This was our first all-inclusive and we really didn't know what to expect. Before arriving, we received prompt responses to emailed questions. After arriving, we visited Guest Services to plan accommodation for our vegetarian meals, a babysitter and lowering the crib. The hotel staff was eager to please and the quality of service was incredible. Food […] was good, resort was clean, staff friendly, beach beautiful, drinks good, pool nice. We brought our 8 month old baby and he had a great time in the pool and on the beach, and the staff was so friendly and everyone wanted to hold him. The only real disappointment was snorkeling. More people than fish. It was so bad, the tour operators are pushing bread on snorkelers before the excursion. I'd give the snorkeling a C- grade. Otherwise, the whole resort experiences a solid A grade. We'd go back. Tips: shop around for transportation to/from airport... we got a shared van for $25/$28 each way. If you have special dietary needs, work with the Chef and her assistants. If you have a baby, bring along a hand-blender so you can make your own baby food with the mango, papaya, banana, etc... The beach and pools were gorgeous. The food was excellent. The service wasn't great. Half the people were really nice and friendly, the other half seemed to have a chip on their shoulder. The beds are really uncomfortable and the toilets are insanely horrible. I had to ask for a wash cloth to be delivered every day which was a little annoying.

We loved the majestic elegance resort! The staff was incredible! As most all inclusive hotels go, the food was pretty good. Not amazing, but no all inclusive hotel that I have ever found has amazing food. The French restaurant was the best! We did get bumped to the colonial side of the resort the first night (there are 2 parts to the resort-the elegance […] and the colonial) because the snow storm in the northeast had rearranged a lot of people's travel schedules. The room on the colonial side was not NEAR as nice. However they did give us a $200 room credit which allowed us to each get a massage for free so not too bad. The pools are awesome and they have a couple swim up bars which we love. The beach is amazing. One of the most beautiful I have ever seen. I would recommend it. Great deal for the price! They even have little shops there and the prices are good. The casino is small but great and the nightclub makes for good people watching. They do have top shelf liquor at most of the bars there but you have to order your drink with it or they give you well brands. The wine was not good but I did not expect it to be. we travelled as 3 couples for our 3rd trip to the DR and 2nd to Majestic Ellegence. It did not dissapoint. The hotel was packed, but that didn't cause any real issues. Drinks are plentiful, food is generally pretty bad, but always something around to eat and they try hard. No one on our trip got sick or had any issues with food or water. We liked our experience. However, the 'stove hot' food left something to be desired. To obtain something 'hot', you had to have the chefs cook it in front of you. The food tasted great! There was always enough towels, located near the beach bar. The table service in the buffet restaurant was very good and pleasant as well. Learn the word "Olaa", phonetically speaking. It's a lovely greeting the locals use. Relax and enjoy. We didn't find the tiles used outside slippery when wet although they warn you when they are wet....as well as indoors when they're cleaning and if and when the rains get onto the tiles...the ladies are out there sweeping the rain away. The lounge bar was huge. If we got there around 7 pm we would get a sofa to sit on and the service was usually good. When the bar area got crowded the service was a little slower but not that long. There was a screw up in my reservation that I had made 6 months prior. They were very uncooperative about it even though I was there for my sisters wedding and my entire family was there. Thankfully 4 days before we went they said they would have a room for me. Upon arriving they didn't have rooms for many of my other family members including my 90 […] year old grandpa who they had waiting in a wheelchair in the lobby for 2 hours after a very long flight to get there. The check in system is dreadful, they had problems with every reservation in my party and anyone one connected with this wedding. Absolutely dreadful! All staff exceptionally efficient and very friendly. Food was good quality. All the property was kept very clean with constant maintenance, including fresh paint. My husband and I stayed at the Majestic Elegance in celebration of our 20th wedding anniversary from 1/29/13 to 2/5/13. We upgraded to the Elegance Club. The hotel exceeded our expectations. Here is a breakdown: Room: We stayed on the Elegance Club "Elle" side. This a quieter and more subdued section. Rooms have everything you need and comfortable. […] Be sure to ask for wash clothes or bring your own - they are scarce. Elegance Club: The "Ella" side of the Elegance Club has a swim up bar along with the private pool, which the "Elle" does not, but the bar and wait service by the pool on the "Elle" side was fantastic! Shout out to Felix, Maxima, Doritza and Rosa! Ask for the "Felix Special" Pool: The pools are vast! If you're staying in one of the private sections, be sure to swim your way through the resort and visit every bar along the way. The only negative is that the pools do have several missing tiles and repairs are needed. The water is clean and a decent temp (although the ocean was warmer). Beach: Amazing white sand! Elegance Club gets beverage service on the beach. Abundant chairs and areas of shade and sun. Can walk for miles between other resorts! Beautiful! Food/Drinks: Amazing as well! Flavorful, and a large variety. Loved the steakhouse, Japanese restaurant and Italian. Not too crazy about the French. Didn't try the See and Sea except during lunch buffet. The name of the resort tells it all. The resort was very well maintained. The rooms were very spacious and nicely decorated. There was plenty of hot water for showers and the jacuzzi. We arrived at the resort and before our bags were unloaded we were greeed by our awesome butler Ceaser who escorted us straight to the bar for a drink and telling us "I will take care of everything, you are on vacation" and he did! Room had a safe and sufficent space for our clothes. Grounds are very well kept, maintained and cleaned. Staff was very friendly and eager to help. Occasionally a language barrier, but this is to be expected when your are in a spanish speaking country and only speak english. We never had to wait at a restarant or for a drink at the many bars throughout the resort. Entertainment was diffrent every night and very good. They set up the best Super Bowl party I ever attended with plenty of food drink and movie theater screen. Received calls daily from the front desk to make sure everything was OK and two visits from the resort manager to see if we were having a geat vacation. Also, no one at the resort tried to sell us ANYTHING (i.e. timeshares). Food was very good and we enjoyed every restaurant there. We especially liked the steak restaurant for dinner and the Italian for lunch. The elegance club upgrade was very much worth it with two exclusive pools and bars for members. I was on vacation with my wife for 5 days at the Majestic Elegance Hotel. I liked the hotel and food, but the service for outside activities was very bad. I decided to sail one day with catamaran and went to get a boat. They had insurance fee in case if I brake the boat to cover the damage. So I paid $6 for one day and sail out with the catamaran in […] the ocean and in about 3-5 min the boat's steering wheel broke down, the bolt with lock nut was missing; my wife and I had to manage to get back to shore and after everything it was my false. The guy told me that I didn't know how to sail, didn't say even sorry for that, he refused to give me back those $6 dollars and covered all the damage after all; called his manager, who never picked the phone..... In my opinion he didn't check the boat before letting people go with it and he even told me that I could to check it myself before it happened. I felt that I wasted my time walking to front desk and back to the beach trying to prove I was right and also half of my day that I planned was ruined. I paid a lot of money to stay at the hotel and I didn't expect that kind of service at the beach. The best resort we've yet tried in the Dominican, and we would definitely return. They've attended to even the smallest details - self-closing drawers in the room, lights in the closets, a proper drying rack on the balcony, air conditioning that automatically shuts off when you open the balcony door, helpful, cheerful, attentive staff and lots of them. […] The food was excellent and I ate all the things one is cautioned against in the tropics (lettuce, grapes, etc.) and experienced no ill effects. Why I think the hotel should be down grated from a 4.5 to a 3 star..The registration staff was cool and less accommodating. Both times we went to the hotel they had to change our room after the first night. So you really can’t settle in for two days. The over all condition of the rooms are worn and dated. The valve in the shower prevented one to regulate the water flow properly. The white shag rugs were dingy. Bathrobes and towels thread bear and tattered. You are given one beach towel absolutely forbidden to have a second towel. You may not bring the room towel to the beach or pool. You need more than one towel. Very ridicules system.The Terrace Bar near our room never opened, ice machines on all three floors of our building broken, Elevator in our building did not work from the second floor so one had to walk up and down Nightlife shows were the same as last year and are a poor form of acrobatics. The club that opened was geared for the younger crowd, and the piano bar never had anyone playing the piano.Spa services after registering for services and signing half way through treatment the staff changed the price.
