Gabriel House - Guest House - Cork

The staff was great...very informative and helpful! The B&B was clean, hospitable and comfortable. Nice having a "warmer" for our towels in the bath and nice walk in shower. The breakfast was very good and the staff at breakfast was very accomodating! I would defintely stay here again!

Reception was very helpful. Great rooms, one of the few to accommodate 4 people..

Nice tea room and breakfast room

would have no qualms in recommending this hotwl to anyone, very handy for cork city centre

Very nice guest house, very nice breakfast. One warning... If your car isn't working so well be careful. The hotel car park is below the main road. It has a very steep drive you have to drive your car down and up.

By the time we got to Cork we had traveled all across Ireland. This B&B was just what we needed. Favorite of all the places we stayed. Just had to walk down the hill to be in the main city centre. Super friendly staff and great breakfast available. Free wifi was awesome and all together a great experience.

Slight disadvantages- on a steep hill. Not really accessible if you have mobility problems. Hill makes parking pretty difficult. Spent one night at Gabriel House in Cork and it really was great!! Old hotel and staff were not nice and made me wait until 4 pm to get access to the room because it was not cleaned yet and they claimed that 4 pm is the check in time in all hotels. Room was tiny and I felt that I could have got a better room for what I paid.

We've stayed in this B&B on a number of occasions due to it's convenient close location to our relatives - but apart from this we have found little to recommend it and havesince found other establishments in the area that offer better value for money. The "house" was huge. The location was a little off the beaten path, but it was a nice place that wasn't a terrible walk from the city center. On top of that all there was great Wifi in the room(only place we stay in Ireland that I didn't have to leave the room to work)!

Only there for one night but it was a very nice place to stay. Very close to center of town and easy to find. Room was a little cramped but it was very comfortable with a great view of Cork city. Wi-Fi advertised but the room we were in had extremely poor reception so don't count on getting the internet or e-mails. it was hard to find Gabriel House and the parking lot was a sharp slope down from street to house. Room was small but clean and had new bath. breakfast was good and staff was very nice, but it was away from points of interest in Cork. It was just OK.

We spent one night at Gabriel House and were made to feel very welcome. The room was spacious and the bathroom modern and clean. The full Irish breakfast was excellent. The Guest house is outside the centre of Cork but within an easy 10/15 min walk. Good value for money and definitely recommended.

The staff were very friendly and the location was an easy walk to town for dinner and entertainment. The room was a little small but adequate.

stayed for two nights here. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff was absolutely wonderful, very friendly and great for the local knowledge in getting around. Room was slightly dusty and could have done with a lick of paint but was perfect for what it was needed for. Breakfast was lovely and a great filler for the day.

Very friendly host and service in a very good location with clean and pleasent room with small but brand new and very clean bathroom. It ha s a lovely garden too.

Six of us stayed in Gabriel House over the weekend of the 17th of June and it was brilliant. The rooms were big, very clean with comfortable beds. The bathroom was modern and clean. The staff always helpful and smiling, nothing was too much bother. My boyfriend and I stayed at the Gabriel House for 6 days in early June. What really makes this B & B special is their wonderful staff--they were warm and friendly and helped us plan perfect itineraries for seeing Cork and some of the surrounding areas. Good value for money Guesthouse, 10-15 minutes walk into the City. There is quite a hill up to the Guesthouse. Brilliant service, staff all friendly. The location of the Gabriel House was great...except for the very large hill it was on. As four our room, we were on the 3rd floor and had fairly small windows which you could only see out of if you were standing on your bed. An Ideal location a short walk from Cork City Centre, Staff were extremly helpfull, plesant, and efficient . Breakfast is superb, a wide choice of very tasty dishes with many healty options to choose from. Some of the rooms could stand some maintainance and redecorating but overall this is a nice place to stay and very good value.

We found this hotel to be vg location wise. However that is where advantages end. Cannot see how hotel is 3star. 2star at best. Upon arrival, we were asked at check-in by a very rude lady, do any of us wear faketan?! To which my friend was kind enough to say yes, and the lady handed her a grubby old towel to use after showering! We were attending a […] gig that night in the city, to which the lady obviously assumed this to mean we would be noisy....so we were loudly informed,in front of other guests, that she 'would not hesitate to throw us out at anytime of the night if there was noise'.....Really offensive and embarresing especially in front of other guest. Friendly and helpful staff (especially Kathleen) made our family feel welcome. On site parking is a plus if you have a car. Make sure you get the breakfast, it is worth it.

Our stay at Gabriel House was excellent; the management was exceptionally friendly and helpful, even offering to throw our damp clothes intio the dryer when we'd been caught in the rain. It is an unpretentious venue in terms of the accommodations themselves but has a lovely garden patio which would have been delightful except for the rain. All in all it is a lovely place to stay. Very clean, most staff were very friendly and helpful - bar one. But you will get that every where i guess. Room was big and very clean. On a three day stay the room was cleaned once. As we didn't include breakfast in the booking we were told that there was an €8 charge for breakfast which we thought was abit […] dear, so did not avail of this. The guest house is approx a 15 min away from the city centre. Definitely not a place to stay with the young, old, or anybody with mobility issue as the hill is rather steep. Very helpful staff. Room was clean with new bathroom fixtures. Water was hot and pressure was good. Shower was clean. WIFI worked well in the room (2nd floor). Room had 4 large windows, which helped warm the room during the day. Room got colder at night/early morning. Tea/Coffee provided. 10 min downhill walk to bus station/city center. Steep hill on […] the way back, but inexpensive bus service (#7 and #8) takes you to and from hotel (bus stops are both to the right and left of the hotel's location. Close by to main attractions. We always stay in Gabriel House when visiting family & friends in Cork. It is a wonderful haven of peace and comfort - yet a few minutes from Patrick's Street. Was about a 10-15 minute walk to the City Center. Parking lot on site. Breakfast was very good. Bathroom was newer but beds are about due for an upgrade but no complaints.

When we visited this B&B, the city of Cork had experienced a great deal of flooding. Upon check in the reception clerk told us that they were under water restrictions. The truth was that they did not have water and were running water to the b&b from a truck in the parking lot. We agreed to be careful with water usage understanding that the entire country […] was experiencing problems with flooding. At some point in the middle of the night the truck ran out of water and when we awoke there was no water to flush the toilets or shower. Had they told us the truth we would have made arrangements to stay in another city where the circumstances were not as bad. In addition, there was no heat on when we arrived. We were told that the heat was on a timer and would come on at 5:45. while it did come on in one room, the second room never had heat all night and the temp was in the 40's. We also found hair in our beds from previous guests, but, since it was after 11pm when we made this discovery and we were traveling with 2 elderly women who were already in bed in their room we had to use lint rollers to remove it. This made the fact that we were unable to shower especially horrible the next morning. Visitors should also know that this b&b is down a hill from the street and access is gained by driving down a steep narrow curved driveway and walking through a sloped parking lot. I would not recommend it to anyone but especially hot elderly guests or anyone with disabilities. When it came time to check out at 8am we could not locate the desk clerk and had to simply leave our key. We were unable to express our displeasure to them. Great location to visit Cork. Within walking distance of over 500 hundred shops. Only 5 blocks from the bus line. The bus line in Ireland is the ONLY way to travel. Very cheap, and takes you directly to attractions.

The Gabriel house was a fantastic price and a chance to get to know some of the true residents of cork, eat some of the food of Ireland, and stay (when lucky, with a great view!) for a great price. It was the best hotel I stayed in in Ireland.

Iwould ask what room I would be in, as attic rooms have no windows only sky lights and with the rooms in basement level you will hear all the noise from the dining room above,which goes on all day and night,as it is used by residents for tea and coffee facilities also early breakfasts. The room I was in could have been cleaner !!!!

hotel looked good from the outside and ample parking, reception service very friendly. Carpet throughout hall and stairways would benefit from a good shampoo. Beds and bed linen including duvets poor quality as was the furniture in our room. Breakfast and dining room good quality.

Stayed here with my two young children. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel like friends by Valerie. Within ten mins the children were picking fruit in the lovely gardens with her boys which was then passed on to the chef to create something with. Fantastic views over the whole of Cork from the 2nd floor family room (ask for room 19 if you need a family room, very nice). Hearty breakfast which will keep you going all day. Nice mix of clientele from around the world. For the money it was a great pick and we would highly recommend it to others. Only small point I could add is that the advertised wireless internet doesn't seem to work on the higher floors when you are in the room. Staff are aware and apparently dealing with it. Great place for the money. Nicer facility than other hotels we stayed at in Ireland and was half the price.
