A nice hotel in the heart of Ermita. Nice architecture outside of the room, easy walk to the Bay or to shopping at Robinsons Place or to local shops. A very good breakfast buffet but please replace the annoying television with background music. A good restaurant at night.

I have stayed at the Best Western-La Corona many times over the past four years, along with my graduate students. We usually stay there for a few days before going to our archaeological field site and upon return to Manila in transit to the U.S. I love this hotel. The price is right, the hotel is clean and has nicely decorated rooms, restaurant and […] lobby. The rooms are exceptional for Manila - excellent bathroom amenities, beautifully decorated rooms, with good lighting, perfect AC, cable TV, coffee and tea, internet that works well (also a business center with free internet if you don't have a laptop). The staff are very professional and friendly (they always remember our names from visit to visit. The food in the restaurant is well-priced and outstanding, including Filipino, American, and international dishes, and the free breakfast is really wonderful - both American and Asian choices. Ermita, the traditional tourist district, is colorful and exciting, near the Spanish city, museums, and other historic areas (also close to the airport, so not a problem even in rush hour). Some tourists might find Ermita to be too chaotic if they want a sanitized tourist experience, but I find it exhilarating and interesting. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The rooms are comfortable and everything worked well except the mini-bar refridgerator. They offered to replace it for me but since I was checking out the next morning I just asked for ice, which they brought twice for me for no charge. The hotels has 6 vehicles available to take guests out, which can be anything from an airport run (at about $12 US) to further points for tourism at negotiable rates. The hotel itself is clean and pleasant. The employees are very courtious and helpfull. They are very smart and professional looking besides being hospitable. The room where I stayed are big and lot of spaces, however, the TV screen is small. I would very much recommend this hotel to my friends and relatives.

Hotel was recently renovated. We would have rated it as a 4 was it not for the cable (tv) which didn't work at all (in any room). Was told to use in house channel 2 which has movies but was centrally controlled, but no one knew how to use it! Other than the tv, a great place for a nights sleep!

The staff of the hotel are great, they really go out of their way to make your stay comfortable, it is too bad that there are things outside their control, such as the dirty kids begging for money, or the fecal matter on the streets around the area, I know this ,as I stepped on it and end it up throwing a good pair of walking shoes. The fridge in the hotel restaurant apparently don't work too good as the beers you buy there are warm, there is nothing worse than drinking warm beer, specially when it cost P82.00. I found the beers from nearby 7/11 to be cheaper, P34.00 and very cold. The room I stayed in was very noisy as it is on the 2nd floor and the noice from the outside just comes in, next time I will request a room on a higher floor. The smell of cigarette was very strong in the hall, so I complained and the smell went away, I could hear the fan from the vent at the end of the hall working, so my guess is that it had been turned off. Stayed for a week at hotel. The staff was friendly and cleaned the room once mid week. Over all was satisfied with the location. Was there for medical exam at St Lukes, which is just around the corner, within walking distance. And also had an interview at US Embassy which you can walk to or take a short taxi ride to.

After checking in was told to wait in their lounge and they would send a person to take me to my room after an hour nothing.....I had checked in post 3 PM so there is no excuse whatsoever for not having availability. As I was being escorted to my room I was told my room had been upgraded thinking they may have sensed I was irritable about the wait […] time. As we neared the room there was the sound of incessant hammering and a plastic drop cloth placed over the door of the so called "upgraded room". I was told oh don't worry they will stop at 5 PM given this was nearly two hours from that point and I had spent a day of travel I was none to pleased. Upon opening the door to the "upgrade room" it was a reflection of my overall experience it was small, a total dump, but at that point I had already prepaid via Expedia and felt I just got bent over and they drove. Would have been better of in one of the local short time hotels that usually facilitates commercial transactions between the opposite sexes, AVOID, AVOID!!!! Did I mention AVOID this place? i am used to this hotel every time i fly to manila. very convenient despite ermita/malate district is not as nice as makati.but it's a very good value for money, nice breakfast, clean room although a little bit small. surrondings may be a bit noisy at night (lots of bars, clubs, discos...) that's the only drawback. very good for a short stay only.
