The Riu's location on Bloody Bay is perfect. The hotel had 2 great outdoor pools plus a large beach area... perfect for a long morning walk. We were pleasantly surprised by the buffet food. RIU Negril is a great all-inclusive resort for families. The clientele, staff and environment is family friendly. The buffet is awesome. The only flip side I could think of is that the night time entertainment could be improved. RIU should ditch the stage show and instead set up a live band on the beach.

We have now stayed at both the Riu Negril and it's sister hotel, the Riu Tropical, which is just down the beach. Riu Negril is larger and generally more geared toward families - more entertainment and busier. However, despite being a large resort, it's layout meant that you never felt crowded and the noise level was always very acceptable in your room […] - the entertainment areas and lobby are clear on the other side of the resort from the rooms. Unless you're in the first few rooms of the first room block (which would be horrific), you've got a relatively quiet location. This was unlike the Tropical where the entertainment areas are centrally located and where noise traveled more to your room. Saying that, that Tropical was quieter overall. The one critique is that the level of service was less personal. At the buffets in the Tropical your party would be greeted and you would be sat down at a table, your drink order taken. At this Riu, it's fend for yourself... including flagging down a waiter to get a drink. Not a HUGE deal but it did mean less pleasing interactions with the staff in general, which, in the 4 times we've stayed in Negril now, have been a big part of our enjoyment in Jamaica. Also, I would say the food was a 3/5 vs. a 4/5 at the Tropical. Otherwise, great hotel for the money, good facilities and beautiful beach. Definitely recommend. Pročitajte više

Nice resort, food was good. Don't recommend the restaurants needing reservations as they are very slow and the food isn't any better than the buffet. The hotel is very nice and clean food is good, it look much better the on the pic. of the web side. The transferee from the Airport to the Hotel and back is not good. We was righting with Jamaica Tours Ltd. and have to wade 45 min for the pick up at the hotel never ever again with JTL.

Good location. Beach isn't great in front of the hotel (compared to others) but not too bad. Had a group of 5 coupes on our recent stay and everyone had bites on them from sand fleas. Recommend bringing bug spray or sun screen worked. I would recommend this hotel for a group of people wanting a party vacation and not romantic. From the moment we arrived everyone was friendly and helpful, hospitality was an A+.. We went to relax and celebrate our wedding anniversary, met a few people, drank and ate a lot. We had a lovely week at the RIU Negril. The food was much better than I expected. Good selection at the buffet with Jamaican specialties on offer. We tried all 3 a la carte restaurants. I would recommend the Brazilian restaurant, Luigi's, but wouldn't bother with Sir Andrew's "gourmet" restaurant. The resort was well kept (but not immaculate) with […] clean rooms, beaches and grounds. The large pool with the swim up bar always seemed a little murky to me but the smaller pool was crystal clear. We were on the third floor of building two. Our room had a great view, well stocked fridge and bar and really efficient air conditioning. The staff, especially the entertainment/recreation crew were friendly and accommodating. Our toilet was plugged and our room phone wasn't working the first morning of our stay. Took my two sons (ages 10 and 12) and stayed there for 8 days. In retrospect, it was probably a bit too long since there wasn't a lot of things to do there except lounging on the beach, pool, and gorge yourself at their dining halls. RIU Club is the less expensive to its neighbor RIU Palace so it may entice more of a rowdy crowd. It wasn't too bad. […] We did manage to take a couple of excursions through "Joe Cool Taxi" to see some local Negril sights and a bit further out to YS Falls and Black River Safari, just to break up our week at RIU. I believe it's cheaper than hiring a tour service through the hotel. The other tip is to take an afternoon trip to Margeritaville along 7 Miles since you can sit on their beach and enjoy the amazing white sand beach, not be hassled by the vendors, and you don't even have to purchase anything if you don't want to. The RIU is highly overated and it significantly lacks customer service. It is apparent that the RIU caters to its European guests more so than any other guest. The entertainment lacked that wow factor, it did not hold the attention of guests. I requested items for my room at the beginning of my stay and still had not received it at the end of my stay. […] I was told by a cleaning lady that I should wait on the porch while she cleaned...seriously! I went with my girls...awesome staff bar and beach. The food was the only let down of the trip. There were so many flys and bugs in the dining area. They also started taking the food away before the time they said it was open until. Also not enough towels and the air condition felt off...

Nice looking hotel, good , clean beaches with a lot of corners to snorkel, 200 feet off sand beach or walk toward the end of resort where fish sanctuary is located. Bring your own mask , snorkel and sandals to avoid cuts while stepping on stones during snorkeling ( no need to pay for snorkeling […] trip to the resort). I normally do not write reviews but the staff at the RIU was so amazing that I felt like everyone should have the opportunity to hear from someone who never heard the word "no". Kevoughn helped to arrange dinner on the beach. Rochelle helped us wrap conch shells to bring home. Theodore made sure we had cabs waiting for us when we woke up in the morning. The […] bar staff was so friendly and considerate that they would make our drinks as we walked towards the bar. I challenge you to ask a question of any member of the staff and hear an answer other than "no problem" or "yeah man". Please don't disregard this review because it is mainly positive. You need to put Negril, Jamaica and the Club Hotel Riu on your bucket list!!! I think the Club Hotel Riu is more of a place for couples, though. The hotel is not modern at all outdated furnishings, the cable was non-existent and wifi was only available in the lobby. There are frequent power outages and the rooms were not clean or well air conditioned. Various objects were thrown out by housekeepers and there was a crab problem on the ground floor.

Stayed for 7 days, didn't recieve wash cloths until the 3rd day, and then went without the last 2 days. One day the entire hotel was completely without ice! The buildings where the rooms are located, are on opposite ends from all going-on...and we were in building 3, which is a long walk - outdoors - with no protection from rain. So we got drenched […] walking to dinner in the rain, about a 5 minute walk. There was not much entertainment for the kids and were not many kids. I would definately not recommend this hotel for kids. The nightly entertainment was not very entertaining, looked as if they were making things up as they went along. Food was good for the first 3 days, then we noticed all the food had the same flavor...everything tasted the same. wasn't bad, just got reduntant. they only air condition the dining room for dinner. they serve breakfast in the dining room with no a/c - doors and windows open, it was very hot - esp after having to walk so far from the rooms! the hotel is one of the last hotels on the negril strip, definately NOT walking distance to any thing near by. Luckly we had a rental car, the rates they charge for taxi was very high. Also, this hotel is not located on the 7mile stretch of beaches, and surprisingly the sand is quite different from that of the 7mile strip...not as nice of a beach at the hotel - the sand is different. Had a very good time on our trip. We went for a 5 day 4 night girls trip. All the staff was very friendly and the food was great. The enterainment staff was very good as well, the night time shows are very very good. Went to some clubs in town had lots of locals but they played good music and had great drinks. Make sure you go early they dont stay open […] very late. The steak house was only using 10 tables when we went. The food was good but was very slow. They only had 2 people working the tables.
