Toby's Resort - Montego Bay

Loved this property. Clean and neat appearance throughout the property. When we arrived we were given an upgraded room. Very nice room with a fridge and king size bed. Room service was great and food good. Loved the pool and bar. Excellent helpful staff and I will book again when I go back.

Relaxing and the service was excellent. Low key professional local owned and run and the whole scene was peaceful except for music at pool bar, too loud and only local radio which was not able to play the bartenders personal music or mine. They need a new sound system.

Toby's Resort was a good enough hotel, though we did not have hot water for our entire stay. We called the front desk about it and then it worked for a few hours. Toby's did not have a beach of it's own so we had to pay to get in to a good beach a 10 min walk away. Used Toby's as a starting and finishing point while in JA for a week. Very close to airport maybe 5 minutes. Andrew and the rest of the staff was fantastic and accommodated all our needs and made us feel like family. Great little find will definitely be back!

I consider this a low budget hotel but the location is great--within walking distance to the hip strip and lots of shopping. The staff at this hotel is fantastic. One of the housekeepers (Lesa) saw my white capris got dirty on the first day and she offered to wash them out for me. What a gem. I would go back to Toby's again.

This hotel is more pleasant than it looks on photoes. Great chairs near the pool. Nice staff. Wife is free only in lobby, not in rooms. location is suitable for travelling, it doesn't have own beach, but 2 private beaches are very close to this hotel

At first didn't like the area since I often go to Negril, but tried Montego Bay to interact with locals. The 1st day left me disappointed but from the 2nd it got better. After a week left very happy. Had a room with pool view. The hotel is right next to a road and next to a tennis court club and another resort at one end of Hip Strip, also very near […] the airport. Most people come for a night but the resort has a full restaurant and lounge area, so one could stay some time and not be disappointed. I used their massage service and was pleased with the masseuse - well trained and professional. So pleased that I got a two hour massage everyday and felt it was a great healing experience. I don't eat animal products and worked with the kitchen staff to arrange suitable meals, but my special requests were disruptive to their normal flow of cooking and not filled well. Then found a chef in the downtown area who cooked AND DELIVERED vegan meals to me for about eight dollars per meal, and they were big meals. This was a nice price compared to prices in the resorts. The chef worked in a small kitchen/cafe called Millenium Victory Vegetarian Restaurant at 65 Barnett St and phone 876 887-5545 (as for Kush, the chef). There's also a health food store and vegan cafe a few miles away called Adwa that makes fresh juices and vegan dishes, but it's more expensive. I drank a fresh veggie juice there everyday (raw callaloo and carrots mostly) and enjoyed their vegan cafe of treats like Tie Leaf. Pročitajte više

I found my stay at Toby's somewhat disturbing, especially for my Jamaican Canadian girlfriend. On numerous occasions I was asked "Sir, is she registered to stay here?" So I guess if you're a black white couple....stay away from Toby's if romantic getaway is what you're looking for!

The hotel was great but the taxi drivers are a rip off. To take a taxi at the hotel to go about 5 blocks they want to charge you around 15 U.S. dollars which is about 1500 dollars Jamaican. Do not pay them this much, its ridiculous. They do this alot to tourist, they just forgot that I was born and raised there and grew up in the hood. The taxi, route […] taxi drivers, the one with the red license plates are only about 300 Jamaican dollar to take to the airport, but they want to charge you 10 dollars U.S.. Something need to be done about this because they are overcharging the tourists like crazy down there. I cursed out 3 taxi drivers when they tried to overcharge me. My hotel experience was great! This is my fifth visit to Jamaica and I have always stayed at Toby's. The staff are always friendly and try to make their guests feel welcome. Overall, the place is always clean and the restaurant on the grounds has good food. I would continue to come back!

The resort was okay, however, the area surrounding the resort is dirty and downright scary. Fortunately, there is a JUTA taxi driver who is usually at the resort, so should you need to go anywhere, they are a trustworthy taxi service.

I stayed at this hotel in August 2012. As a solo female traveler, I stayed here the day before my flight home. The hotel grounds are well taken care of. The hotel room was clean; I had a big king bed with working modern newer style a/c unit with remote and flat screen tv. The bathroom was mold free; tub, sink and toilet clean. Convenient stores for snacks and little shops for soveniers are around the corner. I felt safe at the hotel. This hotel is more lively and cheaper than most of the hotels along the strip. Front desk staff were friendly. There is a nice pool on the grounds or if you want to swim with the locals, there is a free beach a short walk behind the hotel. Toby is great for short stay. It's hard to imagine that anyone would consider Toby Resort a real resort. The high point of my stay was the service provided by Tracey at the front desk. She is the BOMB!

Stayed at Toby's for a business/vacation trip. Restaurant was excellent and all staff was great. Hotel was very centrally located and right near the hip strip. Hi, we only needed to stay one night in Montego Bay so didn't need high end services. Toby's staff were polite, friendly and welcoming. Our room was quiet and clean. You can tell it is of an older era but we had everything we needed, clean bed and comfortable. We stayed here because we were bumped off a flight. This is definately a no frills hotel and close to the airport. It was a $15 cab ride to and from the hotel (I was told this is the flat rate). In order to keep the door closed, you must lock it. Made us feel a little unsafe but the front desk staff assured us we would be. There was also no fitted sheet […] on the bed, just 2 top sheets. I understand some hotels do this to cut costs but it is a little icky when you can see the actual mattress. This is actually my second time staying here. The front desk staff are friendly and accomodating. The hotel is located within walking distance of the beach and many shops. It's also about a 5 minute drive to the airport. Very peaceful and serene.
