The Sutton Place Hotel Halifax

Wonderful new upscale hotel. Our room was not the most spacious but was tastefully decorated with great views of downtown Halifax. We stayed there for New years. Staff was amazing both at the hotel and the in-house restaurant Chop. The food was great at Chop with generous servings. Parking was to be included in our stay but we have studded winter tires on our car, so we were not able to use the parking garage. Luckily we were able to find nearby parking outside that was also free-given that downtown was quiet this year. Would recommend this hotel.

The cons of this hotel are pretty few and far between. Previous to booking I was told there would be options that fit my dietary restrictions. When we went down for our reservation there was nothing we could have. The staff themselves were very nice and courteous and did were still able to make our night enjoyable. I think that really speaks to the staff. We had a dinner-less dinner and still had a great time. The room was beautiful and looked just like the pictures. One of the nicest rooms I’ve stayed in in a long time. From the 18th floor the view was lovely and really made the room feel special. The only thing that was off was the bathroom mirror was a bit dirty (tooth paste splatter or maybe dried cleaning product), and the shower door didn’t close properly so water got all over the floor every time we showered. We Personally didn’t like the pillows on the bed so I used the decorative the ones from the couch but that’s likely just our preference for small soft pillows rather than large firm ones. Everything else was perfect! The bed was incredibly soft, the couch was fantastic and all the little touches in the room were stunning. Again, I want to point out how amazing the front staff and the restaurant staff were. The front seat was so accommodating and friendly. I was blown away by the customer service. Rae was especially helpful and really made this stay feel special. I have high standard but I absolutely would recommend the Sutton Halifax to everyone!

We so enjoyed our stay at the Sutton. Very high end. Generous And helpful staff. Decor felt like classic Art Deco with a modern twist - beautiful! Can’t wait to stay there again.

The room and hotel overall were stunning to be greeted with upon arriving for our stay. Staff were helpful and friendly and enhanced the experience, providing detail into what services were offered. Our room itself was beautiful and modern with innovative lighting. We were able to control the temperature, lights, and speaker in the room through our mobile devices as to not have to even leave our bed. Everything was clean and convenient and we will definitely be booking again.

The hotel opened September 2020. The Decour it’s very upscale and impressive. Location amazing to the downtown Halifax area. There are amazing views both off in land scenery and harbour view. Did not have time to try the restaurant during this visit. Valet parking worked well. The only negative during my stay was controlling the temperature level in my room.

From the moment we checked in until the moment we left, the staff and service was impeccable. The hotel itself was impeccably decorated, extremely clean, and our room was beautiful and the bed was SO comfortable. We live 5 minutes away and wanted a staycation since we can’t travel and we’re so glad we chose this hotel. We will certainly be going back! Hopefully for 2 nights this time. I also wanted to note that the check-out time of 12:00pm is amazing!

On 3 different occasions staff mentioned the view from our room so we were so excited to get inside and see for ourselves but our only view was of glass of the building next door. Our shower had no hot water the shower head wasn’t installed correctly and our bathroom fan didn’t work. But it’s the bed that would prevent me from recommending this hotel to anyone - mattress is very very soft we both had a sore back and the pillows were so large we put on them on the floor and tried to sleep with none. The staff was dismissive when we expressed our disappointment. We were kept waiting for the valet to bring our vehicle for 35 minutes while we watched a staff member offer coffee or tea to everyone but us. By the time we drove away, we said to each other what a shame such a beautiful room and Such a horrible experience. Covid has made rates so affordable in our downtown there are established wonderful hotels at great rates don’t risk your experience on this new hotel -
