Aquamarina Beach Resort - Cancun

We went with another couple... had a great time... if you go without kids, you might want to try an adult only hotel. This is very family friendly. Food was very marginal. Service was great! Overall good value.

This was probably one of the most unpleasant hotels I have ever been in. the beds were rock hard, had only one sheet on them and no blanket, the 'shower' was missing the shower head so it was basically a high pressure pipe coming out if the wall. The Aquamarina Beach Hotel was a wonderful resort to stay at. It wasn't luxurious but it was very nice. The food was very good and always warm. The rooms were very nice. I was very pleasantly surprised because I stayed at another all-inclusive hotel in the Bahamas and the food was awful so I thought maybe that was the norm but the Aquamarina far surpassed my expectations. Nothing fancy but very nice. The staff was always very nice and friendly. They always had a smile on their faces. Even though there was a language barrier, they always found somebody who could speak English to help me. There is not much at the neighborhood and only few foreigners stay in this hotel. It has only one restaurant in the hotel and mainly for the all-inclusive customers and it costs a lot more for paid diners and doesn't have many food choices. I would not recommend this hotel, the bell man didn't even help with our bags to the reception desk. We were constantly asked to take a tour for a time share. The reception clerk was not friendly. It is what you get for the price, if you want to be near downtown it is a good location. We had a paid 2 night reservation but moved out after the first night, […] our room was attached to another room - when they turned on their lights, it lighted our room--we could hear each other, no privacy. I arrived on sunday, mind you the day of my birthday. When I got there the room was not ready but I antisipated it was going to happen because of the difference in time. Since we were hungry we asked about the reataurant, we were directed to it. However, the first thing they asked us was our room number, we didn't have one so we were advised we had […] to pay cash for lunch, wait a second, isn't it all inclusive?. The worst part about it, the food was raw n the meat was so raw my 3yr old said it was gum. Now, the service was the worst by far. I needed to make an 800 number phone call for my transfer back to the airport and I was sent to the pay phone. The phones were locked in the rooms. On another occasion, I locked myself out of the room and I had to wait for the front desk person to cut some papers which was for 20 minutes before she made my key. The beach its not tidy up for a hotel that it is sitting in front of the reef. The other surrounding resorts were cleaning every morning what was been wash off by the reef. Plus the pool was freezing cold. Entertainment? Didnt see any during the entire week I was there. I would have to say, the only thing that was good was house keeping. There were seven of us--4 adults & 3 children--who needed two rooms for one day/night in Cancun. This hotel is located between the major beach hotels and "town," and it has limited beach access in an area where jetskis and other watercraft are plentiful. We arrived at 1pm and had to depart at 11am the next day. We used the pool which was decent. We […] ate at the pool and the food was poor. The rooms were basic--we had "junior suites," which consisted of two beds, a couch, and a TV; there was nothing "suite-like" about the rooms, and the beds were rock hard. The staff were very helpful, especially when the starter on our rental van went out and we needed to travel to the airport within an hour. The concierge took over and made sure we made our flight. We appreciated his help. The travel person was also very helpful in directing us to a local arts festival and a great restaurant (La Parrilla) the evening before. The hotel itself was relatively child friendly, but the area was clearly dominated by adult activities--the Playboy Casino is acorss the street and we were 100 yards from a beach area where the tops of bikinis were optional. The hotel needs updating and renovation, some of which appears to be in progress. We were glad to be spending only one night there, but it served our prupose for that day and evening. The Front desk didn't have our reservation when we arrive. Wifi is only available at the lobby, not in the rooms. The shower and bathroom were old and in preety bad condition. We were lucky that we had not booked all inclusive but we considered upgrading, we tried the restaurant on our 1st night and was deeply dissapointed with the food, there was not much variety at all and there was only 2 sweets to choose from both of them were caramel the only difference was the colour. We are not really fussy eaters so on a few occassions […] we tried the snack bar simple things like burgers a fries, i watched them put the frozed frech fries in the fryer they did this before the oil had got any heat in it, this resulted in fries not tasting of anything other than fat and grease. We did love the location of the hotel and it was clean but does need some updating, the entertainers do a lovely job but there is no decent evening entertainment. I left some sandals by the sunlounger one day the people tidy up the sunbeds straight away if after 5pm yet they did not get handed in, a few days later i forgot my new wrap that was hanging across the bars and was not surprised that i nener got that back either.We love Mexico and will go back but sadly not to this hotel. Booked easily on-line, pictures representative. Hotel fine, very adequate, easy walk out to beach although the swimming area was very limited by piers/boating docks on both sides. The check in staff stated I had been "upgraded" and was thus expecting more but room pictures same as on line; I think she was just trying to flatter.

The hotels location was perfect. The ferry ($15) to Islas Mujeres is a block away. There's a supermarket in front of hotel, as well as the bus stop ($8 pesos) to city center. Breakfast menu was very good with its variety of national and american food, although the alcohol drinks are expensive. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. Not bad for the price.

L'hotel est situé juste à côté d'un Casino, où la musique joue très fort à l'extérieur. Mais une fois la porte de chambre fermée, le bruit est assez bien controlé... Les lits, la literie sont très confortables. Beau balcon. La chambre est vraiment bien. Très bien pour le prix. Bien situé.

Total apoio da portaria para pontos turísticos, mas possui empresa turística no hotel que cobra mais caro, sendo que poderia orientar para ir ao lado e comprar direto na embarcação de Playa Linda para Isla Mujeres, que é mais barato. Gostamos muito da estadia neste hotel.

Hôtel sympatique, très bon rapport qualité/prix. Situé à proximité de Cancun ce qui permet de se rendre facilement en ville pour partir en excursion par exemple. Le seul problème c'est la taille de la plage plutôt petite - ceux qui veulent vraiment se baigner dans l'océan doivent se rendre au sud de la zona hotelera ou à Isla mujeres (pratiquement en […] face). Il y avait aussi une personne de l'hôtel qui essayait constamment de nous vendre des excursions - on a fini par éviter le lobby pendant ses horaires de travail. Pour aller voir les pyramides (Chichen Itza, etc.) vaut mieux soit aller à Cancun et prendre le bus de la gare routière, soit utiliser l'agence qui se trouve juste devant l'hôtel dans la rue.
