Lodge on the Desert - Tucson

The property was fantastic! Big rooms, great southwestern decor (room and facilities), nice pool and a super restaurant/bar onsite. Very reasonable room rates and pricing for food and drink very good too. I'm telling all my friends to stay at Lodge on the Desert and this will be the only place we stay on return visits to Tucson.

Although this hotel sits in a fairly rough neighborhood you would never know it. It is beautiful and quiet. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. The food outstanding. The casitas are very pleasant and comfortable and the location is quite nice. Some issues I had were 1) the wifi basically did not work in my (east-facing) room. 2) there was no way to warm up hot water for my tea except the coffee maker, which meant my tea smelled like stale coffee (no microwave!). 3) the small fridge was so noisy i had to unplug it […] at night. The room we were given was right on a main road. It was noisy 24 hours a day. We asked that our room be changed but were told this was not possible.The room we were assigned to was in fair condition, with antiquated plumbing faucets - the kind you can get scalded on if you're not careful; pealing paint, concrete floors.

This place was an oasis in Tucson. Tucked away in an unseeming area of town, it's clean, somewhat secluded, and was great for the price. The views would have been better a few decades ago, but urban sprawl has taken a bit away from that. The customer service was fantastic, as well as the attached restaurant. The surrounding neighborhood was a bit seedy, […] but once inside the hotel grounds it's completely unnoticeable. The room was extremely clean, but somewhat dimly lit (other rooms may not have had this issue). We had a serious problem with the room being 85 F late in the evening 10:00 PM. We could not open the windows and there is a period when no maintenance personnel are on the premises and the one who was supposed to show was late. I do not know why there is a time period without any maintenance personnel. had the been a serious plumbing problem such as […] a burst pipe, I guess it would just run until the next shift. Room was very nice but had problem with internet connection (Problem was resolved) Only down side was the high noise level from room AC. I had to get room temp very low and the turn off AC when I went to bed. I would wake up about 5 am in very warm room and turn AC back on. Had a great stay here. The rooms were large, the beds were comfortable, the grounds were very quiet and serene, and the parking was easy. The pool area was beautiful. The lodge is in a quiet area but just blocks away there are places to eat, and even a jogging/walking path around a golf course.

wonderful hotel!! We were visiting our daughter at the U of A and wanted a nice get away as well. The room was spacious and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. The location is fabulous. The hotel is attractive and well-maintained. Though I only had breakfast on-site, the food was very good. The pool is small but clean. The view from my small patio overlooked a Tucson neighborhood, and wasn't all that alluring. Overall, a pleasant experience.

Very pleasant surprise after pulling in the driveway. Ask for a 1st floor room or hotel service if you have heavy luggage as there is no elevator. Also request a room that is not facing the East. Even with room darkening curtains the light shines in! Lots of restaurants in the area a short drive around. A wonderful stay and would do it again.

They need to install blackout drapes in the rooms as the current ones let in too much light. Otherwise it is a nice place to stay.

We enjoyed the hotel, the pool and the restaurant for dinner. WiFi does not work in the rooms, but worked in the lobby. "Patios" are extremely small and no furniture, so sitting outside is by the pool, where it is very pleasant.

The room was clean, and well-furnished and supplied. We had asked for a quiet room on the upper floor, and we were given exactly what we requested. The lodge seems to consist of an older, charming facility which includes the restaurant, and newer, two-story buildings, which are built quite densely in the remainder of the lodge property. Took a chance on last minute deal from hotels.com. Price was great, and we were pleasantly surprised at what a lovely hotel it is. The room was huge - high ceilings and very spacious. The resort staff was very friendly and helpful. We had an allergy to down, and called the front desk to see what they could do. We really enjoyed the property and its unique layout. The room was spacious and clean and the furnishings, bath etc were of high quality. The restaurant provided pleasant surroundings. Food and service excellent. Should our travels find us in Tucson we would consider this property again.

Room had carpeting and was very dirty. Nice looking surroundings and thought I had a good deals but would have rather stayed at the Country Inn where I stayed previously. No continental breakfast included was a disappointment. The people themselves seemed very nice and the pool and spa was great.

I was very pleased with the Lodge at the Desert. Very comfortable rooms with nice high ceilings. The staff was friendly and attentive. The pool was great for just hanging out and relaxing and the restaurant seems first rate. I plan to go back again.

I had a "noisy neighbor" and the hotel was unable to discount that part of my stay because it was pre-payed thru hotels.com. I was also disappointed that my credit card was run for $120, again excessive because the entire room was prepaid.
