Just spent 4 nights and were very pleased. We reserved a superior room for us and a standard room for our son, but he was upgraded to a small superior room on arrival. Our room (201) was a comfortable size and faced the side of Haga Sofia. Nice, updated bathroom with a tub that you needed a step stool to climb into. My son's (205) faced the same way, […] and was fine for one person - for 2 people, it would have been too small. It looked like all the other rooms in the main building were decent size, so just watch out for the "5" line. His bathroom was nice but compact, with just a shower. Windows were pretty good at keeping the room quiet, and the street we faced is very quiet at night. I heard that the rooms in the annex are smaller, so might be worth the extra cost for a superior room. Staff was very friendly and helpful. On check-in, they sat with us and marked up a map of the city to point out all the places we'd want to see. Great breakfast with lots of variet in a lovely room looking over part of the city - it can get crowded around 8:30 and you might have to wait 10-20 minutes to get in. Location of the hotel is fabulous. You can walk to everything in the old city, but you can also take advantage of the tram a couple of blocks away. Overall, nice hotel for good value. We were in Instanbul for two nights, one full day only. We were very happy with the hotel. The people at the reception desk were friendly and attentive even though we did not get there until 1:00am. The location is fabiolous being just across the street overlooking the Hagia Sofeya Museum and also seeing the Blue mosque of Sultan Ahmet. I have no hesitations about recommending the Ottoman Hotel Imperial. The location is perfect for anyone visiting the historic sights in the old town, not far from the ferry terminal and station and close to trams/taxis if going further afield. The staff were wonderfully welcoming, greeting us with a refreshing glass of cherry juice, some Turkish Delight […] (of course!) and a map of the area and did an excellent job of guiding in our taxi driver when he was stymied by temporary road closures. We had lovely rooms facing the Haghia Sophia and the hotel was able to accommodate our request (made on booking) for a Queen sized bed for my brother who was traveling alone, but is on the tall side. Minor quibble that the bathroom was a bit snug,so my partner and I had to dance around each other, but there was plenty of hot water and the room was otherwise very well appointed as are the public areas of the hotel. A great boutique-style hotel in the most wonderful location in the city for the visitor, situated across a little cobble-stoned laneway from the garden wall of Hagia Sophia, with Topkapi Palace on the other side. The young lady who takes care of Concierge duties and general guest relations is a gem. The breakfast (included in the room rate) is very good, especially if you're lucky to be there when the luscious figs are in season. Their restaurant features historically-documented recipes of the Ottoman era--excellent food, good quality wines and professional service. This is not a "cheap and cheerful" tourist-style restaurant. The food was so good we ate there twice during our 5 night stay. It has a good reputation with a fair sprinkling of locals on both occasions, plus a number of diners were from other, higher-grade hotels. Although not large, the room was very comfortable, nicely furnished in a traditional Ottoman theme, with a good bathroom. We only needed the air-con on one night. Ideal location near the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, etc. had a few drawbacks: street noise penetrates some rooms, and limited street access kept our taxi from dropping us at the entrance. The hotel staff was exceptroinally helpful and the facilities were impeccable.

We really enjoyed staying at the Ottoman this past week, the location couldn't be better and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our only issue was that the Internet didn't work on our side of the ole some had to go to the lobby or bar to get a signal. Other than that was n excellent choice among the many hotels in Istanbul.

I highly recommend this hotel; however, it is very hard to find if you are taking a taxi. Make sure you have the address AND telephone number of the hotel, as many of the taxi drivers have to call for directions. The Ottoman Hotel Imperial is located across a narrow coblestone street from the Hagia Sophia. We had a sultan category room that looked onto the Hagia Sophia which is lighted at night. Topkapi Palace was a two minute walk to the left out of the hotel and the Blue Mosque was five minutes to the right. Breakfast was included in the rate. It was served in a glass enclosed room on the second floor off the back of the hotel with views of rooftops, old buildings and a minaret or two. The breakfast items were mostly the same each day but the choices were quite extensive so we found plenty to like. The staff were very helpful with directions, booking airport transport and tickets to evening performances. They offered to arrange daytrips for us but we preferred to travel independently. Once we figured out the tram lines (with two stops very near the hotel) we were able to get around town fairly easily. If I return to Istanbul I would definitely consider staying at the hotel again. Generally speaking the Ottoman Hotel Imperial is a very good small hotel; however some of the rooms on Level 600 ( #608 for instance) are oddly situated insofar as they are actually below grade and face into the wall of an adjoining building. It is like staying in a dim basement apartment. I highly recommend the Mathab Restaurant in the hotel

The location of this hotel could not be beat in Istanbul, it is located directly adjacent to the Hagia Sofia. We were however there during a cold spell in March with snow and freezing temps and found that the room did not really get warm.
