Playa Linda Beach Resort - Palm Beach

We loved staying in an older resort...had a colonial Aruba feeling.

Just back (Jan 16, 2013) from 8 nights at the Playa Linda. My wife & I really enjoyed the facility & the location - right on the beach. This is not a hotel per se, it's a time-share operation with unused rooms going onto the market for rent, just like a hotel. A minor downside to this was that we needed to move to a different room in the middle of our […] stay because an owner had reserved our 1st room - but we knew that going in. The staff made the move super easy for us. We had a studio with a very comfortable queen bed, kitchen, large frig, stove, microwave, dishes, glasses, flatware, etc. The balcony overlooked the sparkling clean pool & gave a great partial view of the beach and ocean. Inside & out we found everything well maintained. Front desk staff were extremely helpful (thanks Evelina!) answering all questions, even giving directions to the best local supermarkets to stock the kitchen. There are at least 30 restaurants within a 5 minute walk, from sandwiches to steakhouses. Food prices were higher than many other islands, but not obscene. The beach is nice & clean and has "chickees" in the sand, small tables with thatched rooves to sit under. If possible, bring your beach towels there between 6:30 and 7:00 to reserve one; they are often all taken before 7:30am! Note: Expedia reserved a smoking room for us but all rooms were non-smoking; just go on the balcony and close the door and everyone is happy! The resort has excellent facilities and a prime location but the bottom of the sea is not sand at fifteen meters from shore , it seems mud

very clean, comfortable rooms with the balconies and kitchen. Interesting design of the hotel. One drawback-you have to stand up at 6am to get chichi.. I think the people should not hold them if they are not on the beach

Hotel staff very polite.....nice clean rooms...If you check in before a Sunday ,you may have to change rooms when Sunday comes up.....The water in front of the resort was the only part of my trip I didn't like....There was some kind of muck in the water when you went out in the ocean....It was like you were walking in mud in the water......The other […] resorts down the beach didn't have this problem....The water wasn't clear from the muck and you couldn't see hardly nothing in the water. There was a lot of boat traffic in front of the resort and a pier with a restaurant beside of the resort.. maybe some of this muck came from these....Pool was very nice though. Pročitajte više

This was the first time my husband and I had visited Aruba. I chose the Playa Linda based on the fact that it wasn't a huge property. Location was great - dining, shopping and entertainment all within walking distance. We always felt safe. We met a lot of return guests who come every year. Check in was relatively easy but the clerks were not very friendly/personable. […] Because of a change we'd made there was a little confusion regarding our reservations. Our room, a studio, was perfect for the two of us. It was comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. Overall the property was well maintained and daily maid service was good. Loved our balcony w/table & 2 chairs for enjoying morning coffe. View of both ocean and pool, fully equipped kitchen. We purchased breakfast, lunch and snack items at a local grocery so usually just ate 1 meal out a day. 2 favorites were Dushi Bagels and Tomato Joes (pizza). Be prepared for high prices... Despite getting to the beach sometimes as late as 11:00 a.m., we never had a problem getting a Chickee. Water is beautiful - clear and calm. We only visited pool once, but it was never crowded. Took advantage of daily happy hour w/OK frozen fruity drinks. Like some of the other staff members, bartenders not very friendly. Enoyed sunset cruise/snorkel on the "Black Pearl". Most evenings visited the casino at the Hyatt next door. On our last night my husband won a jackpot of $3200.00 - entire trip paid for! We'll definitely return to Aruba Pročitajte više

The hotel and amenities were good but the beds and pillows atrociously bad. Bring your own pillow!!!! We arrived amidst a fair amount of construction, but we understand that this has to happen SOME time....so we overlooked it. The real disappointment had to do with the beach itself. They are working on cleaning up the silt, but the murky waters were […] really disgusting. Be prepared to tread water because you are NOT going to want to put your feet down. The pool got pretty scummy toward the middle of the day. Now let me tell you about my travels to the Playa Linda in years past...I'd rate the hotel and beach at 99% perfect. The hotel needs updating, rooms are outdated but very clean. Great location, swimming pool is OK, not very big. The hotel over all is basic. Concierge was never available and I had attempted to talk to whomever numerous times. Very comfortable suite. Large bed with optional pull out couch. Kitchenette was clean, compact and modern. Room service excellent. Close to lots and lots of shopping for her and casinos for him. Beach was super clean. we went snorkeling and swimming. Weather is 85 F with nice breeze. We would go back in a heart beat.

The Playa Linda Timeshare Resort is a place you should consider staying in Aruba. We got a studio room from Expedia and it ended up really being a one bedroom suite. Each […] room has a great view of the ocean and most have a view of the ocean and pool area. There are plenty of superb restaurants around the resort and therefore a car is not needed. Taxi and bus service is efficient. You can take in a day at the spa, play bingo at the pool deck and learn to salsa and work out with water aerobics.
