We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was small and service was perfect. Location could not have been better, especially since the wedding we were coming for was just at the hotel next door which was way out of our budget. Location to the city life was perfect. Our room was just right for us, but i believe there were several rooms that have been upgraded […] that were a bit nicer. It was clean and comfortable. Only request would have been for softer bed sheets, especially after getting a bit of a sun burn, the rough texture did not feel so great. Kind of a no frills resort but great location and well maintained. The spiral staircase takes a little time to get used to. Breakfast on the balconey was a very nice touch. We would not hesitate to plan another trip to this resort.

Very disappointed in the staff and the room had no hot water half of our stay. The location is great and playa is very fun. If they fix the water problem I would consider staying there again only because of cost and the location.

We have a wonderful 1 bedroom suite upper level - Staff was great - location was great. We did get sick the last 2 days we were there and heard a of a lot of others sick - I can account for where/how it happened... other then that - would highly recommend this hotel.

My husband and I stayed to celebrate our 8th anniversary. The hotel is right on the beach and just blocks away from great restaurants. The staff at Playa Palms were extremely friendly and helpful. Beautiful rooms and beautiful view. If you don't want a monolithic all inclusive, this is the place for you. I would certainly stay here again.

The hotel was very nice and clean. But I paid more for a ocean view room while all I got it a room with trees view and if you try hard enough you'll see a piece of sea. Just for that I left the hotel and found me a better deal. In addition, the breakfast include only coffee and 1 croissant.

The stay was great, the boutique style hotel was at a great location right on the beach, one block to the heart of 5th Avenue, and right in the middle of the nightlife. The room had everything we needed, however, there was a small amount of maintenance the room needed. All in all, this was a great place, with a great location.

This is the coolest small Hotel I have ever stayed at. It appears to have been built in between two other buildings with the center exposed and viewing the water. The pool is good size and a neat shape in the center. We have already decided as we go back to Playa, The Palms is our new go to place.

The hotel room was clean and spacious. The room was just a few yards from the beach and a short walk from main shopping, restaurants and night life. The staff did a great job with providing assistance when needed. There was a small kitchen in the room if you wanted to buy food and heat a small meal. I felt very safe staying at this hotel.

This little hotel is a gem. It's right on the beach and all the rooms have free bottled water in them, so you can just fill up your bottle and go. This may not seem like such a big deal, but not having to make multiple trips to a grocery store for water is considered a big convenience for me. After all, we are here to go on vacation, no run errands! […] The rooms were spotless, had all the amenities we needed for a week's stay, and was a 10 minute walk down the main strip to the ADO bus terminal (which safely transports you to all sorts of attractions for super cheap, think Chichen Itza and the ruins in Tulum). Make sure you ask for a room that's as close to the ocean as possible though if you don't like listening to noise from the nearby nightclubs. The closer you are to the beach, the less street noise you will have. We stayed in room 202 and didn't hear any street noise at all. A great hotel, we would definitely stay here again! Facilities according to expectations. It's not a 5 stars hotel, but not ugly or old. It gives you that romantic sensation of being in a little local hotel in the caribbean. It's one block from the 5th avenue, and half block from the 12th street. The 5th avenue is a walking street full of restaurants and commerce, very nice for walking in the night because of the movement, enviroment and lighting. Good service. The staff was very kind and were allways with good attitude to help you. About breakfast, noise and parking. The breakfast included is called continental breakfast: orange juice, coffee and a croissant (midium size). Not a good breakfast, but for additional 8 usd you can have a acces to the buffet and better dishes. We didn't hear the noise of the clubs in the night, and had no problems to sleep. There is a field at the end of the booking process for especial, here in expedía, where you can request that you prefer to be allocated as far as posible from the night club's noise. We were 2 families with 2 kids . Its a small cute hotel and just steps to the beach. The front desk were very helpful. They helped in arranging taxi to the ruins. There is a massage spa right in front of the hotel. My husband and myself liked it very much.

The Playa Palms is an awesome little slice of paradise. It has a full kitchenette so you can eat breakfast and lunch on your balcony and drink your own beer to save money. The only bad part is that the beach front has a bunch of fishermens boats and sea weed but the beach up by the hotel is nice and quiet.

This hotel is clean and comfortable and the employees are excellent. It is twice the price of some of the neighboring hotels and to us it was not worth the extra cost. They did have free bottled water in every room and near the pool which was nice. The first room we were given was oceanfront but it was the WORST room in the place. It is on the ground floor and very exposed to the beach. At the end of the day the beach chairs are stacked in front of the picture window which is not at all appealing. The floor to ceiling window only had a shear curtain on it so at night everyone could see right in. Not comfortable at all. Do not stay in Room 101. We asked to move and the next morning were moved to Room 202 which was very nice. The hotel was right on the beach but the seaweed was not removed like it was on other stretches of the beach so it was rather smelly and you have to go up or down the beach to enter the water as there is so much seaweed in the water in front of this property. And lastly, the hotel is one property removed from several night clubs so if that is not your scene you might want to avoid this area. very friendly service and a great position close to 5th Ave stores, and on the beach. We had to change rooms as we extended our stay and the music from the next door disco was definitely an issue at 4am....vbery inconsiderate neighbours. We didnt hear it at all in the first room, so sound proofing must work better in certain rooms.

Wonderful location right by all of the restaurants and bars and all the rooms face the beach. The hotel doesn't really have a restaurant but the adjoining locations deliver to your room and you can walk next door for food, drink. I highly recommend this hotel. For the price and location it is hard to beat. Clean, safe, and right on the beach.

Hotel staff was great, very accommodating and polite. We didn't use the pool, water was very cold. The beach was wonderful and included food and drink service from the bar next door. Rooms were neat and were cleaned regularly. Noise was a problem late at night when our neighbors decided to cause a ruckus.

We just returned from our first stay at the Playa Palms Beach Hotel. We were there for 4 nights just before Thanksgiving. I had read all the reviews prior to our trip and let me tell you, they do not do the place justice. The location is right on the beach and you wake up to the sound of the ocean. The rooms are lovely - we stayed in the ocean view […] studio and it was lovely: spacious, clean and nice. There was a full kitchen in the room, which was wonderful and unexpected. We bought our own beer and water from town and kept it in the fridge; when we went out to the beach, Edwin or Rod, whoever was working on the beach that day, would bring us a bucket of ice. When we arrived, the TV in the room wasn't working well. We told the front desk about this and within the hour, we had a replacement TV, which we were completely happy with. But within the day, we had a brand new TV. It was such lovely service. The beach area is small, but we really liked that fact bc it also meant that the beach was not crowded. The hotel is right next to some big nightclubs, but truthfully, there was never any noise. Perhaps that is a bigger issue if you are in a room at the front of the hotel. We were 2 blocks from 5th ave and would just walk over for food or just to meander around the town, which is a lot of fun. Edwin, was fantastic, kind and so helpful, and the staff, from Luis, the manager, to Dalia, the housekeeper, made our stay lovely. The staff here is sincerely friendly, make you feel at home. The location is supreme, right on the beach, two minute walk to center of Fifth Avenue. Close to the party zone just a little noisy sometimes. Overall we'd recommend this hotel with high grades for relaxation and safety.

We enjoyed our stay here, the staff were accomodating and friendly. The setting adorable, great location, very quaint. The major drawback is that there is a nightclub located next door that is extremely loud until 2:00 a.,m. If you are going to party, you will love it! If you are going for R & R, best to pick a more restful night time location.

This was our second trip to playa del carmen and we had had such a great stay previously. So maybe it's a little unfair to compare the two but this one didn't measure up at all. It was further down the beach, (on 12th instead of the one on 6th) and although it was right on the beach, the part infront of the hotel was unusable because of all the boats […] anchored, plus it was rocky and lots of seaweed. We ended up walking down the beach to the place we were in before to swim there as it was still perfect. The room was ok, kinda small but othewise fine. However it was next to 3 clubs that went all night long. Luckily, we had earplugs so we usually slept through it. I noticed it got louder as the week progressed (we were there mon- wed night) so I can't imagine what it was like on the weekend!
