Great John Street Hotel - Manchester

I brought my girlfriend here for a romantic surprise and it was wonderful! The hotel room had a uniquely quaint prriod character to it, everything was very clean and the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was one of the best I've ever seen in an hotel, a free standing bath on a second floor! I would definitely stay here again! And the price was […] very reasonable for a city hotel. A charitable donation was added to the bill without asking first which was slightly annoying, and the minibar prices where enormous, although that's the norm really. Enjoyed my stay although couldn't make the most of the room in little time I've had. Hotel was warm and cosy, lovely breakfast. Only thing I was disappointed with was coffee in the room. It's a fair trade coffee which is nice but it's awful. I know it's extremely cheap because I used to make it as a free beverage at work. Everyone hated it and we knew […] it was the cheapest thing you could get... For such expensive and lovely room this was a shock. Hotel shouldn't save money on a coffee. First of all the hotel is in a beautiful Victorian Schoolhouse which was really quite nice, as soon as we arrived there we were told that we had been upgraded from our booked baby grand to the boudoir grand which is very pleasing to hear when first arriving at any hotel. Would hated to have seen baby grand as the room we were in was a little small and […] over furnished with tack, instantly noticed there was a hole in the carpet. The rest of the the hotel played on the schoolhouse theme with named staircases and rooms, found this very gimmicky. Staff were very enthusiastic and smiley but I found it very overdone and pretty false however not totally off putting. After checking in we decided to go to the bar for a quiet drink and relax before going out but were rudely told we could not do this because they were doing a scene for coronation street at that time, we were both made to feel that we were in the wrong for entering the bar, we were directed up to the rooftop balcony were our drinks were brought up to us but it wasn't exactly the weather to sit outside, found this very frustrating, as you would expect the drinks were very expensive. Although breakfast wasn't included in the price it was probably best part of the stay for me, really good choice and well cooked. I would recommend staying somewhere cheaper and spend that extra cash on some of the great bars and resteraunts Manchester has to offer.... Hope this helps. Pročitajte više
