Had 3 nights in a very comfortable 2nd floor corner room overlooking the grassy , flower filled courtyard .I enjoyed watching people play with their pets below. Good price and easy few short block walk to main street in Carmel. Convenient to restaurants .Breakfast comes in a cooler left at your front door .Neat idea .Newspaper included. I am not a big […] fan of rice crispies and wish there was a choice of a low fat , fibre breakfast. fresh fruit was great but skip the yogurt . No tea bags to be found but complimentary water in fridge appreciated. Nice welcome in reception with complimentary cookies and beverages like tea , coffee and water . I would stay here argain , I was travelling alone and felt very safe . No bath tub in my bathroom but it was a large room with a great bed and huge TV. Clean, nice size room. The comfy bed was the best part of the trip. Thin walls so if you are a light sleeper bring earplugs.

The night clerk was erogant and unhelpful. The Manager/Owner was extremely helpful and made the stay much better.

Quiet (hotel was not full and it was off-season). Comfortable. Well-located off the main drag but easily accessible. The room was small but airy and light. We spent one night there with our dog and were extremely happy with the experience. Great customer service, great location, and discounts to restaurants nearby. The place could use a bit of updating but it is kept in very good condition, is clean, and the staff is extremely helpful and cheery. We're definitely going to stay there again.

I loved driving into the area; it was like back in time with the cottage atmosphere all around. After a nice rain it was cool, quiet and very cozy. I love the grounds of the hotel, the twinkle lights.. a cozy fire in the lobby. Fresh cookies with warm drink awaited us. The continental breakfast was just right, fresh pastries and juices and cereals, with yogurt delivered to our door as we slept in the quiet solitude. It is within walking distance to the Carmel Village, with lots of shops to explore and wonderful places to eat. We received a discount by our stay here. Nice surprise. Nice hotel, the only issue we had was that our room faced the street, so a bit of street noise but we leave the windows open as we love cool fresh air. We'll stay again.

We stayed in Room 15, which is on 4th Street, and it's noisy in the daytime because there is more traffic on the street than you expect. The room is right on the sidewalk. It's also a little on the small side and would not suit a family.

There's a lot of positives of this hotel but needs to be updated. The outside is beautiful as is the office but the room did not match the surroundings. Since we spent more time in the room than in the office or gardens, it would have been nice if the room had reflected the rest of the motel. New linens, new beds and a bathroom remodel would have made […] the stay much nicer. The Kuerig coffee maker was wonderful! It was great to have the breakfast delivered but the same items laid out in the office area with fresh pastries would have been a nice option since we felt that we wasted food we didn't eat (or want). What seems to be a typical older Carmel hotel. Primitive bathroom, thin walls, & well worn bed. Good location and friendly front desk. Breakfast provided at your front door in the morning. A bit pricey for condition of hotel but not out of the Carmel price norm.

Went there for a nice quiet get away and discovered that a poodle parade was going on in Carmel so we had barking dogs at night and barking dogs in the morning. Overall excellent hotel. However, during hot weather it may be a problem because of no air conditioning availability. Excellent location: easy walking distance to wonderful little stores, restaurants and the ocean. Great continental breakfast delivered to your room and a daily newspaper.

We thought the location was perfect to walk to downtown Carmel. The grounds were beautiful. The rooms were spacious with seating. We loved the delivered continental breakfast and paper every morning. So refreshing to not have the community breakfast room. The bathroom fixtures could use updating, they were functional but very worn.

the hotel stay was amazing! Someone dropped the ball as far as getting my girlfriend a birthday card for her birthday along with the champagne. that was made up for the next night with a nice bottle of wine!

Very nice place to stay, helpful staff. Tub was not a 2-person tub like they promised but still comfortable. Make sure you check the jets for cleanliness. Ours probably hadn't been used in a while. Breakfast was a nice surprise. Watch out for the dog poop on the grass since this is a pet friendly hotel. We may stay again.

Spotless, bright cheery room. Nicely done grounds. Didn't have a chance to use the relaxing-looking pool. Easy walk to anything you wish in town. And a classy individually-delivered included breakfast left for the guests outside their door in a cooler. What more do you need?

The room was clean and comfortable. The television was extremely small and there was not much counter space in the bathroom. I think for what you get it was very overpriced. Would come back for half the price. Very nice and friendly front desk people.

Overall this is a great little place to stay. We stayed in the "spa tub and fireplace queen suite". It's very conveniently located, and the room was neat and clean. The desk clerk was very helpful. About 9pm we called to report that our windows were open and it was clear that someone was smoking in the courtyard. They smoking guest was escorted away […] from the courtyard within minutes. They also leave a really nice little breakfast "basket" (cooler) at your door in the morning. The bed was REALLY comfy. We were not impressed with the "spa tub" and wouldn't go for that in the future. It was just a regular (smallish) size tub and it the plug didn't seem to keep in the water, so we didn't actually get to use it. However, there was a nice gas fireplace and the room was quite large, so overall we were quite happy. It was very quiet all night long until the morning when traffic starts (but I suspect this is the case for all the hotels in downtown Carmel). Fantastic service- my son got a stomach bug within an hour of being there and was sick for 24hrs. i needed to extend my stay and they were able to provide an extra day and DID NOT try to charge me extra- they gave me the same low rate I got from hotels.com for the first night's stay. very cool of them. the front desk service was terrific in general […] as well.
