Hotel Altavilla

This hotel is really very tired and I would have rated it lower but for its very low cost of our stay. My wife and I spent 4 nights here on our first visit to Rome and spent as much time as possible, out and about seeing the sights so as a place just to sleep, it fulfilled its purpose. Rooms and bathroom very small. No hot water in the bathroom on our first morning but sorted for the rest of our stay once we had complained. Breakfast is just fresh bread and jam, cereal, coffee and juice which was OK but served in a basement dining area accessed via a steep staircase. One small elevator serves as access between lobby and bedroom floors above. Staff were all very good. The location is good within a few mins walk of Termini Station and the Metro or, about 25mins walk down hill to the colosseum. Lots of restaurants and dining choices nearby.

Convenient location close to Termini station and walking distance to some attractions such as colosseum, forum, etc. WiFi works well in the room. Checkout time is at 11am and we were not allowed to extend any additional time. Hotel is simple but can be a good option to stay a short time and pay a good price.

The place needs new beds. It felt like I was sldeping on springs all nigbt. This place charges city tax per person per night seemed shady.

Friendly reception staff, basic hotel but very reasonable rates so you can’t complain, we were only looking for somewhere to sleep so weren’t bothered! Free breakfast is a nice addition, however you have to get the there early to get anything as there’s not much there! Overall pleasant stay, we were able to walk to all of the places without the need of public transport, easy walking distance from train station so definitely best to get the direct train from Fuimicino Airport to Termini.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and it was the worst nights we’ve ever had. First we were welcomed with a very old and nasty smell in the room. Then the heater never seemed to be on at all as the room was always very cold and had to ask for more blankets. No wonder I got ill and had to spend the whole day resting at the hotel. The bed was horrible, it gave both my husband and I backaches because it was so stiff and uncomfortable. The breakfast was terrible, they only had pastries which was very dry and stale. Hot and cold drinks were all tasteless. It was a dreadful experience overall. Honestly, don’t waste your money by staying at this hotel!!

Convenient location, friendly staff and was able to check-in earlier

close to city centre and termini stations. A bit noisy at night with traffic, depending on which side of the hotel your window is.
