Hotel Ajanta - New Delhi

Stayed one night for transit to the other destination. I was not sure how to arrange my pick up at the airport, although my rate included free airport pick up. I asked Hotels.com about how to make pick up arrangement and was told telephone number and e-mail address. I sent an e-mail without any response. I made a telephone call from the airport while […] waiting for the flight to Delhi and got connected finally. I could make my pick up arrangement at the Delhi airport successfully. The room was clean and very spacious. The writing table was very useful with handy power connection. Breakfast was good containing toast, scramble egg, fruits, fruits juice and tea/coffee. Comfortable stay at the hotel; nice room and friendly staff. They provided complimentary Wi-fi but that did not work. Restaurant was a little pricy. Location is great, very close to the New Delhi Railway station & Metro stations. But the neighborhood is crowded; lots of hotels around.

We arrived at the hotel and were greeted warmly and taken to our room, which was very nice with a large balcony. Good value for Delhi. The rooms vary: some are really excellent, some less so. Staff are friendly and attentive and most have worked there a long time (a good thing!) . Very convenient for (New Delhi) railway station and also Old Delhi. You will feel you are in the middle of a vibrant city (Arakashan Rd has the best nightime neon display n the whole […] of Delhi). Hotel Ajanta was a pleasant place to stay. During our vist the hotel was under going renovations which was somewhat disruptive. We asked to move rooms and they were very good about it. The rooms were smaller that the pitures led us to believe but it was clean and comfortable. The staff was very professional and helpful.

My friend and I stayed here for 5 nights I believe and the location of this hotel isn't good at all, I didn't feel very safe going outside the hotel alone, then again I don't think there is a good spot in Delhi besides the expensive Taj Mahal Hotel thats located outside the city center. It was a nice hotel, it has an old elevator that is quite small […] but has a nice old charm to it. The hotel has a good rooftop restaurant that we ate at a few nights. The people who work here try to sell you tours etc that you don't want and the internet isn't free but cheap. The electricity went out in our room twice though once was the whole hotel. Also if you are staying with just friends the bathrooms are kinda see though that have a film on them so you only see a shadow of the person in the bathroom, I didn;t like it too since I was just with a friend of mine. I stayed at the Ajanta and were well looked after by the staff and the general manager himself. Since a few rooms were vacant, got a room of my choice. Slept well and had a hearty buffet breakfast in their restaurant and all good, will be back. Thank you all.

Nice hotel, they are refurbishing the rooms on the upper floors for the moment, have an excellent roof top patio, indoor and outdoor. Good service level, food is good, nice place to stay and discover Delhi from. The New Delhi Central Station is just a few minutes walking.

We were escorted across the street to a place called "Home Sewwt Hotel". It was old and not nearly as clean as it could have been. It was extremely noisy, and far below the standars of website pictures and descriptions.

The hotel is good to stay in and the food is also exceptionally good. But it is situated in the most dusty and polluted part of Delhi. The free trip from the airport was not free. I was charged a rs.140 parking fee?!! about half the price a taxi would have charged. When I asked that instead of taking me all the way back to the airport would he have the driver take me 5 km. He tried to charge me rs. 400. The meals were way overpriced. Stayed at Hotel Ajanta twice on this trip. The first leg was no problem. Good service and no issues. The second leg was a little different as it was during their Diwali period, so hotel was fully booked, so had to be transferred to the hotel at the back which is not as nice, however because wehad booked superior rooms, they actually offered us a refund […] which I was surprised. They did end up taking pretty good care of us. The only issue I would say is the time it does take to check it. It took over 45 mins the second time round as they were looking for a suitable room for us. So, overall satisfied. I had booked a king size double room online. My husband arrived a day before me. As it was around 2 am he did not comment on the room he had been allocated - a tiny windowless room with two single beds, on a floor on which work was being carried out so it was dusty and very noisy . What is frustrating is the fact you need to complain as soon as you arrive and have to check your paper work to see whether you are getting what you have paid for. I pointed out that had the complaint not been made they would have simply left us in this horrible room but accepted the payment for a much larger one. The manager did compensate me by giving complimentary breakfast. I would also urge fellow travellers to shop around before accepting a tour put on by the hotel. This way you will have a more realistic idea of costs. On the plus side the places we had been booked onto were generally decent and well maintained and the driver was good. Service was friendly and rooms were clean. Ask to see rooms as some roadside rooms were a little noisy, we stayed in 3 different rooms and they got better each time. Location was convenient for New Delhi railway station, Pahar Ganj and Connaught Place (all within walking distance).

The hotel and interior furniture is a bit dated, but it was decent enough for the price. We had also paid extra for an air-port transfer, and we were abit annoyed […] at check out when we requested several times for the ride to the airport and they kept trying to get us to pay extra (which we had already paid for in our booking). Stayıng there was a good peace of mınd. They pıcked us up at the aırport (and our plane was late) and brought us straıght to the hotel. When ı orıgıanlly confırmed my bookıng and pıck up they emaıled me back twıce. The second tıme however they saıd that at the aırport we would have to pay of the parkıng. She was a huge help for us and we booked a car wıth drıver to take us around the Golden Trıangle and all the hotels were ıncluded ın the prıce that we paıd. The fırst(ın Jaıpur) and the thırd hotel(ın Agra) were amazıng and all the tour guıdes were ıncluded as well. She even arranged for the hotel drıvers to take us around Delhı for the day. The hotel staff arrange us in roof floor and the roof floor have the decoration work at the menmont, I've reguested the hotel to change the other floor, but they say no more room availible.
