The Beach House - Panama City

The hotel itself was fair. No restaurant in the hotel but there are some nearby. The beach in the hotel photos is a patch of oily sand that is only exposed if the tide is out. We were told that the water is unsafe to swim in. The nearest real beach is over an hour drive to the west.

Hotel was nice, however on one of the days they forgot to clean the room. I would have liked to have at least the bed made and get fresh towels. I did ask the front desk for at least clean towels and because of the language barrier they didnt understand and could not get new towels.

Loud music ++++ - not sure from where which went on for hours and was very disturbing and disappointing. We wished that there had been a locking patio door in our room, would have felt safer. The staff were extremely helpful which was greatly appreciated in view of our limited spanish. Over all I enjoyed the stay. The biggest thing that detracted from the stay was that the pool was shared with the surrounding community at large. I expected a pool that was private to the hotel when they advertised a pool; that was misleading. Unfortunately that meant weekend were crowded with all kinds of people; it was like being at a YMCA pool in […] the summer. Not very relaxing. Also, the rooms need to be mopped daily. Sweeping does not remove the black sand from the floors and my feet were blackened just from walking on the ceramic floors. The staff were very nice. The hotel room was very nice and clean. The management and staff was nice and pleasant. The service was somewhat lacked in that they ignored the maid service tags hanging on the door. I asked not for maid service one day and they came in anyway. I had to ask them to mop the room floor and for toiletries. They were brought the next afternoon. The pool […] is a shared pool with the locals. The pool area is not kept well and in need of updates. There was no trash can near the pool area even though food was allowed. Alot of trash was on the floor around the pool and in the beach area. Speaking of the beach, it is an small inlet with muddy looking sand with trash around. I saw noone cleaning the pool or beach area during my week long stay. We rented a car and parked in the hotel's parking lot. To enter or exit the lot an armed guard had to unlock a huge chain. The guard was not happy and began arguing with us. We complaint to management who immediately spoke to him. The nearby restaurants had very good food. The shops, etc. was within walking distance and the local and touring buses are near by. So getting around from here is great. Most of the people do not speak much English. Pročitajte više

The rooms are great with very comfortable bedding. The television has cable and many stations even in English. You need a coupon for teh complimentary breakfast at teh nearby restaurant so be sure to ask for it. You also need a coupon to use the pool. We stayed at The Beach House for 4 nights on our recent trip to Panama. The hotel's staff were knowledgable and helpful. The rooms are modern, large and clean. The AC was great. The views from our room are also amazing. The surrounding neighborhood was easy walking distance to many good restaurants and ice cream parlors. The Beach House is the best location in Panama! Located in the middle of the causeway, near restaurants, the entrance of the canal, and convenient access to Panama City. The causeway becomes alive in the evenings and on weekends. It is a great location. Whether watching people or watching the ships enter the canal, or the local wildlife (local racoons […] come out at night), the Beach House has a view of it all. The local restaurant is fair but you can walk to many other restaurants along the causeway, which we did every evening. The causeway is also a great starting point as you venture out to other locations around Panama. Finally, the location provides the best view point back into Panama City, both during the daytime and at night. We will certainly be going back to the Beach Hotel on our next trip to Panama. Overall, this hotel is very nice. Nice views of Panama City (perfect for watching the New Year's fireworks) and the water. Clean and comfortable rooms - great beds, fluffy towels, etc. I have to admit I was let down by the description of the amenities though - there is an adjacent pool but it's open to the public for a fee, the "beach" is a tiny armpit […] in the corner of a marina. Also, the listing implies there are private pools in each of the rooms which is simply not true. Future guests should note that there are restaurants within walking distance, but hours of operation seemed somewhat restricted (could have been a result of it being the holiday season though). While perfectly friendly, it is easy to guess that the staff are relatively new to their jobs as they were largely unhelpful with questions. Pročitajte više

The hotel is more than 100% nice. The only one thing we did not like at all was the restaurant. It seems that the restaurant does not belong to the hotel. In fact, Panama is a very rainy country. The restaurant is around 50meters walking distance, but going from the hotel to the restaurant and vice versa in the middle of a heavy rain is a nightmare. […] So, please guys, find a solution to this issue. Well away from Caos and madness thats Panama City. will take you 15/20 mins to drive into center, but u will enjoy every second of the serenity before the Chaos. Open the sliding door at night and listen to the waves slowly slurp on the little beach. Las islitas tienen un ambiente muy agradable. Puedes caminar o alquilar bicicletas. Hay varios restaurantes buenos, recomiendo la pizzeria al horno a media cuadra del hotel. El hotel queda lejos del aeropuerto y ruido de la ciudad, un oasis dentro de la ciudad.

end February 2013 : rooms good and big and tidy. Breakfast simple. Check-in and check-out take quite long. Reception unable ? to make a local call - have to go back to the room. Pool almost in public - not too far away from road. On that constant traffic day and night - but not to be heard in the rooms.

It looked nice therefore we booked two nights and were looking forward to the stay. BUT: 1. the staff is unbelievable unfriendly and unprofessional 2. there was no way to sleep in both nights due to extremely loud techno music from the club nearby 3. the breakfast: bad and hardly enough to get full – a second cup of coffee only for extra charge, same […] for more toast or one more butter – incredible. A complain and comment about this was completely ignored. 4. staff enters room without knocking – finding me sitting on the bed – no apology, nothing 5. the pool is dirty and no fun to use – private beach: I did not see one If you are just a bit electro sensitive – you will enjoy the transmitter mast just 20 m away from the hotel. We are not spoiled and used to simple accommodation as well – but this hotel overall was the worst stay we had since a long time – not worth the money and no place to feel good nor to enjoy.
