Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa - Singapur

The hotel is simply amazing. The room is really big and the price is reasonable. The location is very tranquil. My favourite place in Sentosa. Definitely coming back and keen to stay at the villa next time.

It's a nice place to stay but it's out of place and if you want a convenient place to stay it's not your first choice however the atmosphere and the room decoration is great really love the place the courtyard suite and thier checkout timing is very strict and not flexible i hate it.. forced me to book an additional night..

What was meant to be a relaxing getaway turned into a traumatic experience for me and my child. It all started when I checked into the pool villa (No.6) - only to be greeted by a MURKY POOL. To which, the hotel staff transferred us to another pool villa (No.3). The pool still wasn't great (cloudy water), but better than the first one. Unfortunately, […] the flush in the TOILET wasn't working and I had to call the technician to come in to fix it (several parts had to be replaced). When I thought I could settle down for the evening, I went to take a shower, but there were no TOILETRIES in sight. Finally, after housekeeping brought in the toiletries and I was done with my shower, I walked back to the living room (past the pool), and saw a RAT swimming in it! A call to the staff resulted in the removal of the rat from the pool and a change to ANOTHER room (this was around midnight!). They finally moved me to the Larkhill Suite - much newer facilities. Whilst I appreciate the prompt and friendly service recovery (late checkout, dining credits & an upgrade on my next stay...although I'm not sure whether I'll be checking in again anytime soon) consistently demonstrated the hotel staff, I am terribly disappointed with the Amara Sanctuary villa facilities and upkeep. Amara is within walking distance to the beaches and Resorts World. Beyond the convenience, little stands out about the hotel. Lobby looks fine but the actual hotel room needs a face lift (air con making noise, grainy TV resolution) and the Sky pool needs maintenance to remove stains and algae. The stay was peaceful and quiet (except for sounds of nature). It is not directly connected to the Resort World Sentosa, hence it will be quite a bit of hike to get there. Area for improvement: Quality of food at Shutters, the only restaurant that serves international cuisines and breakfast buffet.

All our pre arrangements had not been met. Ie airport transfers etc and was left waiting in airport. Not really set up for families which shocked as location was a family get away.

I booked a 2 night stay at the one bedroom villa and was really disappointed. Absolutely poor value considering the amount of money paid. Although the check-in was done very smoothly, there was no offer to provide a buggy to bring us to the villa. A request at the reception to help us make a dinner booking at the Forest Restaurant was ignored. Cleanliness […] was appalling - lots of leaf litter on the seating area under the cabana and also in the open air bath tub and the pool was also sandy and littered with twigs and leaf. It was obvious that the villa was not cleaned for a number of days. Maintenance was poor – two lights at the pool area were not working and also the switch of the Jacuzzi jets were held together by duct tape. One of the benefits of staying at the villa was the complimentary mini-bar. But to my disappointment, the items there were greatly reduced – 2 cans of beer, 2 bottles of orange juice and 2 cans of Pepsi. There was note which said that the items at the mini-bar were reduced for the convenience of guests who may want to bring their own drinks. How considerate of the Management! Our room was not ready for check-in. We had to wait for 1 1/2 hours, with other families in the lobby, their rooms was also not ready for check in. There was not enough seating to sit in the lounge. When we got our room, there was no bed for my child, as was booked. The next day our room was not made up and I had to phone and request them to please come and make our room, even although the sign was out. I went and told reception I was not happy about the service but they did not try and fix our problem. We went and had a meal in the restaurant. There was staff being trained. First our order was mixed up, then my plate was nearly taken away while I was still eating and the coffee order was wrong. We could not believe the things they got wrong. You would not expect such service and incompetence. We decided to stay at this hotel because it is situated on Sintosa Island, close to the resort parks and looked like a very good hotel. Unfortunately, our stay was really very disappointing. I would definitely not recommend a stay at this hotel. There is other hotels even closer to the resort parks in the same price range. A slightly rocky start to our stay as I arrived quite late at night, with three young children. There was no doorman and no help with the luggage. Check-in was simple as I had pre-paid and key was issued quickly. The room we were given initally was adapted for the handicaped, so the kids had fun with the toilet support in the bathroom. The shower in the bathtub was broken and the head rattled all over the place as we freshned up from our long trip from the UK. The poor start was soon made up by the friendliness of the staff. The rooms are modern and well decorated and a good size. The staff arranged to move us to a more suitable room the next day. The breakfasts are in the Shutters Restuarant and have a great selection The staff couldnt have been more accomodating and were extremely helpful to the children. The hotel facilities and location are extremely good - the Sky Pool is great with good views. The main pool is a few min walk a way from the main hotel, its a little too deep for kids and the childrens pool was quite unimpressive. Wi-Fi is only available in the hotel lobby, with Wired internet available in the room if you know where to look. It is my view that the experience we take away from a hotel reflects the staff and management, not the buildings and level of accommodation. Unfortunately, at the Amara sanctuary, the standard of service let down what could be a truly great resort. We stayed in a one bedroom pool villa. The impression, upon entry, was of a truly great room. That was […] the last good impression we had. The next four days we became increasingly annoyed and disappointed. A faulty switch on a spa jet, which also appeared faulty, led to endless complaints seeking to have the switch repaired so we could just leave the jet off. The answer by staff was to call when we wanted it on or off and they would turn the filter off to achieve this. I do not really want to swim in a pool where the filter is not running long enough to keep the pool healthy so we put up with the jet till we wanted to go to sleep and called to have it switched off then. Not that sleep came easily when, three nights running, a party group would congregate in an adjoining villa. This was not the same group and villa but a different one every night. Ringing to have a party shut down at 1.30am is not what I call staying in a sanctuary. The impression I got was that this happens regularly. Whilst I was assured that there was a limit of four people per villa (I counted 12 in one) and no noise after 7.30pm, there were limited efforts to police numbers. For the price, I was surprised at the lack of amenities in the hotel. I did not like the fact that there was no smoking "except for designated areas" which you could not find on your own. I did not like that the room had no place comfortable to sit and relax. There was a couch with a low back and a hard backed chair for the desk. The hotel is generally a nice place for a short break. However, the bathtub drainer was stuck and as such could not be utilised even after a staff had fixed it earlier. Refrain from using the phone even for local calls as charges are rather high. It's the first time I have stayed in a hotel that imposed a charge for local calls made.

The stay wasn't up to par or worth what we paid for. We had booked a king bed 3 months ahead for a special romantic night out. We ended up with two single beds joined together with a thin sheet above the beds. The bathroom facilities were old with stains near the toilet. We booked 3 months ahead to get the wrong room, and no apology, not even an offer to give us a lift to the cable car station to go back to the mainland after our trip. It is an excellent experience to spend 3 nights at this hotel. The location is quite good and only need less than 10mins walk to Luge - the most game my son like the most. As well it is very closed to the Monorail station - Imbiah which can let you take the metro to any place you want.

This hotel is a good choice for doing stuff on Sentosa Island but it is little far from the rest of Singapore (although nothing is really that far in Singapore). I would recommend it and use it again.

Unlike the other hotels in Sentosa, this hotel is a real sanctuary as it is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of tourist activities. Great hotel for a mid-week staycation. Did need to be moved rooms with some construction noise outside first room, but they did so without any hassle. Very helpful staff - no request was too hard. The Amara Sanctuary Resort in Sentosa with its ambience, layout and the room furnishings and amenities offer a true sanctuary to weary souls escaping from the hustle and bustle of the city. We stayed here for 1 night during a 3 week holiday visiting family in Singapore. We wanted to stay on Sentosa so we could enjoy some of the many attractions, both during the day, and into the evening too. This hotel is well placed, being close to the Merlion and therefore main attractions at Resorts World (Universal Studios, casino etc), as well as […] being a short walk away form Palawan and Siloso beaches. The room was great value and very comfortable, and we found the hotel staff helpful and welcoming. There is also a nice pool with views towards the sea, the Merlion, and back over to Singapore. This hotel is brilliantly located for Sentosa. On a side note however, having spent a lot of time in Singapore, I can't imagine Sentosa would be a good base to see the main sights on Singapore itself. But it depends what you're after! The hotel rooms was in tip-top condition. The service staffs were polite and helpful. The surrounding environment was quiet and relaxing. A place where i would consider returning again. Location can be tricky for some, nevertheless it is a outstanding stay.
