The Karvin Hotel - Kairo

I was only here for one night, so I can't say anything about the breakfast. I came here after spending 3 weeks in 5 star resorts and wanted my last night in Egypt to be close to the airport. The staff was very accomodating and even made sure I had a car waiting for me and that I was awake at 1am to catch an early flight out of Cairo. They made change […] for me, asked if I wanted a boxed breakfast since I was leaving so early (I declined). Overall, the service was very good. I stayed in a small room (twin), which to me was a bit overpriced considering there was not much water pressure and smelled strange and the bed was a bit uncomfortable and there are dogs that bark all night long. But what really made up for it was the super cheap FAST internet. Also, the driver I had from my Gizah hotel had no idea where the hotel was. It's not that well known, so make sure your driver knows where they are going before you leave, or you may end up on a wild goose chase. Also, if you book, make sure you get an updated phone number. The one listed here didn't work. For a few hours of sleep, it was perfect. For a longer stay, I would go stay elsewhere and just plan for a longer taxi ride, as traffic can be intense. my stay was very pleasurable. Karvin staff helped in every way including getting me taxis to my conference, calling my hosts to find out how to get there. They went out of their way to help me. I'd recommend others to stay there.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the staff was very kind and helpful. The Chinese and Indian restaurants were very good and the roof was a nice hookah lounge and bar... On the down side, the hotel is located in somewhat crowded residential area and the room had a small fridge but not a mini bar per say...wifi was not free about $9 per 24 […] hours of connection... This experience was very bad since the service is not personal. I asked a morning for ironing my shirt (since they don't borrow) and it took so much time that I ended up by not doing it. The staff is letting you wait when you have request and are always "so sorry" about their mistakes or overcharge on things that are not suppose to be charged. After […] my first night, in my room where there were 2 single beds, they took care of taking one away, letting the room in a messy state without even taking the care of putting a new toilet paper roll. Myself and a friend stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in December 11. We found the room clean and the beds very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel for reasonably priced accommodation close to the airport. Spacious room with kettle, fridge etc. and decorated to a modern standard. There was a large hair clump in the bathroom when we arrived, and considering the bathroom was quite large, the shower was extremely small, requiring body contortions not to touch […] the surrounding shoer curtain. The roof top bar was extremely lively, but could not be heard from our room. We had to depart at 6.30am (just as breakfast started) so did not get chance to sample the breakfast menu. I found this hotel to be clean and comfortable, however the staff frustrated me to no end. I have traveled extensively through Egypt and the Middle East, and I am usually very satisfied with the level of service, however the hotel staff at the Karvin were generally unpleasant and unhelpful.
