Unfortunately air conditioning was not working and it took reception staff to acknowledge there was a problem before moving us to another room. "An adequate apartment, great value"
This place epitomizes the word average. There is nothing great about this place nor is there anything horrible. Our floor was very dirty. It wasn't visibile dirt or anything obnoxious but after walking around for half an hour, the bottom of my foot was black. Also had a few cigarettes in the cushions of our couch and neither of us smoke so I question […] how well things are cleaned. Location is fine. It's a 15 minute walk to a decent grocery store or you can go to the terribly overpriced convenience store a few minutes away. Pool was nice to swim in and check-in/check-out was pretty easy. I will probably never visit Cairns again because we live so far away but if we do come back, we probably wouldn't stay here again. It wasn't a bad stay but it wasn't great either. "Good value for money but not luxury"
I stayed here with my 3 children aged 23, 20 and 16. It was adequate for our needs as everything was covered but this is not the place for you if you need easy access to the centre of Cairns or any kind of luxury. The owner/manager was helpful especially when it came to booking trips. There was a shop near by too for immediate needs. It was a good 20 […] to 30 minutes walk to the main leisure area of Cairns and just less to the large supermarket. We had a balcony room overlooking the pool. The place was quiet and clean. There was a full size cooker as well as a microwave and a dishwasher. The washing machine and tumble dryer helped too. There was a range of cooking implements and at least 4 of everything e.g bowls/plates. These did not necessarily match. There were additional charges if anything was damaged. It appears you were put in one of our few remaining partly or unrefurbished units by the sounds of it as majority of our kitchens are brand new with decent crockery and utensils. Rest assured we are working towards renewing ALL kitchens within this hotel as part of our refurbishment program that has about 12-18 more months to run until completion. We have just refurbushed 2 more units this month. As for being a fair way away from everything, thats your personal perception, but we have restaurants, lots of take away shops and a large IGA supermarket within a few minutes walk from your front door and a lovely 7 minutes stroll to the esplanade. Some people choose to hire a car to tour around cairns and the table lands and to Port Douglas, a good percentage just walk around the city and have no issues without a car. Walking to the city centre takes about 20 minutes and you cantake in the great views along the way, but all depends on how fit you are and your abilities, everyone is different. We do not hide the fact that the walk into the city centre takes around 20 minutes, it is well advertised as is our position on the map of Cairns.

The staff greeted us when we arrived, after having to phone them to the counter. The beds - 2 singles were on rollers on a tile floor and would not stay in one place had to ruin a pair of shoes to stop the sliding, same with the double bed. Very poor. The lounge 2 x 2 seaters were uncomfortable and did not inspire to be used therefore a relaxing end […] of day was not had coupled with lack of sleep from the beds. The brochures in the office were 2008 which we didnt see when we started to book trips, so what we thought would cost us 160.00 ended up being 200.00 and so on. The internet can only be used between 9.00 - 5.00 that is if the staff are in the office, most often not. The staff were pleasant enough, but the experience could have been better. Odgovor: Tradewinds McLeod Holiday Apartments Thanks for your review, we are glad you seemed reasonably happy with our apartments and staff and sorry to hear about your shoes. Cups to put under the bed wheels are available at reception where one of our staff can assist you, we have sets for just this purpose when asked as most people actually prefer tiled floors over carpet and people request tiled units frequently. They are much more asthma friendly than carpet and able to be kept a lot cleaner. All our lounges are only around 12 months old, only one unit has older lounges, and I must assume you must have been in this unit, they are getting replaced later this year when this unit is fully refurbished. Brochures I cannot understand how they could be 2008 and is the first I have heard of it and we have majority of our guests booking tours at reception on a daily basis. We have a professional marketing company visit us fortnightly to maintain all our brochures as do all other hotels in Cairns. The only way they could be possibly out of date is in April where there is a 2 week period where tour operators adjust prices and all brochures are changed over and sometimes for a week, an overlap of old brochure prices with new prices occur which sometimes causes some issues you may have experienced. We offer high speed wireless internet throughout the complex with an internet computer in reception, unfortunately this computer is unavailable between 10am-2pm when staff are needed for room cleaning between departure and arrival of guests when reception is closed. We are always contactable via reception phone if you need any service or have any questions and can always spare a few minutes assisting you when needed.

The premises is located within easy walking distance of all the things a young family needs. The room was well fitted out and all quite new and very clean. The staff are friendly and warm and made us feel very welcome.
