Overall good stay - good COVID Measures in place Disappointed that there was a dirty towel on wardrobe on arrival -Soon rectified
Hotel in itself was nice, disappointing to have to pay £15 to park overnight but that is what it is. Breakfast was a strange affair with all the buffet laid out that you can't use yourself, the staff have to serve you and they will only do it once which isn't helpful when you have 2 kids with you that finish what they're eating and tell you they are still hungry. Again, I get it that it's all Covid and things arent normal but it doesn't mean I think it's right. We've stayed at other hotels recently and been able to serve ourselves to pre packaged items. Worst though was the cleanliness of the room. Masive dust bunnies on the floor between the beds, bits of food on the floor, and where red wine had been spilled down the TV / fridge unit, it was just dried on there all sticky - the room had obvioulsy not had the deep clean we are being assured that everywhere is getting at the moment so that was a little disconcerting in the current climate. Staff were friendly, food and drinks were nice, beds were comfortable and the bar area was very nice. Position of the hotel was very handy, 10 minute walk from M shed and the aquarium etc. Overall pretty good, but a little let down by a couple of things.
I don’t understand why the main picture on hotel.com is a picture of the pool. It didn’t say it was closed till we arrived. That’s all we went for. Of duty staff walking around without a face covering. 21:55 two chefs and a bar maid walking around without masks? At 09:55am I was woken by the cleaner asking me “you check out” again with no mask. My booking said check out by noon. Awful stay.
A great relaxing stay
Helpful, welcoming staff. Large comfortable rooms. Hotel in easy distance of attractions.
Very clean and slept great however parking was very limited
My partner and I made last minute booking to go away for a bank holiday. The Mercure was available at a reasonable price. The staff were friendly and the checking in process was smooth. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom was extremely spacious as well. The breakfast was okay. In view of the current pandemic, as health care professionals, we thought that there wasn't adequate distance between the tables and the restaurant felt over-crowded. The breakfast was a mixture of packaged/plated food and meals to order. The food, frankly, was very average and a bit bland. The coffee from the machine was terrible. The hotel 2 or 3 car parks. However, the car park was a nightmare. It was over-crowded, small and disorganized. We ended up parking at the NCP parking by the Bristol hotel which was a comfortable 7 min walk.However, limited street parking was nearby. The hotel location was great. It was a comfortable 5-10 min walk to downtown and was close to of the city's central attractions. Overall good experience but could do with some improvements to the restaurant and parking.
We booked to stay here for my partners 30th birthday and the hotel is in a great location with ample parking available. Unfortunately the hotel is in need of some decor updates and the hallways and room smell like musty old cigarettes. The bathroom floor grouting was dirty (wouldn’t stand in there bare foot!) and toilet flushing wasn’t great. the service was good although we didn’t ask for anything except check in and there are plenty of measures in place for COVID. I would recommend the hotel if you need somewhere to rest your head but it’s not recommended for a romantic stay
