Windsor Palace Hotel - Rio de Janeiro

A pleasant hotel located a short walk to the Copacabana beach. The small roof top pool and bar were perfect for late evening relaxing and enjoying the surrounding views. The bed was ok, I slept well as this was my layover hotel after a week of traveling.

Excellent Hotel with a very helpful staff. Good restaurants are nearby and neighboring Ipanema and Leblon offer more options for wining and dining. I loved the rooftop deck and pool. Selmo makes the best Caipirinhas in all of Rio!

Our family stayed at the Rio Windsor Palace Hotel in Copacabana for 6 nights from March 6th 2013. We arrived very early at the hotel but we were greeted in a very friendly fashion and allowed in the dining room for breakfast. Our rooms were ready two hours before normal. All reception staff spoke excellent English and several times put themselves out […] to help as did the door staff. Rooms were kept spotless by a daily cleaner and although not big, comfortable and adequate for our stay. Bathroom had no bath but a huge shower area and daily towels, soap shampoo etc. were provided. The roof pool is small but adequate for a cooling dip – especially for young children, and the roof area ideal for tanning or drinking from the bar. We did not make use of the gym. From the roof the city view and of Copacabana beach is stunning. Although only a medium priced hotel with 18 floors the dining room was very well appointed with an excellent choice of food for breakfast included in the price. Temperatures were up to 40°C but everywhere had air conditioning. A drawback was that all the room windows are within earshot of humming air conditioning units which didn’t lead to a very conducive nights’ sleep. Another was that two of the floors were being refurbished so that one of the only two lifts was often in use by workmen. With its position only two minutes from Copacabana beach one way and a main shopping district another way made our stay worthwhile and enjoyable. We would stay there again. Pročitajte više

Generally a good tourist standard hotel, good service and common areas, such as reception, breakfast room and pool area on the roof. The only drawback was that the air conditioning in the bedroom was not working well and was very noisey.

The wifi in my room only worked at the entrance of the room, a good 7 paces from the bed and work desk. I called reception up and they had me look at a different room on a different floor. The room smelled of smoke and I couldn't move there. So I ended up sitting on the floor by the door, working. The hotel is very comfortable. The staff went above the services needed and were helpful. Continental breakfast as exceptional. The room as updated and very comfortable. Good restaurantes close by, some pricy, but food excellent. Would definately recommend this hotel.

I expected the room to be bad after trawling through hundreds of hotels in Rio and finding they are well below most first world countries standards. The only major issue I had was that the bathroom stunk. This was no surprise considering there was water constantly leaking from the pipes running in the roof above the bathroom. The 'ceiling' in this case […] is actually just wooden slats.The dripping was much heavier when you heard people flush which really made me feel sick. Usually I would be out of there but as I said, I think most hotels are quite old and dirty unless you are willing to spend an exhorbitant rate for a hotel which is still just average. I also didn't bother mentioning this to anyone as we were only there 2 nights and did not want maintenance in and out of our room the whole time. The hotel looks a little old but the room is ok and clean. The rooftop bar and swimmingpool are awesome with very nice views of the Copacabana. The gym is much but very high quality equipment. Great location - a couple of blocks from the beach. Great bar, pool, and views from 18th floor veranda. Small, but adequate 2nd floor room. Very helpful staff. Good free breakfast. For the price, hard to beat.

Overall impression, the hotel is in need of maintenance and upgrades. The room was tiny with three single beds (triple occupancy), with no space to put our luggage. Beds and linens were old and thin, not the fluffy comforters that I prefer. Restroom was a nice size, just in need of upgrades. The bellman were great. Other staff were ok, but not as customer […] service oriented like other hotels. When we asked for great restaurants in the area, they said everything was good. Housekeeping was not so good, the room never felt too clean. Breakfast buffet spread wasn't large, but it was good enough. Location was convenient, but Copacabana seemed a bit run down. We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights during our vacation in Rio de Janerio. The hotel is one block from the beaches and there are many restaurants in this area. When we checked in, they gave us a room on the 17th floor and we had a beautiful view of the ocean from our room. I am not sure we would have enjoyed our stay as much if they had given us a […] room in the lower floor because the view of the ocean would have been totally blocked by other buildings in front of the hotel. We found it because it's near to the beach (1 block away), to the metro station (4 blocks away), to the commerce (1 block) and also near to very good restaurants (Siqueira grill, Manoel & Juaquim, Fenza Pizzeria, etc). It is not luxury but correct and with good service, good breakfast and good price. I recommend it.

Overall everything was very good at the hotel. Practical, functional, without any exaggeration, and essential features. Staff was very good, experienced and could communicate in English, even some of the members were quite good at it. The location is excellent, near the beach, good restaurant. Breakfast with good variety and reasonable quality. However […] the hotel is a bit costly at the given tariff. Alternatively facilities in rooms could be improved. I enjoyed my stay in Rio de Janeiro. However, I had some minor complaints about the hotel. The hotel had a strict policy against bringing guests to the room (i.e. friend was flighing back to U.S. and he left his bags in my room for a little while until flight departed and they gave some fuss), did not provide iron (had to pay to have clothing pressed), […] and updates needed in lower level rooms (I stayed on 9th floor). It appeared that there were updates made to the hotel, but only to top levels (the ones with an ocean view). Some positive things about the hotel were the service, breakfast, and location. The Windsor Palace was a great stay. Clean, confortable and spacious room (we booked the Executive Superior). Partial ocean view which was good, however other buildings below our floor looked shabby and obscured the view somewhat. The rooftop pool and its view is amazing - clear views of Copacabana beach and Christ the Redeemer statue. Staff speak English […] and even change your currency. Buffet breakfast is delicious. Hotel provided towels and umbrella to the beach which is a 2 minute walk away. The hotel offers meal discount vouchers to Sequira and Faveza restuarants on the same street. It was a nice to have a balcony with a view to Copacabana. However, you must get a room from the 13th floor or higher. The room was a little bit small for 3 people and the extra bed was of low quality. the swimming pool was small but the view was nice. The Internet was fast and free of charge.

We loved the Windsor Palace hotel in Rio. The staff were so helpful, and the hotel itself was really comfortable and close to Copacabana Beach and shopping/dining. Their included breakfast buffet was really good too. We enjoyed the view from the rooftop bar & pool. Considering how expensive things are in Brazil these days, we got a really good deal […] on this hotel. One caution: make cab drivers aware that you are staying at the Windsor PALACE, because the Windsor chain has a bunch of hotel in Rio. Handy to the centre of Copacabana Beach (a small block back from the Beach). Wide variety of breakfast items on offer. Staff friendly and helpful with local knowledge and tours. A/c unit was a little noisy.

This hotel fit it's price compared with other hotels I looked at / stayed in in Rio. It was perfectly fine - clean, simple, safe, with decent service. Nothing fancy. Then again, I was paying half the price of the Windsor Atlantica, where I had stayed previously as part of the business aspect of my stay. Compared to the Atlantica the Palace is a hole […] in the wall, but for half the price it's still only a block away from the beach and has the basic necessities for a good stay.
