We loved the new comfy beds in Ibis rooms, but my fears about the first-floor room being noisy were justified. We were just above the front door, and kept awake first by groups noisily smoking just outside, and later - for a whole hour between about 2am and 3pm, by drunken groups coming back late and shouting up and down the corridor. "perfect for what we needed"
Great value just £39 for each room. Went for a concert. Tram stop to arena just a minute walk away as is wetherspoons and shop etc... Clean and simple rooms only prob was you had to pay to watch the tv but not a massive issue for us. Parking was a bit of a farce as the car park isnt attached. We chose this hotel to stay over on Christmas Eve to avoid taxi costs. The price if the room was good for the location to town. The staff are friendly enough, but the rooms are extremely basic, not somewhere to choose for a treat, more a necessity. Compared with other places that if looked for can be found in this bracket this would be a last choice. […] The area is quite rough. "As you'd expect for a 2*"
The room was basic but entirely functional however when first going into the room there was a very strong smell coming from the bathroom pod, it was a very chlorinated smell, it may have just been from when it was previously cleaned, opening the window cleared it away and it didn't return. My only criticism was the pillows, In other budget hotels you […] tend to get a variation in pillows, Holiday Inn Express for example give you two firm pillows and two soft pillows, here though they were all massive, I don't sleep with big pillows anyway so having no alternative but to use these huge ones left me with a very sore neck in the morning which is a shame because the new beds Ibis have installed are incredibly comfortable! Great place for an overnight stay. I know Sheffield really well so was fine for me. If you don't know it too well you may feel a bit out of the way. Hooray-at last a hotel with a lovely, comfy bed! The room was clean and had everything I required including plenty of tea and coffee. The hotel is ideally situated for Ponds Forge and is only a few minutes walk from the railway station. Despite its proximity to the city centre it was very quiet during the night. The only disappointment was dinner which […] was over priced and very poor quality. Fortunately I only ate there on one evening. Did not require breakfast so cannot comment on that. "Ticked all the boxes"
Staff were friendly and made some useful suggestions. Slightly noisy air conditioning in the room but at least it it worked (it was a hot and humid weekend). "Friday to Sunday at Ponds Forge Sheffield."
Shower room is up to date, clean and works well. There were no problems with the room or it's services. Bed was comfortable and I was warm. Carpet needed cleaning, no obvious dirt just looked grubby. The room, apart from shower area, was dated and needs a revamp. TV was small and you had to pay for any reasonable viewing, didn't even have all free-view […] channels. If you had a computer internet access was available at a price too. No parking at the hotel but there is an excellent discounted multi storey almost next door.
