La Quinta Inn and Suites JFK Airport - New York

Old hotel in location convenient to JFK. Expensive cab ride to LaGuardia. Friendly helpful staff. Remote to restaurants for travelers without a car. Thankfully menus of local restaurants that deliver were available. Chose this hotel because amenities consistent with other LaQuinta's: breakfast, hotel transportation.

The hotel was actually very nice and the room was great. However the neighborhood, not so much. No where to really walk to if you wanted to eat off site. The airport van got my party back and forth to JFK, which was only minutes away. The staff was professional.

After arriving at JFK it took 45 minutes before the desk clerk answered the phone to send a shuttle. We were informed that the shuttle only can once an hour at the top of the hour. We will never stay at this location again.

The hotel was okay. I needed somewhere to stay that was close to JFK. It was a little stinky, the cleaning solutions and air freshener they used was overpowering, and whatever smells it was covering up were stinky. The room was super spacious, bed comfy, sheets clean, had everything you needed for an overnight hotel stay. The staff was SUPER friendly […] and helpful and the shuttle service was good, you just need to tell them in advance when you need to leave for the airport because they only depart from hotel > JFK every hour. The breakfast was decent, hard boiled eggs, toast, yogurt, coffee, etc. I probably won't stay there again just because it was stinky, they allow pets, but if you're in a bind and just need somewhere to sleep it does the job. The "double bed" could only accommodate a single person. There was considerable traffic in the hallway all night, disturbing. The heating and cooling element was loud in the room.

In a pinch for an overnight stay, this hotel is ok. Nothing around it as far as places to eat or shop (pharmacy). Front desk was helpful with recommendations for take out food.

this was an overnight stay between flights. Bed was very comfortable, the room fine a little tight with large bed. It was clean and on first floor which I need because of arthritis. The rooms are small and the room smelled like mildew!! It was so overwhelming ran out to buy some deodorizer to get rid of the smell. The shower curtain is made of cloth with no plastic lining and it stinks!! Breakfast room tiny and food was very limited. Dry bagels, watery OJ, etc. Will never stay here again!!

i was here just for transit. the staff are really rude. the whole walk way stinking of something dead. room is really tiny. bathroom was stinking again. the air conditioning made lot of noise. suggest spend a bit more and book holiday inn express or comfort inn.

This is a NO FRILLS hotel, perfect if you just need something small, clean and close to the airport. The free shuttle to and from JFK airport and the free breakfast are by far two of the best amenities. The only complaints about the hotel itself were that in the bathroom sink, the stopper did not work at all so I had to literally hold it open with my […] finger while using the sink to ensure the water ran out. Also, in my room the roof must have had a leak because the carpet was wet in some places. Not too big a deal but definitely something i would not have put up with if my stay was for longer than one night. the welcome was disappointing. The receptionist was depressed, the system was down so they couldnt book us in and we had to wait. No porter to help take our luggage. The room was clean, but very very noisy as you could here the outside traffic all night. The air conditioning was smelly and seems it hasnt been cleaned for a long time. The stay was okay. There were three rooms reserved for our trip; I got a room in the lower level that was rather small. As a result, could not request a rollaway bed. the room was clean, but it did not appear that much care is taken to do the same in the hallway. La Quinta is a nice hotel in a relatively safe location. The room was very clean and the staff were friendly and very helpful, with the exception of the morning shuttle driver, who would have preferred to have not picked up passengers from this hotel but to have just gone with passengers from another hotel. The hotel manager did not let him do this. […] The room had a refrigerator and a microwave, and there are many food take outs, restaurants, and grocery markets within easy walking distance. The bed was very comfortable. There were, however, three problems, which may or may not have been limited to the particular room I was in: the AC did not cool the room (and NYC was in the start of a heat wave at the time, so this would be a major problem for most travelers), the AC unit rattled unless a shoe was placed over part of the grill, the shower head could not be adjusted from an inconvenient setting, and the shower handle was looose and fell off. I am certain the hotel staff would have worked with me to fix any of these issues, if I had asked. Future travelers should just be aware of a potential AC issue. I mentioned all of these issues when I checked out, and I was assured that they would fix them. Despite the issues, La Quinta is potentially the most comfortable, clean, and covenient JFK airport hotel in which I have stayed, and the staff is very friendly, and I would recommend above others. This hotel, located near JFK airport, is a nice enough place to stay from the inside- but it is not located anywhere near an decent restaurants, and the neighborhood is not conducive to walking any distance, very poorly lighted and run-down. The parking lot is hard to find and barely has room for 8 cars. I would not choose to stay here again.

Very nice Hotel inside. Hwoever the area is very bad. Parking is VERY VERY limited. In my case I was towing a trailer and couldn't use the lot anyways. However, the parking is bad for a hotel of thsi size. The Hotel has maybe 200 rms and there is parking for 20 cars.I parked on the street in front of the hotel and someone broke into my car. That's how […] bad the area is. So please consider at leats its a bad location cime-wise and parking is not good at all. And parking on the street is not allow on certain times on weekdays. The host was nice and the location is very clean. The room is GORGEOUS, the breakfast was very nice. I would stay at a LA Quinta again, just not this particular location. But I needed a hotel close to JFK on short notice and they were the only ones with a room. I am not disappointed in the Hotel, but they need better parking that is MORE SECURE for the area it is in. Do not order a cab from here unless it's a NYC cab. They will call a cab company that charges huge fee for credit card just to take you to the E train. Also you are only paying for the sleep. Neighborhood is an expressway and not much commerce.

I needed a place to stay since I had a flight arriving at night and wasn't leaving on my connection until the next morning. This hotel was perfect for that. They have a 24-hour airport shuttle (only runs once an hour, leaves on the hour from the hotel) that picks you up from Federal Circle at JFK and drops you off at your terminal. It was about a 20 […] min ride from the airport to the hotel with traffic, 10ish minutes without traffic. The room was a bit small, but it didn't really matter since I was only there for about 8 hours total. Seemed very clean, and the bathroom was decent. I can't comment on the breakfast since I had to leave before they started serving it (they did offer to let me order it to-go ahead of time, but I chose not to). They have a computer in the lobby for internet use (very slow internet), and a printer so you can print boarding passes and such.
