I highly recommend this hotel, especially for multiple guests or lengthy stays. I stayed in a suite with a kitchen and bedroom for less than I often pay for a single room as small as the living area. Family with 2 kids: Great hotel especially for extended stays. The hotel is very quiet, clean and modern. Our suite contained a separate living room / bedroom and a fully equipped kitchen. "Nice enough, but not quite deserving of the 5s"
Booked this as a sleepover while passing through the area. The location is great if you want to make a trip to New Orleans without having to stay in the city. Have never stayed at a Homewood and chose it for all of the 5 star reviews. That set the bar too high, though. I expected better judging from the reviews, but it was a typical extended stay chain […] experience. The room is a nice size and the bed was clean and comfortable, but there was already some fairly good wear along the baseboards in the kitchen area, and the caulk in the shower was cracked, allowing a few small spots of mold to set in. There was also an odd red mark in the corner of the shower that I wasn't sure about. Moving the footrest in the living room area also revealed part of a candy wrapper, making me think the room wasn't as thoroughly cleaned as it could have been. Given its location I'm sure it gets a lot of volume, so it was I would have expected without the reviews, just not what I expected from what others said. It tucked away off of the Interstate, though, making it very quiet and there are plenty of shops, entertainment and places to eat (that are open late) nearby. We stayed one night with 7 people in a suite. Our suite was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The pool was fun and stocked with pool towels. This is a brand new facility. Every thing was neat and clean as of July 2012. A little under-staffed at 10:00 pm. However, the next morning there were more personnel, providing excellent service. "Absolutely wonderful!"
We had a mixup when we flew in and wound up not needing to stay the first night we were booked for- I called worried that we could lose our 2 rooms if we did not check in- I was assured that it was find and the gentalman I spoke to checked me in over the phone and told me that our rooms were ready for us whenever we arrived the next day. The staff was […] always so pleasant and willing to go out of their way to help us with anything that we needed. We had two children with our group and they absolutely loved the pool! The breakfast was nice, convenient and we had a nice vairety of items to choose from. We had seen pictures of the room prior to actually going and they looked nice but they were absolutely wonderful when we walked in. We felt so comfortable and at home the entire time. The location was also very convenient- it is close to so many different things and even our trip to New Orleans was an easy one and it didn't feel like it took very long at all! I spent 3 days in this very nice clean motel visiting family. The room was very clean and just right for what I needed. The only problem that I encountered was we had ants 2 days in a row. The first day they did come up and spray thought the problem was taken care of but we replaced our food and the little buggers came back the second night. We loved this hotel. The grills on the patio area near the pool were an added touch to the awesome atmosphere of the outdoor area. The kids enjoyed playing basketball on the basketball court/goal near the pool. The rooms were very clean and nice. "Nicest place I have stayed at...very spacious clean and comfortable."
We were looking for accomodations for 5 people. In New Orleans fire code was 4 people per room so we needed to pay for 2 hotel rooms which was very pricey. We picked Slidell because the hotel was a much cheaper price compared to New Orleans, nicer neighborhood, and we liked the fact that we could have 2 separate areas and a kitchen.
