Metro Hotel Sydney Central - Haymarket

My room location was noisy at night. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful though and room cleanliness was ok. I found the facilities dated though despite being told I was in a refurb'd room. Location was convenient with it being in the centre of the city, close to everything...train, harbour etc.

Arrived early in morning after a long flight, had emailed hotel prior and they let us check in early and gave us a free upgrade to a very smart room.Great location and service all round.

As this had been our first time in a hotel such as this, we were unsure of what to do. I found that the girl who attended to us was not helpful or informative. Good location to explore Sydney. Good access to trains and airport. Lower cost accommodation option for Sydney. Minor road noise. Room had a crack in the toilet bowl and could do with a new bed as springs were soft. Overall tidy and comfortable.

We stumbled across this hotel last year on an overnight trip to Sydney and were so impressed we always go back if it's available. It's a brilliant location, close to public transport and a reasonable walking distance to all the major attractions. Very clean hotel and the staff have always been fantastic to us, despite us not having the appearance one […] might expect of guests in such a hotel ( we often look like scrappy backpackers after a day or travel or running round city) we have never been treated differently. Rooms are. Decent size too and one thing I love is that when you shower you get continuous hot water. Might not sound like much but after also staying at the Mecure and having to move in and out of the water to not get burnt it's something I appreciate. Only downside is no on site parking. We had a redecorated Superior Queen room on 12th floor & felt it was done up really nice in neutral tones. Staff were excellent & very obliging to any request we made. Pool was nice although a spa would have been a bonus. On a negative for us, we didn't like the fact that the sound on the Tv would not turn up very loud as we are both hard of hearing, We understand that this would be for the comfort of people either side of us but if we can't hear it, there was no point in having it on. Also while the air con had controls that allowed yot to control temp & a fan, it took forever for it to make a difference and it was only able to be on when in the room because the entry card is inserted into the slot to make it go so when we went out had to take card with us to get back in therefore air con only worked when present. Luckily room wasn't on sunny side of city so wasn't too much of a problem. All in all a comfortable stay and we would stay there again. Only a few hundred meters to Central Train Station and easily seen from the Pitt Street exit so easy to find. George Street very close for free 555 bus as well. Pročitajte više

The Shower curtain needed washing and or bleaching. It was very convenient to be able to purchase delicious breakfasts. All of the staff were very friendly and obliging. Thank you for having me as a guest.

My stay was absolutely great but nothing in this world is perfect and I don't expect perfection, however I stayed at you motel twice this week and both times the mattress was hard and lumpy( well used I realise as your motel is almost always full). We were two women staying at Metro, my request for single beds were met. We were in Sydney for Paris Ballet at Capitol theatre which was just across the road. The front desk staff were very accomodating. I was able to store my luggage with no problems and get a late check-out. The woman who cleaned my room was very sweet and even brought me an item I left in the room as I was checking out. I was very impressed with the service at this hotel.

The only downside to our stay, was being woken at 7am due to the workman upstairs banging. Otherwise we were very happy, great location, close to everything, would recommend it and would definitely stay there again

Hotel location was good just a couple of blocks away from Central train station & Haymarket. Many convenience stores, shops and restaurants around the vicinity. We're very disappointed with housekeeping. They didn't clean/vacuum the rooms very well. Shower curtains in bathroom had mould in them!

Great location in China Town and near all transport hubs. Quite noisy on Saturday night. Room clean and modern but very small for two adults and two children. Staff a bit abrupt at times but not unhelpful. Rooftop pool a plus.

No laundry facility and overpriced laundry service. Walls are PAPER THIN! I couldn't even watch an episode of South Park without the guy new door complaining about the noise and then his snoring kept me up! Washroom had dispensers instead of bar soap and bottles. Room was clean & tidy but stains everywhere. Air con & fridge not cold enough. staff very friendly & helpful. buffet breakfast was extremly disappointing,sausages rubbery,bacon hard & chewy,hash browns dry & hard,tomatoes & baked beans cold. do not have the breakfast buffet.Fantastic central location.

We had a single night in Sydney before going on a cruise. We chose this hotel for the price, but didn't want to stay in a run down place. It was very affordable, easy to get to and surrounded by great restaurants. The room was very nice, and it was perfect for what we needed. Will stay here again when in Sydney.

The hotel aircon system operates from the basement, alongside where they "occasionally" pump out the grease traps. This operation occurred the nite we stayed and the smell throughout the hotel (for hours) was unbearable.

Disappointed with size of room, given it's supposed rating as a "superior queen". Location of hotel is very good and discount parking arrangement with nearby parking station is a good deal.

The staff were very helpful and flexible. We were allowed a late check out without any problem. They chased up our airport shuttle when it didn't come. Lots of shops and cafes nearby. Nearest public transport at central station.

The location is very convenient. You can walk to everywhere in downtown area. I booked this hotel for my friend(a couple for 4 nights), it is for their stay before their trip. They are very satisfied with this hotel. They sent me email from Diamond Princess, their comments - the hotel is excellent.

The hotel was nice and central, close to George St., where a free shuttle was available to take you to downtown and the Circular wharf. Close to Chinatown, where there were lots of restaurants and stores and the Paddy Market and central station. The room was clean and comfortable and we stayed twice during this trip. The only complaint I have was the banging of the guest room doors. If some sort of slowing spring could be put on when someone leaves the room the door might not slam shut so loud - it was very annoying late at night

The hotel decor looked worn and tired, but was very conveniently situated. Staff were pleasant and room was clean. Towels were changed daily, beds made and and room serviced, I did not expect that for a short stay of 2 nights.

Stayed for 2 nights in a Superior Queen room on the 12th floor and was quite satisfied with the Hotel as well as the room excepting that the room did not have a view even though I had requested one at the time of booking. I will recommend the Hotel to others.

The hotel itself seemed like it needed a bit of an upgrade. However, saying that, it was clean, comfortable and conveniently located. Staff were friendly, helpful and the experience was hassle free. You get your money's worth. It's nothing luxurious, so don't expect too much but a clean and comfortable room that needs a bit of an upgrade.

Great location - close to Central Railway, theatres, Chinatown and Darling Harbour is a 10 minute walk. Price was good and pool is a bonus! We will be using the Metro Central on our future and regular visits to Sydney.
