"Good and bad"
I do not understand why a half full hotel doesn't automatically put at least one unoccupied room between each guest when they can. In my case I listened to someone snore most of the night. I probably snore too, but I don't want to keep other people awake and I doubt that person did either. When I checked out, a very nice manager suggested that when […] I checked in I say I am a light sleeper, but this was a Sunday night and the parking lot was empty so there were many open rooms. Just a suggestion to always put rooms between guests. The hotel was clean. The room had to have the a/c on to get down to 68%, even though it was 45% outside. There were no eggs on a Monday morning breakfast buffet and the staff person said it was because they were all used up over the weekend and instead of going over to Caseys next door, they would wait for more to be delivered. "Great hotel. Whole family loved it."
I have family in Sioux City so we drive down from the Twin Cities regularly and we're always tired when we get there. This trip was our first staying at the Holiday Inn Express (formerly Hampton Inn), but probably not our last. It's a bit more expensive than the hotels we usually book, but our stay was great. The room was clean, nicely appointed and […] well laid-out, with a large bathroom, big TV, good-sized fridge and comfy bedding. The pillows were all poly fiber, which is *huge* for me since I'm allergic to down -- I realize that might be a strike against it for some of you. The cleaning service missed our room on Saturday for some reason (why the score got knocked way down to a 4 on a couple of questions above) but otherwise did excellent work. We were in Sioux City for my Aunt's funeral so it was not a scheduled trip but we were welcomed at the front desk. I was asked why I was visiting and I told the young lady and she expressed her sympathy, which she didn't have to do. Checkin was quick and painless. Our room was excellent. The food for breakfast was great, the hot items were hot and […] the cold items were cold. There was plenty to eat. My daughter left her financial folder in the hotel. On the way to the funeral I called the hotel and they said they found the folder and it would be at the front desk. I have left things at hotels in the past and not always able to retrieve them. The hotel is in a good spot, across from eateries; shopping and right off the expressway which is great! We enjoyed our stay and will book again when we stay overnight. The front desk staff were VERY pleasant, the room was comfortable, clean and very well designed. I liked all the little pictures and words on the elevator doors and by the room numbers...they made you smile.
