HYATT NORTHSTAR LODGE - Truckee

We stayed two nights at the Hyatt Residence Club at Northstar. The hotel is beautiful and a great location just steps away from the Village and is not as noisy/busy as Great Bear. (although Great Bear is fantastic too and soooo clean). The website lists breakfast, hot tubs and a fire pit as amenities. We were given two $5 Starbucks gift cards (total, […] not per person) instead of breakfast for four for two days. Breakfast was discontinued. Hot tubs - there were two of them but not filled - again, discontinued. Fire pit - well we were told they would turn it on upon request but the night manager refused. There was no discount in the rate for the discontinued amenities so beware. The condo was beautiful and beautifully furnished including fireplaces inside and one on the balcony. Beautiful lodging but the website isnt accurate. For example it calls out 4 places to eat the the Northstar Village when in fact there is only 2 (1 sushi and 1 pizza/pasta) places. The village is like a zombie apocalypse. A virtual ghost town during the summer months. I was competing in the Tough Mudder at Sqauw Valley and let me tell you that village […] was alive with fun, shops and tons of places to eat. I recommend te Hyatt Residency Club for a winter snow wonderland but presently with all of the construction it was over priced for a lack of supporting businesses. The space was great - 3 bedrooms and 3 baths so perfect for a group of friends with nice high end kitchen. Front desk staff very helpful and courteous. We were definitely off season, so location was a bit unremarkable, but you could envision it in winter or summer as the storybook "village". We were very comfortable in this suite. Very nicely decorated and all kitchen appliances and "tools" were first rate. (Much appreciated by my wife "the gourmet")
