Have stayed at Hoang Hai Long several times. The lower priced rooms are OK, but the was upgraded to the Executive room recently, which was really nice. The service is terrific, the staff really works to make your stay go smoothly. The location is unbeatable, as is the price.

Stayed at Hoang Hai Long for eight nights in January. The hotel is kept quite clean. Room is very large at a reasonable price with all amenities. This was a good hotel overall. The location is nice, very close to the Reunification Palace (a must with a great garden where they serve delicious Pho). However, it is a VERY busy street. Loads of scooters buzzing by and serious traffic all the time. (Standard for Ho Chi Minh city I guess). Also, I was a tad disapointed by the lack of very good restaurant […] nearby. Excellent location and value for money for a 3 Star hotel. It's within walking distances to most of all the city's "must see" locations eg the Ben Tahn Market, War Memorial Museum, the Cathedral, water puppet theater. At first we were put in a small cramped room with no window. A quick call to the desk changed that to a much more spacious and comfortable room. We had to stay in HCMC longer that we thought and they accomodated us with an extra night and bumped us up to a suite at no extra charge. The breakfast here was suprisingly good, much better than I expected. […] At least there were eggs, fried potatoes and fresh fruit. The fruit in VN is wonderful, so ripe, better than I can get in the super markets back home in Hawaii. The hotel staff was super helpful, and always took care of any issues immediately and at their expense of time or effort. Most gracious. I am going back in a few weeks and this is where I am staying again. Ben Thran Market is only about 3 blocks away and everything is easy to get to. This is a small 3 star hotel that behaves like a 4 star. My fiance who lives in HCMC would not allow me to go walking outside by myself so I didn't see as much of the city as I wanted but next time I will go on tours and that should satisfy the protective Papa Bear. We stayed at this hotel for three nights and after reading the reviews before going, and we were pleasantly suprised. The Hotel was clean bright and in a central location. One good thing about the hotel is its location, so you can easily walk to the Ben Thanh Market. However, it does have few issues. What they call an "Executive Room" is just a standard room at other hotels. However, even though we arrived 30 minutes before closing, there was barely any food left. The selection was good, offering both Asian and Western but it doesn't really matter much because you don't get to eat them anyway. There was nothing much food left to taste and they are not replenished. Also, even though there were several staffs standing around, used dishes were not picked up. We reserved the Hoang Hai Long hotel on Pham Hong Thai street (not the one on Nguyen An Ninh street) thru Hotels.com and prepaid everything 2 months before our trip, which is less expensive than paying at the hotel. We stayed for 3 weeks during Christmas'2011 and New Year'2012. The location is excellent, it has a plaza in front of the hotel which makes […] getting a taxi or motorbike very easy. The location is 5 minutes walk to Ben Thanh market so very convenient. The breakfast buffet has a variety to choose from, and we always ate breakfast there. The reception desk can exchange money so we don't have to go anywhere else. The tourdesk is on-site and the tourbus picks up at the hotel (thanks chi Lan). The in-room safe is very secured, I left my cash in there no problem. The room is cleaned up daily, fresh towels, mini-bar has variety of drinks, TV is kind of small but no big deal. A/C works great make sleeping very comfortable. The bellmen are very helpful, always asking if they can help. We are very happy with our stay at the hotel. We recommend it because it's much cheaper than the New World across the street (maybe 3 times more), got excellent service, and we would definitely stay at this one again. Booked this place because it had good reviews, but couldn't wait to check out of this place. Problems from the outset when we walked into our room and it smelled like a public bathroom in desperate need of cleaning/airing out. It was so overwhelming that after 30 min of checking-in, we complained to the front desk. They sent up 'housekeeping,' which […] was a man in flip flops carrying a can of air freshener to 'fix' our problem. Our bedside lamp shade was ripped in several places and the flimsy headboard actually had a 4-inch piece of wood paneling that had pealed off. Seriously?! Breakfast was sizeable, but there's not much you'd want to eat. We switched rooms the next day and got one on the other side of the building; the smell was much improved, but the shower was weird: the curtain rod rose at each end, so that the shower curtain just slid down on either side. Result is that you couldn't close the shower curtain while showering, thus affording you a view of your toilet and sink, and getting the floor soaked. Bad way to start an 11-day trip, so I would avoid this place--there are far too many equally affordable and convenient options in Saigon/HCMC to give this place your time and money. Pročitajte više

This is one of the best 3 star hotel i have stayed. Hotel staff was very friendly and always look after yourself. Only downside is the morning breakfast. Sometimes have to wait for a while to get a seat as it is serve breakfast for 2 other hotels guests. Close to markets and other shopping centers.

ATTENTION: Travellers to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) Beware!!!! We booked a "Deluxe Room" in the Hoang Hai Long Hotel" for 2 December 2011 via expedia.com.au. Straight forward and simple enough right? WRONG!!! On check - in at the hotel, we were bundled into a cab without any explanation and driven to the sister hotel - the Hoang Hai Long 2 Hotel, a […] number of streets away and told that this is where we would be staying!!! We were told that this hotel was "Tower C" of the Hoang Hai Long Hotel - a complete lie!!! The Hoang Hai Long 2 Hotel is a self-rated cheap, dirty and poor appointed imitation of its sister hotel. We were not at all impressed. After 2 hours of frustration at trying to explain to the Concierge (and showing him our printed Expedia Booking Confirmation) that we had not booked and paid for a room in this completely different hotel, we were told that we would not be given a room back at the Hoang Hai Long Hotel even though that's the hotel we booked and paid for!!! At the point of exhaustion, we accepted the dirty pokey room they showed us to and suffered a terrible nights stay. We stayed here for two nights when we arrived in Ho Chi Minh city. This hotel is situated near the Ben Thanh Market, 20 minutes walk from the Opera house, Cathedral and Post office (4 main land marks of Saigon), it is a short taxi ride away from other land marks. As other reviews have written, if you book a deluxe room be sure to call and reserve a room with a window as this makes all the difference to your stay. Even though we did that, we still spent the first night in a windowless room as the hotel was full, but the next morning when we went out for the day, we packed our cases and by the time we came back […] the hotel staff had changed rooms for us. This hotel is in a perfect location with friendly helpful staff and a nice little spot to sit for evening drinks outside the hotel. The food is quite ok although we did not like the breakfast which is no problem as there are so many other places you should try for breakfast/lunch (try Windows Cafe close to Alexander Road for the most amazing coffee shop experience you will ever have). Rooms are clean, bed linen smelled nice and fresh, and the housekeeping seem efficient. All in all this was an excellent stay and we will definitely return to the same hotel next time in Saigon. The breakfast is really a big disappointment, there is always not enough food, and the breakfast menu is the same for 3 days straight! There are very few vegetarian options and quality of vegetables is not fresh. One of the worst breakfast from a 3 star rated hotel.

On arrival was disappointed to be told we were 'upgraded' to two single beds instead of our queen beds, it appeared they didn't have us booked at all. This hotel was not a 3* by any stretch of the imagination. The rooms were TINY, dark and smelled musty because of no ventilation; the furnishings beaten up, torn and dirty; no window at all in the room; not much English TV selection; walls were so thin, you could hear conversations in the next room; though breakfast was supposed to be included & served […] from 6 - 9.30 am, they made one batch of food and when it ran out, it wasn’t replenished. Out of a seven day stay, I had hot water ONE morning. I complained repeatedly and was told that they would ask “to keep it turned on longer” because “now it is shut off the previous night” and the water that was already heated was supposed to suffice for the next morning! I had it for one morning then and that was it. There were very tiny bugs – sort of miniature fleas around everywhere – including the rooms. Smoking was not supposed to be allowed in certain areas of the restaurant but it was. There were at least 20 stairs to get to the main entrance of the hotel and if the bell hop was not around (often), you had to carry your baggage up & down those steps yourself. I would not go back.
