Mayaland Plaza Hotel - Flores

I am a woman travelling solo on my way to the Tikal Ruins and stayed at the Mayaland Plaza hotel. After many hours of travel, I arrived at the hotel, and it was uplifting to discover the open courtyard with its lush colors of the bouganvilla and be greeted warmly. Hotel staff were all very courteous and helpful. I do not speak Spanish and was delighted […] to have assistance from the hotel in booking transport for early morning the following day to Tikal. The hotel location is only a ten minute walk over the causeway to Flores where there are myriad restaurants, gift shops, hotels etc. I actually enjoyed being a little removed and had great fun riding back and forth in the tuk-tuks which are cheaper than the taxis - I only paid $1-1.50 including a tip which was not expected. A full breakfast was included in my hotel rate which was very reasonable. I enjoyed my airconditioned room and had a small balcony which allowed a breeze to flow in when the aircondition was off. The pool is attractive, but small, and added to the ambience. I have fond memories of the staff and appreciated their enthusiam to ensure comfort. I stayed there again after three days in Tikal and was very content. Please note this is a small hotel, as most hotels are in Flores and this area so one should not expect a Le Meridien or Marriott experience - though one certainly can expect a more personal approach. It is not on the island, but very conveniently located, two blocks from the bridge, close to bus depot. Nicely landscaped, the courtyard gives a warm feeling to the hotel although the rooms are somwhat sparse. Staff is most cooperative, breakfast was included since we paid cash. Can't be beat for price-quality.

Mayaland Plaza Hotel was a pleasant and well run establishment. The staff was available and willing to accommodate any and all requests by guests.

The location is not very good, km s from the center of Panachel. There was no water in the pool "this week" Unbelievable murky rooms, the terace, no furniture, no view anywhere. Newer ewer again!

The Hotel's name is grander than it appears. It is well positioned, an easy walk to the Island (be careful, walk on the pavement) and shopping center just before the bridge. We stayed for 2 nights. The room we had was one floor above the entrance, with no elevator and no offer of assistance with baggage. It was clean, reasonable in size, had a local […] channel TV and a noisy, but moderately effective air conditioner. The shower room was equipped with a strong supply of hot water, a valuable asset in that dusty and hot area. The verandah overlooked the small swimming pool, which we did not use, but probably would have given a useful respite to the daily heat. We cannot comment on the included breakfast, as we left before the official serving time. The extremely friendly employee who translated from English on our behalf, arranged for us to have a hamper instead of breakfast on the 1st morning... this was ready for us by 04:15, but despite our request for vegetarian food, we received ham and cheese. I hope that our tour driver to Tikal (which is a MUST visit) enjoyed the hampers. The second morning, we were given coffee (local blend, not to everyone's taste) an omelet and bread, as we had to leave before official breakfast time… that morning we were again hit by misunderstandings- the airport cab which was ordered by the hotel for us, demanded double the quoted price. Under normal circumstances, I'd refuse to pay the increased price , but it was so low, that I'm certain that there was a mess-up in the translation. There are restaurants which the hotel recommends on the Island, which we enjoyed... not recommended by them, but also enjoyable (and much cheaper) was one on the right, just down the hill, towards the island. In the other direction (to the left of the hotel) is a market area with local eat-places, perhaps an adventurous visitor would like to try the food there? Pročitajte više

la verdad buena ubicacion, el hotel muy limpio, con los servicios basicos, es realmente lo que vale.

Le point positif de cet hotel est la presence de la piscine.

Este hotel es un precioso lugar, decorado con gusto exquisito, funcional y muy bien ubicado. Ideal para disfrutar. El staff es extraordinario, amable, eficiente y te hacen sentir en casa. Realmente recomendable!

hotel bien placé pour les visites des sites Tykal , flores , juste à cotes du pont d'entrée de l'ile de Flores et ausi de la gare autobus ,il évite ainsi la foule de touriste implantées sur l'ile, on est plus au contacte des habitants.

Todo correcto. Las habitaciones tienen aire acondicionado, algo muy necesario con el clima de esa zona...No está en la isla de Flores que es lo mas turistico, pero se encuentra nada mas pasar el puente, a pocos minutos andando.
