I wound up changing hotels halfway through my stay. This hotel isn't hateful, but it was a bit too old and rundown for my taste. No sign of bedbugs, but everything has a very rundown look and feel. Other than the bed - the fixtures and décor were from decades ago. I couldn't figure out how to get the HVAC to do anything other than super cold or boiling […] hot - no happy medium. With just a little more attention to detail and organization, this property could be much better. It was clean, though. Just little maintenance and organization things like a garbage cart and trash that sat on a sidewalk the entire time of our stay.

This hotel is nowhere near the 2.5 star rating that hotels.com gave. After our one-night stay, my evaluation of this hotel is 1.5 star rating, at best. The website pictures do not come close to the actual hotel scenery. The difference was night and day. Upon entering the room, the air was stale, carpeting was a bit filthy. Inspection of the mattress […] revealed no beg bugs, but there was a big, dark stain on the mattress that was covered by the sheets. Pillows were deflated. Bathroom and sink were sub-par. Although there was adequate hot water, the tub drainage was clogged. The toilet ran all night, evidence of leakage and water wasted. The booking advertised "free breakfast included", but upon arrival at the breakfast room at around 0845, there was virtually no more breakfast left. Tables and chairs were REALLY filthy; no one cleaned them up! For a 2.5 star rating with "good" reviews according to hotels.com, this misinformation was a grave injustice, and our overall experience from the one night stay was VERY POOR. Had the ratings been 1.5 stars, then you would've gotten your money's worth for the condition of the room, and we would not have booked this hotel. Conclusion? We asked for a non-smoking room, we did get the non-smoking room but it reaked of smoked, the clerk apologized gave us another room that was non-smoking. Our room was very spacious, close to the pool, nice view outside. The bath tub needed to be refinished, had brown rust on it and the bathroom door on the bottom needed some repair. I was very impressed with this hotel for the cost. It was located right next door to the Manatee park. My only complaints were the bath stopper not working correctly for my 4yr old's bath and I had to figure something out. This hotel was FILTHY, and I would never go back there. Not only were the grounds not kept in good shape, but the room itself was not very clean. Going to bed the first night, we noticed a large dirty spot on the sheets (pink, hard, and about the size of half a dollar bill). When we called the front desk, they said there was no housekeeping staff on […] grounds, and we needed to come get new sheets and remake the bed ourselves- not good customer service. We did, but we were given the wrong size sheets and had to do it again. The next morning while taking a shower, I discovered a large loofah sponge left over from the previous guests. That means that they didn't bother cleaning the shower in between bookings! After telling the front desk clerk about it, the loofah was never removed from our bathroom. If your only reason to stay here is because you can't find any other Hotel with an empty room, you'll survive, but you won't go back. It all "felt" old, run-down, kinda yucky. We were very close to the pool area, which made going to the pool very convenient. The room was comfortable, the bed was great and the air conditioner let you choose a room temp. degree which as also very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, we had a great time!

The hotel staff was superb. We arrived early and they let us check in. Restaurant was great and staff was very accommodating and informative. There is not a lot to do on the city but it was fun to spend time with my husband visiting the areas.

There were brownish colored splash stains on the inside of the bathroom door and dark brown or rust colored stains splattered on the ceiling of the bathroom. gross. i picked up some disinfecting wipes at the store and the ones on the door wiped away easily. The shampoo was extremely watery and was not replenished when house keeping came - neither was the coffee. There was a cigarette burn on the comforter (in a non-smoking room) and the mattress was really hard. Also - yes, also - the fan was not running when we checked in in the early evening so the room felt like a furnace. Not a nice welcome. There we a couple groups on our manatee swim tour that were staying here and had similar complaints. We had a terrific time. Luckily, the hotel had a live band on Saturday night which was excellent. It was right next to the Homosasoosa Springs which we want to visit the next day. Pool was huge and delightful for swimming. Breakfast could be better ... no fruit., just a few choices.

Having read reviews prior to booking the room, my expecatations were very low. The room and staff exceeded my expectations along with the convenient location. The MAJOR disappointment was the very loud AC unit in the room and the constant noise from people outside the room .... and we went to bed at 1 am.

The room smelled bad. We had to get a room deodorizer from CVS. We didn't feel safe walking barefoot on the creepy carpet. We definitely won't go back.
