"We will NOT go back to Estelar Milla de Oro"
My stay was horrible! I had two sleepless nights. Why? I could hear everything, well, almost everything, the neighbors next door were doing; plus, I could also hear all the street noises... which, carried all the way to the 15th floor, suite #1500. I was tired and I was trying to rest after a long trip to the Amazon jungle. Since the bed was too hard […] for me, I chose to sleep on the sofa-bed. That was a huge mistake - that "thing" is so old and sooo lumpy I tossed and tossed all night. When I pleaded for a quieter, more comfortable room, the receptionist told me that all the rooms were facing the streets anyway and besides, I was required to pay for the prize of any new room on top of what I have already paid. Enough said!!! I will never again use the services of this hotel and will not recommend it to any one I know. The Estelar Milla is overall a very nice hotel with a great location and service and a really slow and very intermittent WiFI Internet connection. Ok food, great location, and very courteous and professional staff. Right next to J&C Delicias and Oviedo Mall and Poblado. I wish they just offered hardwired connection in the room. But aside from internet, […] you will enjoy your stay here. Onwards to my complaints. This was over a period of my 2 week stay between Xmas and New Years. I tried the wireless Internet on the 8th floor, 3rd floor and the lobby and to be charitable it is slow and intermittent. There are have at least 4 AP's that answer to the same SSID and the wireless connection seems to wander between them, rendering it useless for long periods of time. This forces you to reauthenticate to the new "AP" again. The Sauna/Spa seemed to be unavailable during this entire period, which I was never get an answer that I could make sense of. Hi Travelers, I stayed resently in this Hotel. In the website this hotel looked amazing. The lobby is very nice. The location is extremly good. The room is big, and have a lot of empty spaces. You can note that the owners start running the bussiness without finishing to complete the rooms. The windows were not sealed and you can listen even the sound […] of the computers of the guest on the rooms next to you...!! unvelibable...!! On the bathroom when I opened the hot water I had to wait like 5 minutes untill the water gets warm...!! I couldn't believe it. The breakfast was good. I asked for a room service a tuna salad, I was really hungry so I ask the waitres if the salad was big enough or I have to choose another dish, he told me it was big. The salad was extremly small... but I didn't want to try another thing. Resuming, go to de Medellín Royal. If not, try another hotel. And if you really need to be on the area then keep the Estellar Milla as an option. I think they have a lot to improve in order to be a 5 star hotel. Maybe they are 3 1/2 star. I do not like to complain but was not impressed with the service at this hotel. I had to call numerous times to get my room cleaned. They constantly rock on your door asking if you want room service or clothing cleaned, but not clean your room I would not consider this hotel a 5 Star Hotel. Do not think this is a cheap hotel because you can get it at a great price at Expedia. This is a 5-star Hotel (as it says when you arrive). I am a regular at worldwide Marriotts and this did not disappoint me one bit. The rooms are spacious & beautiful. The entire hotel even has contemporary deco. It feels new and well-maintained. The hotel staff are […] very professional and helpful - everybody from receptionists, private guards (like a porter / concierge), to the restaurant waiters. Like everywhere else in Medellin, it helps if you speak some Spanish. The hotel is very safe, if some dodgy people try to enter, you'll find police arriving in no time. (I saw that). Equally if a single man wants to bring a lady for overnight stay, the lady has to register at the reception and has to present her ID (which she should carry with her at all times). Again, the receptionists are very professional about this and of course they do this on a daily basis so nothing to be bothered about. This hotel is in prime location in El Poblado. 5 minutes on a taxi to Parque Lleras. Literally a walk around the corner to Oviedo Mall, and Santa Fe Mall. For such a great hotel, its funny that many taxi drivers don't recognise the name. Maybe because there are other "Estelar" hotels around, and many many other hotels generally... But easy way round is to tell the driver that it is near Centro Comercial Oviedo, or right next to (el lado de) Gran Casino Medellin. I would stay at this hotel again, for sure! This is a new hotel, clean and comfortable. The location is really good in Medellen, near everywhere you'll most likely want to go. Calle 10 is the trendy area with lots of good eateries and it's about a 5 min. taxi ride. Taxis are reasonable ($2 to Calle 10). Good "mall" type shopping is steps from he hotel. The breakfast buffet was so-so (we've had […] much, much better!). The room needs a couple of things;more towels or better quality, a hot water maker (for coffee/tea) and some drinking water in the room (free of charge please!). One of the nicer hotels in all of Medellin. The room is hugew with a nice flat screen TV and a comfortable bed. The bathroom was large as well (though the hot water took forever). "Great Hotel - Internet needs improvement though"
The Estelar Milla is overall a very nice hotel with room for improvement in one important detail for business travelers, internet. The internet at the hotel is slow. They have wireless and several computers in their business center. They also offer hardwire connection in the room, but they did not tell me that until day 3 of my stay. The internet speed […] is slow. They need to upgrade their technology to the latest and fastest wireless and hardwire connections. Any good hotel in Colombia has this, ie. Bogota Sheraton, or Barranquilla Sonesta where I have stayed. I hope the Estelar will upgrade their system throughout the chain. But asides from internet, you will enjoy your stay here.
