Mosquito Blue - Playa del Carmen

Plus: breakfast served on the beach, in the twin hotel Mosquito Beach. Great location directly on Quinta avenida. Nice pools and garden. Cons: Internet (complimentary) was never working. Room looked clean but smelled of mold. Asked for two queen beds but got a king.

We had an amazing time the hotel is beautiful. The only negative thing I have to say, is that the wifi didnt work for 3 days and when it worked in the room it was bad and slow. The overall experience was incredible.

Don't miss the breakfast option...the sister hotel is right on the beach and you get full privileges of it. People were great--service was top-notch, low-key and classy.

Hotel was charming and very upscale. A bit threadbare in spots but meticulously clean and the staff was beyond helpful and pleasant. Location was perfect (in town). Would definitely go back.

The clubs closer to the beach were quite noisy through the night...I could handle that!! What makes me mad is that the bottle of water in the room, which did not have a price tag, cost me $17 upon departure. I don't mind paying a bit more for water in the room, but that was outrageous!!! Worse hotel ever and hyper expensive! I'm talking about room 201. The shower doesn't work properly (the water pressure and temperature increase or decreased every 15 seconds), difficult to flush the toilet, I complained because the A/C thermostat didn't work and the hotel staff toll me that no room had actual thermostat and the next day I saw a fancy […] and shiny functional Honeywell thermostat in another room, thanks to this we were unable to sleep (either freezing or sweating), they only had one wall plug to connect stuff and it was in the bathroom (no more, i had to disconnect the TV to charge my phone) and the worse part was the amount of noise that it was coming in because they didn't put a proper window. My blackberry was stolen the first morning from my bedside talble while I was sleeping. If you are in room 208, be careful, the camera outside the room does not capture the door to 208 and I assume staff know this so they target the room. Otherwise it was a decent place to stay.

By far this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed. The air condition of the hotel was not working. They came to my room 2 times just to turn it on and off. I request a change of room and the manager was incredibly rude, and not at all willing to do anything. It was a joke.

The hotel was about four-five block walk from the bus station. I t has a cool chic euro vibe to it. Our room was pleasantly decorated but no dresser. They offer everything that one can need. Very good rooms, nice bathroom, two swimming pools, delicious various breakfast in the sister hotel on the beach. The staff is very helpfull, they even gave me the adaptor for european plugs to use during the stay.

We found the room to be really clean and in very good location close to the 5th Avenue resturants and bars. One of the nights the music was a bit loud to late at night. Best thing was they are sister's with the Mosquito Hotel on the beach where you can hire a lounge on the beach and an awesome breakfast as well.

This is a beautiful little hotel, with very pleasant and efficient staff. We particularly enjoyed the included breakfast on the beach at an affiliated hotel nearby, Mosquito Beach. The only reason I cannot recommend it is the noise at night from surrounding clubs. Great location- Close to shops, restaurants/ bars and the beach! The grounds are beautiful and private and the staff was very helpful! We were surprised by being upgraded to Misquito beach hotel, which is down the block. We were steps away from the pool and beach! It was beauitiful and the beach club was great. We loved it and would go back in a heart beat!

Great hotel in general. However, as 12 ave is very busy and there are 3-4 night clubs on the ave. if you want to party and usually stay up late, it's the best option. The music is very loud outside and last till 5am... Room 202 is the worst because it is right in the corner of 5 and 12 ave.

The hotel is situated in a very convenient location (very close to 5th Ave). The only compliant I have is that the hotel can get really noisy in the evening (night club next door). If you prefer to have a quite place to sleep or have young kids/babies, I don't think this is the place for you.

Great location just steps from 5th Avenue. The beach club was terrific and the staff was polite and helpful. We drove from Merida and had problems finding parking which is fairly normal for Playa del Carmen.

This hotel was small but beautiful and located perfectly between night clubs, shops and restaurants. The staff was great, other than forgetting to give us a wake up call. All was good til I asked for a one hour late checkout. Told the room was booked so sat in the lobby for an hour and no one checked in. Seems like they could have made an accommodation. Must be hotel policy but on the cusp of their slow season should have reconsidered their policy.

This was a nice little hotel - we loved the pool areas and of course it's just steps from Fifth Avenue. HOWEVER - do NOT stay here on a Friday or Saturday night - it is surrounded by clubs and the music (bass dance stuff) will keep you awake all night.
