This hotel is OUTSTANDING. When we checked in we were upgraded immediately to a suite with a fireplace, jacuzzi tub, walk in closet and private veranda. We had missed that day's free wine tasting, and Justin who checked us in made sure we came back with our wine glasses and he gave us a private tasting. "Historic charm close to downtown Sonoma"
The three things I love to have included in the price are parking, wi-fi and a good breakfast. MacArthur Place has these and so much more. The service is exceptional at the front desk, in the spa, in the restaurant and on the grounds. It's a charming plantation style hotel with multiple white manors separated and surrounded by gorgeous lush gardens. "Best hotel experience"
Our stay was perfect, in every way possible. We loved the room so much that we stayed an extra night. Hotel personnel was so helpful, they even called us more than a week before our arrival to offer to make a dinner reservation for us for Thanksgiving, since reservations were filling up very quickly. "Great place!"
The facility is great. They have a complimentary happy hour every day from 5-6PM. They even have a resident cat, AJ, who is a sweet little guy. The location is central to whatever you could want. Hotel is located close to downtown area. Neighborhood is ok, but property is buffered from street noise. We were upgraded, so we did not see the "standard queen" which we booked. "Should I really tell everyone......?"
....What a tremendous gem this is. A super, quaint and homely delight - close to Sonoma so you can walk in and try all the fabulous little restaurants - Harvest Moon our favourite or The Chees Factory for some lunchtime ribs - a must! Hard to tell you how great this place is as I don't want to spoil it..... The quiet pool area and 5-6pm complimentary […] wine and cheese was delightful. Our only issue is the noise level from the upper level room in our 'house' (they come in blocks of four rooms) was very loud and wooden floors made it difficult not to be disturbed on the ground floor. Free parking and close to the town, nice shops and the drive to Napa (Go to Flora Springs and StFrancis vineyards - fantastic) is a doddle. I will definately be back soon..... "Wonderful Sonoma Hotel"
We loved MacArthur Place. They simply couldn't do enough for us, always offering to do more. We got a free upgrade to a suite, the breakfast which they modestly called "continental" was far more than that, the wine and cheese in the afternoon was free and gracious, the hotel was immaculate and the grounds were beautiful. When I rented a bike, they almost […] insisted I take a couple bottles of water with me. I have a very few quibbles: the TV was very small for its distance from the viewing area, and why no premium channels? HBO would have been welcome. Still, we borrowed a (free) DVD and watched that. The concierge was awesome; he gave excellent advice about wineries to visit and restaurants to enjoy (and avoid). We would stay there again!! It's kind of expensive but you do get what you pay for. We love Sonoma, and this was the 1st time visiting MacArthur Place. Wonderful staff, beautiful grounds, and very nice room. The room was much larger and better than the photos (which usually it is the opposite). The pool was great, and we did a couples massage at the Spa which was also great. Our suite had a problem with the air conditioning, but the engineer was prompt to address our problem. Management offered to move us, supplied fans during the repair process. They fixed the problem and handled the whole process in a very professional manner, crediting our bill to compensate us for inconvenience. "Good but not great."
The gardens were beautiful and immaculately kept, the location central in Sonoma and the pool beautiful. The staff was excellent. We ended up in one of the cottages- it was a spacious room and did have more character than a run-of-the-mill hotel chain, yet nowhere near what I expected at that price point. Moreover, there was audible traffic in the morning […] from the street (not particularly loud but still not the sort of thing one would expect at the dear prices paid). "Very nice stay"
This was our first time at the McArthur Inn and it was a very nice surprise. The rooms are individual little "casitas" so it doesn't feel a all like a hotel. When you wake up in the moring and open the windows you are in the middle of a beautiful green, plush garden. The ceilings are high and decorated very "refeshing" with white lines. I didn't eat […] at "Saddles" the restaurant, but as I walked by in the evening, it was full and I could hear many conversations inside. It sounded like everying was enjoying themselves. I did take a look at the room service menu and it had a variety of meals and was affordable. I whish we would have stayed an additional day to enjoy the pool and restaurant. "Wouldn't stay anywhere else."
This was our first trip to wine country and I was expecting to encounter some "snootiness". Little did we know that Sonoma is such a laid back, easy-going town where the people are more concerned with who you are than what you are. The moment we arrived at MacArthur Place we knew that we chose the best place to stay in Sonoma. Lovely grounds (6 acres), […] great restaurants, close to the square and a friendly and incredibly helpful staff make MacArthur Place THE place to stay in Sonoma. "Will definitely return!"
This is one of the prettiest settings in Sonoma - you could check in and never leave. Wine tasting in the PM is wonderful, heated pool and hot tub were well kept, cute touches like ping pong table and free movie rentals. "Very convenient to Sonoma"
Great and restful time at MacArthur Place. Facility was very clean and quiet. Wine and cheese reception was excellent! Check-in staff was super friendly. Food at breakfast was fantastic.
