overall the stay was good. The check in proceedure and room accomodations were great. I thought the breakfast hrs. ending at 9:30 were a little short and they didn't replenish the food regularly. "Hotel was fine, area not so much"
I arrived and was trying to get a meal with no car of my own. There were no takeout menus in the room, and the guy at the desk didn't have much to go by either. The hotel is OK. Clean,and decent location. I got a room on the street side (US rt 1) and the road noise is quite a lot. if you are used to sleeping in quiet surroundings or are a light sleeper, these rooms are not comfortable. Nice, adequate hotel. Breakfast was a carbohydrate load..... but adequate for price of hotel stay. Excercise room was small but good. "Very loud A/C unit & soaking wet floor"
We have stayed at this hotel many times in the past because it is very close to family that we visit. We stayed 2 nights and then returned a few days later after a trip down the shore. This trip was a bit disappointing... First room had a VERY LOUD air conditioner that kicked on every 3 minutes. I had to where ear plugs to sleep. The next room had an […] awful odor when we entered and 1/2 of the floor was soaking wet from an apparent A/C unit malfunction. They did accommodate us with a replacement room, though. However, surprised that they did not offer an upgrade for the inconvenience. Very brown bananas one day, no bananas the next, and no hot water for tea on another. Good room, reasonable price, conveniently close to Newark airport from the south. Clean, nice touch with the little bag of goodies and water at registration. Access a bit difficult if you haven't been there before because the turnoff from Rtes 1 & 9 is not well marked and is ahead of the hotel. This hotel was lovely, friendly staff, beautifully appointed rooms. The granite bathroom was an unexpected luxury, as was the "goodie bag" of snacks and bottled water I was presented when I checked in. The only complaint I have is the complete lack of soundproofing. THE ROOM MY WIFE AND I HAD IN THIS HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS IN AVENEL, NJ, MUST BE THE ONLY ROOM(213) WITH NO BARRIER BETWEEN THE WALLS. PROBABLY BECAUSE IT HAD ALL THE DRAIN PIPES FOR THE UPPER ROOMS IN THEM! AT AROUND 6 A.M. IT WAS LIKE A WATERFALL IN THE WALLS. "Just what I was looking for!"
My boyfriend and I stayed here on New Year's Eve and attended a party at a local bar. The service at the hotel was excellent. We were quickly checked-in, informed of the hours for the free continental breakfast, and provided a party pack with snacks and water bottles. The front desk was helpful in calling a taxi for us as well. The room was much larger […] than I expected. Everything was clean and the bed was very comfortable. I would gladly stay here again if the need arises. The only negative is the surrounding area. The hotel is located right on US-1 and not in the most picturesque area, so it is probably best suited for business or visiting people/attractions in the local area. "ONLY AVERAGE"
The hotels only good for sleeping in the nigh. Rooms are clean but just average. Its not the 4.8 rating I saw at expedia, we were expecting much more due to the ratings, believe its very average. Hotel was clean, and breakfast was good although for the price the food could have been done at a higher quality standard, and they should have been able to provide a crib, witch we requested prior to arriving. Lovely and clean. Great decor.Good rates.. staff were FANTASTIC. Pool was a little disappointing (3 ft deep) Breakfast...delicious and plentiful. Great location and accessibility to NYC. Neighbour - outskirts of town. Shopping and restaurants within a 19 min drive. "Excellent Hotel"
This hotel was excellent - VERY clean - the staff VERY friendly and accomdating and the free breakfast was truly the best "free breakfast" I have ever been offered at a hotel - and after recently staying in a 4 star hotel in DC where the breakfast cost about $ 25.00 for much less - it was an unexpected surprise.
