The Griya Villas and Spa

Beautiful view, beautiful hotel design. But the hotel condition was not very good, especially from some details. For example, the hair dryer had a loose joint - it can’t stay up straight. The welcome fruits had large black spots or already bad. The TV doesn’t function well - many channels had frozen picture. They use sliding doors - good aesthetic design, but it can’t be closed tight. So the sound isolation was bad. The band in the bar was playing until 10:30pm and we couldn’t go to sleep until they finished. I tried to call front desk at 10pm but no one answer.

The Griya is a collection of villas a 5min car ride from Amed or Lipa beach. They market themselves as a 5* property so the review will be a little more stringent given their prices and expectations. We got a large 2 double bedrooms villa with a huge private pool. The second bedroom was closed and we couldn't use it. The room is very large and has a nice sized bathroom with a large tub. The bed, linen and towel quality were very good. You are given towels for the pool too. The larger villa comes with a living area (kitchen, utensils, dining table, sofa and tv) that can be closed. The pictures on the website are quite in line with what you will get (even roses on the bathtub!) If you are a fan of sunbathing note that the villas are looking the opposite way and you will have some sun in the morning but will be in shade in the early afternoon. However, since this is a 5* hotel they may want to check a few details that may bother the most stringent travellers: the first morning I noticed the bedsheets had not been changed from the previous guests (or were just dirty with stains), the doors on the living area could not be opened showing a lack of maintenance, the breakfast was noting special and the last morning during check out the manager was simply rude or uninterested on asking for any feedback (a strange thing as Balinese are extremely polite and serviceable). There are a few restaurants not far from the hote at night do not forget a flashlight! Wifi was spotty.

Amazing resort. The villas are stunning with your own pool and lounge area. The view over the bay is beautiful. The staff were very polite and friendly The restaurant had a large selection and everything we tried was tasty. The rooftop bar had stunning views and a good happy hour. We would definitely return.
