"Good place to hang your hat"
My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at the Monarch Resort. The units are large and private. My only real complaints are that the bath/shower needed updating, there were limited kitchen supplies and they were stingy with the number of towels they leave in the room. The staff were friendly and when we asked for something, we got […] it. We spent most of out time away from the resort since the pool and beach there aren't the best and we wanted to experience Costa Rica. All in all, I feel comfortable recommending this resort but only if you have a car and can visit nearby Playa Hermosa and Playa Coco. Pročitajte više
"Good for what it is"
We stayed at the Monarch for just one night. We had just come back from Nicaragua and were flying out of Liberia the next day and wanted to be on the beach close to the airport. The hotel was neat and clean with a very friendly staff. The rooms were fine fine but dated. The big problem with the Monarch is that it is on a bay. No waves, small beach and […] no sunset. New trails snake down to the beach, a five minute walk. They have kayaks and snorkeling equipment, so there is stuff to do. The bottom line is, it is good for what it is! Pročitajte više

"Nice spot ,great place to stay ,big rooms"
Hide away in the woods with seaview,very tranquil, friendly reception and service.They bring you to your room in a golfcart, everytime you need it, even at night (no cars allowed in the resort) Big condomium style rooms, a little outdated, but very comfortable. What more could you wish for that price.

"The Monarch Resort, Papagayo Gulf, Costa Rica"
A very nice, quiet relaxing place to stay. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Large, spacious, clean, comfortable rooms. Excellent food at the restaurant.
"A hidden treasure!"
Our room was actually a condo style split level apartment with full kitchen and accessories. The property was constantly being cleaned up and prepared for all meals. The staff never stopped working. The location was right on the ocean, and wildlife was everywhere. The manager even took us up to see a family of howling monkeys that lived at the top of […] the hill. Very friendly people! They also have a great restaurant on site that offers made to order breakfast every morning. Popular place for locals to have a nice dinner as well. The town of Coco was a ten minute drive form the little resort. If your looking to be in the mix of Tico (Costa Rican) life, you should go there. It's the most touristy place north of Tamarindo. Renting a car is very appropriate for travel up this far. If traveling around like we did, it was cheaper and worth it. Monarch is to the back side of many all inclusive resorts, and offers an all inclusive package, but is very quite. This is more of a place for escape from busy city life. not much to do within walking distance except nature hikes and play on the beach (Papagayo) nearby. We were 100% impressed with Monarch and the awesome staff. It's best described as a resort with local culture, unlike most resorts that make you feel that you're in the states still. Would definitely return here of the 3 places we stayed while in Costa Rica. (Monarch Resort, J.W. Marriott, and Arco Iris in Tamarindo) Pročitajte više
"Monarch Resort, Gorgeous Hotel!!!"
Our Junior Suite room was way more than we expected, with a full kitchen, large bathroom and extremely comfortable king sized bed. We had the whole hotel practically to ourselves, and we were treated like royalty by all of the staff. Keep in mind that the nearest town is a 20 dollar cab ride each way, so plan on bringing food with you to store in your […] fridge or pay upwards of 15 dollars per plate in the restaurant. That said, even though very expensive, the food in the restaurant was made completely fresh and tasted and was presented in a very gourmet fashion. Das Hotel liegt an der Panamabucht. Leider ist das Wasser trueb und nicht geeignet zum baden. Ein Shuttel-Bus zu einem guten Strand wäre vielleicht eine Lösung. Das Restaurant ist gut, leider sind die Portionen sehr knapp bemessen und die Preise zu hoch für Costa Rica. Preis und Leistung stimmen nicht ganz überein.
