Edgewater Beach and Golf Resort - Panama City Beach

From the beginning of checking in this stay became a problem. They did not want to let me check in because I am not 25, but I travel for work and stay in hotels every week and never have had an issue anywhere. The attitudes I received from the staff were less than deserved. Once they finally allowed me to check in, they informed me of a $140 non-refundable […] damage fee. I can understand why this is put in place if I were to damage something but it should be based on the condition at checkout. This fee was not noted when I booked the reservation and would have definitely changed my mind on choosing this location. After paying the fee and receiving the room key they showed me a map of the resort and where I would be staying. When I booked I made sure that I was going to be on the beach side of the resort, and they had me across the street in a golf side villa. When I addressed the issue and asked them to change the room to beach side they informed me that it would be an extra $200. At this point I was so frustrated that I almost agreed. For the cost of all of the extra fees, I could have had a beachfront condo in any of the surrounding resorts for less. We took the villa and tried to make the best of it, but when we arrived, it was very dated the walls were stained, the bathrooms were not clean, and there was no housekeeping the entire time we were there. Everyone should know that the villas at this property are not on the beach, they are across the street. They do have a tram to take you to the beach when needed though. When I arrived, the couch had sand on it and the cushions were all messed up. The biggest thing is the destination/mandatory cleaning fees which add up to over $100 in addition to your […] rate. The real only complaint was the red was rock hard. It was like sleeping on nothing but box springs. Other than that the location and the size of the room were more than we expected.

First off, I chose this place because the great price and the fact that it was right on the beach. 5 seconds after checking in I realized neither of these were all that accurate. I fully paid the cost of the hotel on hotels.com and when I arrived I had another $145 charge for a two night stay. Also, looking at the pictures this hotel is located right on the beach. This is partially correct, the room I got was a small villa (was very pleasant) on the other side of the main road in another section of the hotel property. The property contains a golf course and a bunch of the rooms are located all over the course. Just something to consider. My guest and I had a wonderful experience at this resort. The ocean view from our room was amazing. The staff was very nice and accommodating and I would certainly stay here again.

Outdated “condo” furniture, fairly clean. some lights burnt out. shower drain clogged. NOW! Beware, was told about cleaning fee (range price given) “depending on unit size”, and was charged the max for two day stay in one of smaller units. When me and my husband arrived we were very excitied. The villa was huge and looked a little out dated, but pretty nice. 1st night we went to start our grill and it was broken. Called the front desk and they said they would send someone out in the morning to fix it. Someone came by and took the grill and said it was against policy to have it. 2nd night […] we did not know the bathroom door was broken. When my husband shut the door it locked him inside and it took me a hour to get the door handle off (unscrewed it with tweezers!). Called the front desk and she said she would send someone out in the morning to fix it. Called three times (once a day) before someone came and fixed it. These things I could handle BUT on the 4th day I went to the bathroom and there was a cockroach! A COCKROACH!!! I do not to bugs at all and the worst of worst was in our bathroom! We trapped him with a cup and called the front desk again to complain. The lady reassured us it wasn't a cockroach, but instead a palmetto bug. She said they live in the palm trees and that it was most certainly not a cockroach. I felt a little relief until I looked up what a palmetto bug was... "largest species of common cockroach." This thing was the size of the palm of my hand. It was huge! The lady and the front desk was almost condensing to my husband when he called and complained. I will never go back. Where do I begin? Wayyyyy overpriced for the condition of the room. You would think for what you pay you would get more. Not so much. I don't recommend this place to anyone. Next time I think I'll stay at Magestic. I'm sure there's not a VCR in their rooms.

Location and room was great, BUT beware of the $160 resort fee that Is not included when booking your room online. We were notified of this fee at check-in. There were other guest checking in at the same time that were also being notified of this wonderful fee (sarcasm). First room, trim was busted off around door. Door wouldn't even lock. Hadn't been updated in 20 years. Pizza left in decorative pot. They " upgraded" us to MC Hammers room. Additional fees upon arrival were $140 which was $85 cleaning fee, the rest was a nonrefundable damage fee. No reason to ever stay here again.

My family was very upset to learn that even though we'd planned carefully for our trip, (hotel price, location) hotels.com doesn't make it clear that there is a non-refundable $50 check in fee (?). The beds were very uncomfortable. We all felt the springs. The rest of the room was great. The expected onsite pizza place was closed for the season but that's understandable. Each unit is indivudally owned so they vary greatly in what is included and the decor. Our guest bath toilet did not flush from the time we got there and I called for maintenence 3 separate times. Very frustrating.
