Hotel Monterey Sendai

Excellent hotel!

The sday was excellent. The TV in the room was too small and did mot work properly

It was very close to the train station, yet still quiet. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

An enjoyable stay, an improvement over the last hotel I stayed at in Sendai. A classic, cozy style that isn't really seen anymore. Probably had the widest breakfast buffet selection I have seen. The room was comfortable and roomy. Something I had never seen before was the "Handy" smartphone that came with the room, and found it useful during our stay. The hotel also felt secure, when you get to your floor it requires the keycard in order to leave the elevator area. My only issues I had were the room's electrical outlets were run-down and my device chargers would not stay in the sockets and charge.

Very clean! Can leave baggage, convenient location, a lot of izakaya restaurant and walking distance to station and shopping street

Monterey Easy to find, close to the station and straight forward checkin. Room was comfortable with room for two chairs and a small table! Quaint old world decor. Don’t be swayed by the alluring photo of the spa, it does cost extra ( as in the fine print) and is closed one day per month for cleaning ( the day we had here), and they limit numbers but not very clear about how that works. Otherwise a comfortable stay. There are plenty of eating options nearby. We had a day trip to Matsushima, and a boat ride around the bay. Keep an eye out for the flood line from the 2011 tsunami as you walk around to the jetty.

I loved the aesthetic of the hotel, it felt very upscale and fancy. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone.

The hotel is opposite JR station & takes only a few minutes to walk to. - Reasonably good room size for its price range & Japanese standard - Typical services & facilities from the Monterey hotel chain - Nice breakfast, nice dining area decor - Good bedroom room decor - Clean bathroom - Good location, close to transport, restaurants, shopping - Nice bed, quiet room - Room aircond was centrally controlled & not much could be adjusted in room. It's way too hot for our liking even though we had lower the temperature to 21 degrees Celsius. It looked like that the aircond thermostat didn't work at all. We finally had to switched off the aircond (& even opened the window to cool the room & get some fresh air) - One would expect that the onsite onsen fees are included in the room rates or charged per day - it is charged per visit

Good location, room size, staff etc. Only downside is hotel decor/ design. Hotel is themed on early 19th century- furniture, paint, flooring etc. Which is fine if you like that stuff- we noted a lot of weddings here. However my kids found it all “ old and creepy”. I guess they prefer “ modern “ decor.

Not far away from the Sendai Station. Room a bit dated. We were looking forward to using the onsen after many hours of flight and train journeys. We were told at the reception that the cost for using onsen is 1,100 yen per person. It is open from 11am to 11pm (last entrance 10pm). Remembering that we were paying 150 yen per person for onsen in our previous trips for other hotels, if needed to pay extra, and furthermore, the hour of using the facility is rather short/restricted, we decided to forgo the onsen experience, though feeling disappointed. By the way, we did not have to pay any single cent extra for the use of onsen for the rest of the 5 hotels we stayed throughout our recent trip to Japan.
