Very nice hotel. Food was terribly expensive so we ate elsewhere. Piña colada with a float was $20! Pool was very nice -no closing time at night! Beach access was much better than surrounding hotel's since the waves were bigger and the feel was more secluded and private. Staff was very nice overall. Bartenders lacked a little in the personality department […] and were a little standoff-ish. The bed in the room was much to hard and canoed on both sides. Time to be replaced. "Excellent hotel"
We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Kapalua for 3 nights, and we had such a wonderful time. The staff at the hotel were very helpful. We got upgraded to a room with an ocean view, we had an awesome view, and a huge lanai. We entded up getting a bottle of wine and dinner from the general store near by and had dinner with a view. We had 3 meals at the hotel, […] light lunch at the lounge, breakfast buffet at the Terrace Cafe and dinner at Banyan Tree. Attentive service, good quality food, who can ask for more? Spent a couple of hours by the pool, I ordered some nachos from the pool side staff. There is a $25 /day resort fee, but that included a resort shuttle, which could take you around the Kapalua area. We ended up using the resort a lot, to go to a pancake place nearby, Plantation House and to a couple of beaches. It was very helpful. We would definitely stay here again. My husband and I came here for a couple days for our Babymoon. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable. We had breakfast on the lanai situated on the golf course. It appeared from the outside that no room had a bad view. We didn't spend anytime at the pool, but spent time on the beach just down the hill from the resort. Pros -Walking paths to D.T Fleming Beach and Dragon's Teeth rock formation -Hotel Shuttle that will take you to/from area restaurants/beaches -Clean Rooms -Nice sitting area off the sand at DT Flemings (for those who hate sand or unable to access the beach) -Nice Gym. I'm always surprised to see hotel gyms with free weights -3 pools plus 1 pool for small children. 1 of the 3 pools is designated for adults only -2 Hot tubs -Room Safes -Beautiful grounds Cons -Very windy area. Sometimes it feel like you are being sand blasted on D.T Fleming's beach because of the wind. Great scapegoat for a terrible golf shot though :-) -Rains off and on a lot. Usually clears quickly though -Approx 1 hour from OGG Airport. LEAVE WITH AMPLE TIME TO GET TO THE AIRPORT. Traffic starts to get congested as you get closer. We left 3 hours before our boarding time. 1hr to get there, 1 hr for rental car return and security, 1 hr to spare -Limited selection of restaurants in walking distance. We absolutely loved our stay at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua. The only suggestion that I would make is that the rugs in the hallways where the rooms are looking somewhat is worn. the terrace rooms we stayed in was very nicely decorated, clean with very comfortable beds and linens plus luxurious spa toiletries. "Great family Christmas experience"
Our overall family experience was great. The property allows you to spend a lot of time on-site relaxing. The hotel staff was very friendly and we found our room to be spacious enough for the two of us and our two crazy kids. "Fabulous Hawaiian Getaway!"
This is a first class hotel, with a first-rate spa. The food in each of the restaurants was excellent. I loved having free fruit flavored water and sunblock at the pools, and free bottled water in the room. There was an empty fridge, and a Hawaiian-styled convenience store next door, for those times when we just didn't want a full meal out. I missed […] not having chocolates with turn-down service. "Unbelievable grounds"
My wife and I stayed in the hotel for our honeymoon trip to Hawaii. We didn't rent a car and there is not much to do in the area, so we were limited to a few activities. "Couldn't ask for more"
Before even we asked, they upgraded us to a partial ocean view room. We had views of the Plantation golf course and more than three quarter of ocean view. We couldn't ask for more. The food was great and whole staff were awesome. Plantation Golf Course was preparing for the Samsung PGA tournament in first week of Jan. So, the condition of the course […] was superb. The outdoor areas are really nice, EXCEPT for the tennis facility, which is in a state of disrepair. So sad as they have (used to have) eight courts, and the area is beautiful. The hotel provide the usual level expected of Ritz Carlton. Only small criticism of the property is the hall rugs need replacement. The food offerings, however, fell way short. The resort is located pretty far from town and so food availability was important. The main restaurant was closed for renovation. We were not told this ahead. The only other […] restaurant option was Japanese which would have been fine but was also closed two nites of our stay. We wound up eating appetizers in the bar, and lite fare at the pool. "Probably the worst Ritz I've ever stayed at"
Maybe it's just me that expects to be blown away when you're paying for a hotel like the Ritz, but it just didn't seem the service was really any better than a typical hotel. Our room wasn't ready at check-in, so they said they'd call us, but never did. Then we checked-in and were disappointed to have a ground floor room without a view. The bed was […] uncomfortable and we both had a terrible night's sleep - the worst of our trip. We left the Ritz with bags under our eyes and looked more tired than when we arrived. On the bright side - the bellboys were the most helpful and nicest people working at the Ritz. They would go above and beyond each time with service, but I didn't feel that way from anyone else I encountered at the resort. I was also let down by the fact their beach is just so-so. It's small and not great for swimmers (the waves/water was very rough). On the other hand, after we left the Ritz and went to Kaanapali, their beach was 100% better for laying out and swimming (and more visually appealing as well). And on top of it - they were renovating their best restaurant while we were staying there, so the poolside food was the only real option during the day.
