Comfort Suites

We didn't check in until 10pm. Upon entering the room, it was obvious it had never been cleaned from the prior guests. Went back to the front desk, she apologized and moved us to another room. At the door of the new room, our keys didn't work. Back to the front desk. Got new keys. Upon entering the room, it was in fact cleaner ( except for a bit of hair in the shower ) but it had only one bed when we requested 2 double beds ( as the original room had ). So we made due with my son sleeping on the pullout sofa.

Hotel seemed to be having staffing issues, on Sunday came down for breakfast at 8:30 am and there was nothing out except cold cereal, day old biscuits and English muffins. By 9, hot food was finally being made, thanks to the manager,unfortunately we were on our way out. Exit door on 2nd floor needs some work, slams pretty hard when closing and handle doesn’t turn well. Pool and hot tub were down for repair, would have liked that comment reflected in hotels.com site when making reservations.

The room itself was clean and nicely decorated. The only problems we had with the room was the fact that the fan in the bathroom sounded like a single-engine plane powering up to taxi, and WIFI was non-existent. It was easier to connect to the Culver's customer WIFI next door. The refrigerator, microwave, and TV worked fine. The breakfast was good - about what we've come to expect in hotels these days. Having said that, the hotel was obviously under construction: rolls of carpet laying around, and though we didn't use it, there was a sign that said the swimming pool was under construction. The employees we encountered were so-so. We arrived early, and were very rudely told that nothing would be available until after 3. When we checked in much later than 3, a different employee was polite enough, but failed to tell us anything about hotel amenities (breakfast, availability of coffee, etc.). After we went to our room, there was a smoke detector chirping outside of our room. We told the same employee about it, and she said she'd take care of it, but no one did. (We could hear other smoke detectors chirping as we walked down the hall). On the whole, it wasn't a bad stay, and we'd probably stay there again if nothing else was available. However, there are excellent hotel/motel choices within viewing distance of this one for roughly the same price, and we'd likely stay in one of those next time.

Nice people but the pool was under renovation.

This hotel is in some need of some help. I’ve been coming here for several years on a regular business trip to Stevens Point. It seems to just be in poor shape and kind of sad. I know that they have done renovations not too long ago, but its just worn down. Carpet (which I know isn’t that old) is tattered, furniture in the room is chipped and dated, lots of scuffs and dents on the drywall. Whoever decided to paint the rooms bold colors (red and gold) made some poor choices. This place just seems to have been ridden hard and it shows. Room set-up is decent, with the sleeping area separated from the seating area by a small wall. Bathroom is okay. The TV was tiny... one step up from a computer monitor. They’re flat. Screens, but who decided to order TVs that small for a hotel room?
