Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Kent State University - Kent

There's a cluster of hotels around where 43 meets I-76 and this hotel is by far the best one. It's a couple miles from Kent and Kent State and there's really not much immediately around the hotel so you won't be able to walk anywhere to get food other than a Mexican Restaurant next door. Room is always way too expensive for what you get. Paid over $140 & there wasn't even a fidge or microwave n the room! That's extra. Nice rooms, but not that nice!

i had 3 adults stay in a room on the ground floor for the weekend that had 2 queen beds. the room was neat and clean as well as was the bathroom. We took advantage of the breakfast instead of going out to a restaurant, this is our 2nd stay at Holiday Inn Express, and we wont hesitate to stay again.

This is a hotel that is in good condition and was pleasing to stay at, it isn't close (walking distance) to anything except a not great Mexican restaurant, but if you Google a place called "Rays Place" it is definitely worth the 10 minute drive

Basic rooms but comfy and a wonderful bath tub in the suite, well worth upgrading. Super friendly & efficient staff. A but if noise from upstairs neighbor clomping around but overall a good value and pleasant experience.

The was polite and courteous. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We were slightly disappointed that the pancake machine was broken but the breakfast was so helpful we left happy.

All the Staff people we came in contact with were Courtious, they were all helpful and answered all our questions. The Food service was excellent , as well as the staff working in the breakfast area.

The only problem I had was hearing a lot of noise sometime after 10 pm. People were thumping around. We probably should have been put in a room that was not so close to the front desk.

First the location was very good, right off the Interstate, very clean and up-scale. Great breakfast bar, very good bed flat screen tv. and a good price. plan to stay there again next trip.

I noticed that the bathtub was not well cleaned as there was hair around the edge. Also, the mattress was thin and not comfortable.

Hotel is conveniently located off Route 80/76 making it a snap to get started the next day. We were traveling with 4 kids so the indoor pool provided a great diversion. Breakfast was easy and quick. Overall a good experience. Only issue was checking in. Front desk was empty for 15 minutes when we arrived.

I imagine the manager is rather fussy because this is the cleanest hotel I have been in! Here you will not find a smudge on the mirror or stray hair in the bathroom - the rooms are IMMACULATE. The staff is friendly without being in your face. The breakfast is hot. The sheets are crisp. You will sleep well.

You get what you expect for this hotel. It is a smaller hotel. So there is one person at the front desk only and if this person is busy you have to wait. However, the staff was friendly and fast. The rooms are nice and up to date. Well the air-conditioning (block under the window) is not to my taste. I did stay in a room facing away for the street […] which was perfectly quite. There is no way to get an evening meal in the hotel, that is there is no restaurant in the hotel. There is a Mexican restaurant in 4 minutes walking distance, which was okay (cheap but very good value for money & friendly staff). The taxi service was took 40 minutes to arrive the other company was booked for 2 hours. So you better oder you taxi the evening before. Doing floor exercises in the room first morning, I noticed the splash stains on bottom of the full length mirror and from the doorknob down (almost like spilled coffee) So not as clean as I like. Pleasant decor though. Surprised to find that there were no options for pay per view on TV and so my one night in that I thought I could rent a movie was not […] possible. The staff didn't know how to operate the TV in the main breakfast... oh and breakfast.... dreadful! The hardboiled eggs seemed to have a very bad tasted to me. ( Didn't like the idea that someone had already peeled them!) And as someone looking for healthier options, one morning they only put out white bread for toast. And of course the obiigatory sweet stuff. For fresh fruit there were only bananas... no oranges.So it was skim milk and raisin bran every morning for me. My husband , who is not picky was not pleased either. The workout room was good and I never had to fight for the treadmill each day. Thank goodness for that because there was only one. my wife and i stayed at the holiday inn on 2/17-19 while we were attending a kent state track meet for my step son. our room had a king sized bed in what i thought was a large and clean room on the 3rd floor. the entire hotel was clean and decorated well. our breakfast with pancakes, eggs and biscuits and gravy was a welcome over the traditional muffins […] and juice that most hotels provide. Room was spacious and clean, other than the McDonald's bag someone left in the trash can. Nice breakfast, but I would have appreciated room service in the evening after a long drive. Not available. Housekeeping was on the hall but missed our room the first day. We could hear noise at night from other rooms around us, as well as above. Breakfast was just so-so. Powdered scrambled eggs, plastic like pancakes. only one type of danish, omlett with some type of meat concoction inside the size of a quarter. coffee was very weak. Hostess was very nice and attentive.

The staff was friendly and accomodating. The room was clean except for mold on the shower curtain. The bed was very comfortable. It was fairly close to our reason for being in Kent. The breakfast was ok; the same as other Holiday Inns. I would recommend it and would stay there again.

Nice clean hotel with an enforced no smoking and quiet hours policy that was easy to get to and had a nice natural area on two sides. The only down side was breakfast was not very good. Overall a very good experience.
