy the beautiful lobby and rooftop bars! Overall service and room was enjoyable and I would recommend.

I booked a King Room with a Skyline View for a staycation for my girlfriend's birthday. The hotel is nice and the room was very nice but the heater did not work. We turned it on as soon as we got there around 3:30pm and noticed it was not any warmer two hours later. I tried calling front desk twice, no answer. I went down and let them know and they said "it takes a while" which I replied "Its been two hours already" so they had the technician troubleshoot remotely/digitally. An hour later, still no increase in temp. So they said it could be the filter. They came up and replaced the filter, in front of me, which I got to see a very disgusting filter. Several hours later, the temp went up maybe 3 degrees. Tired of dealing with it that night, we let them know in the morning that it never worked and all they said was "we will make a note". I called today and they said all they could do was return my facility fee of $17. I grew up in Las Vegas and maybe I am spoiled from a hospitality driven town, but this while also being in a pandemic where they probably are not seeing a lot of guests, just left me with a very bad taste in my mouth. In a time where our dollars are becoming more focused, I would not spend them again here.

I like the old look of the building and surrounding buildings viewed from the room window. The room itself, did not have an entirely old feel, but it was hip and contemporary. Did not have access to ice. I love DTLA, so this was a nice place to stay, surrounded by many restaurants. Unfortunately was not able to experience the rooftop bar and pool due to Covid restrictions. I would return.

Terrible place where you have to share your room with strangers.

Solid hotel in downtown LA. elevator requires key, that means no food delivery directly to your door. Main bedroom lights are on sensor and turn off when you're not moving / in bed watching TV.. Annoying. Very little counter space in bathroom. Overall tho I like the vibe of the hotel and the bed is very comfy. Plush robes and slippers are a nice touch too

Horrible. First off there’s no parking. In downtown LA. That’s a joke. I had to carry my bags through a piss smelling parking structure like a teenager. Then the first room they gave me was a closet not suitable for a hostel. I asked to be switched and they did, but the front door still banged into the bathroom door. The whole hotel is dark, cold, menacing and unfriendly feeling. The front desk flatly refused to give me a free late checkout of one hour despite it being empty due to covid and me explaining I had a work call. They changed their mind and called back but the damage was done.

Loved everything about this place. It’s right in the middle of the city, lots of food choices, metro is 8 minutes away. I’ll definitely return!

Look clean and nice interior style, thought the rug felt damp the entire time.
