A lovely old hotel, with beautiful grounds, comfortable rooms, and lovely staff. Has the feel of a boutique hotel. We spend one night there and enjoyed a great meal in the old swan restaurant, with brandy by the log fire place. The setting was perfect! Gorgeous setting, maintains a very cosy feel despite having quite a lot of rooms. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for - this was a little bit of luxury. Food was excellent, very comfy beds! Didn't realise it's dog friendly too - if you like walking it's a fabulous location. This is a true chocolate box building set in a beautiful unspoilt village. The hotel and gardens arewell maintained, the bedrooms being well appointed with nice touches such as home made biscuits and a carafe of sloe gin, and high class toiletries.The hotel staff are very welcoming and helpful, and have a good knowledge of I treating places to see in […] the locality. I ruined an expensive pair of high heels by getting them stuck in the brickwork of the car park. Reception in a totally different part of the hotel - having to traipse luggage all the way over there, then back to the other part of the hotel to find my room which was along corridors, up stairs, down stairs - when i later found it would have been so much […] easier to have walked round the outside and in through the back. We had a room in the Minster Mill with contemporary furnishings. Entrance way to room very narrow, with a badly positioned wall light which you walk straight into. Difficult to negotiate with suitcases. Bathroom well appointed, however the ceiling was so low anyone taller than 5' 8" would not be able to stand upright whilst taking a shower. We have really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The hotel is very pleasing in a lovely location. The room was nice. We especially appreciated customer service. "no sound proofing in rooms"
The hotel is beautiful but our room in the modern wing had absolutely no sound proofing. People talking in the next room sounded as if they were in the room with us! We were moved to a room in the old building for our second night and the management couldn't apologize enough. I do think, however, that, for the price of the room, these sort of issues […] should have been ironed out long ago. "idylic Base for a Great Weekend in the Cotswolds"
A beautiful location with a very nice renovation of the old mill building in to modern funky rooms yet with character. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and chatty, the bed was incredibly comfortable and the evening meal we had there was very good. The breakfast spread they put on was exceptional, possibly the best i've ever enjoyed at a hotel […] in the Uk. This is possibly a bit more than I'd normally try to spend for two nights away but the food and level of comfort and service made it more than worth the extra £'s. I'd highy reccommend it. "Daylight at the minster mill"
the rooms in the mill are rather small, one foot gap on one side of a double bed and about 3 foot on the otherside. Our room on the first floor had a window in the apex that allowed light into the room at dawn, not good if you have a restless night. It was a tight squeeze to get around the door into the bathroom and then there were too many mirrors, […] presumedly to give the impression that the small bathroom was much larger. "Lovely hotel, but room for a little improvement"
It might have been slightly more welcoming had the curtains been drawn in our room, and the heating turned on when we arrived, but everything else was lovely, including the bathrobes and toiletries. Breakfast was slightly chaotic on both mornings of our stay, e.g. I would have preferred not to have had to listen to the owner/manager berating his staff […] about the quality of the eggs, etc. and I certainly don't want to see a dog anywhere near a kitchen/dining room, but generally the quality and quantity of the offering was fine. The serving of drinks in the Mill lounge area was also slightly shambolic, but really I'm just nitpicking. This is a really lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings.
