Beautiful and immaculately maintained hotel. At every turn, the service was impeccable. This part of Waikiki Beach has no beach. The waves wash up against the wall around the grounds. I would stay at this property again. A few lessons we learnt as any stay. I found it was a comfortable stay and for the most part the staff is doing a very good job. There is room for improvement and I think this property is open to feedback and would make changes for the better. It would of been more professional to ask us if we wanted a tour. We were tired and just wanted the key. I ended up insisting with reception we didn't want a tour, just our key. The restaurants were very good. Room service (food and delivery) was outstanding however pricey. The snacks by the pool (complimentary pineapple, ice cream) were a welcomed treat. The manager did a follow-up to our room and quickly addressed our concerns by offering us another room on a higher floor with better view. We had complimentary chocolates, champagne, cookies delivered to our room. I think the hotel made repeated gestures to put a smile on our faces throughout our 5-night stay .... it worked. we have stayed here multiple times and have never felt welcome. We love the ambiance of the setting so we stay but the staff is not welcoming. We had to fight for a better room even though we had an AX platinum card and booked the room and was guaranteed an upgrade if there was room. I had always seen reviews about this place on TV and on the internet, but until you stay here you can only imagine. The hotel itself is not that large, but the atmosphere, service and overal feeling is one that you enjoy wherever you go on the grounds. Without doubt the best customer Service of any hotel my wife and I have stayed at, and we have stayed in many of the most highly rated hotels in the world. The staff went above and beyond any reasonable expectation in response to any enquiry we made, it was just incredible. We would never stay anywhere else in Honolulu.

We just returned from the Halekulani, where we stayed for our honeymoon for a little less than 1 week. This was, by far, the best hotel I have ever stayed in. Request an Ocean View room, on a high floor -- you can listen to the ocean while you fall asleep! The staff were extremely accomodating and even let us check out late (6PM) at no extra charge, […] though we did have to move rooms because someone was coming to stay in our original room (definitely not a problem). Concierge desk was very helpful as well, as they can help plan activities for the day with you. House Without a Key restaurant was our favorite...we'd go down there in the evenings and spend time listening to the Hawaiian music and hula while sipping on the best Mai Tai in the world. SpaHalekulani is also absolutely exquisite. They can accommodate couples for massages in the couples sweet, and your massage ends with a mochi ice cream treat and tea. So relaxing! I chose this hotel based on the fact that the service is supposed to be great and it was!!! Everyone had a smile and was very accomodating! My favorite part was how when you go to the pool there are "pool boys" who meet you and set up towels for you on your chair- that made us feel very special! My only complaints were that there is no hot tub and no real "beach"- there is access to the beach but, not one directly in front of the hotel. In front of the hotel the water hits and there is a barrier between the pool and beach. My main complaint was the room- it was overall clean but, VERY dated. Had an ocean front room which had no benefit for the additional cost over an ocean view room that another family member had. There was an additional daily charge for a roll away bed for our son. Most chairs with any shade were taken by mid morning which meant we spent less time around the pool than we had at the other hotel we stayed in in the area prior to the Halekulani. The Halekulani is, without doubt, the best holiday hotel we have ever stayed at. While ther are some 400+ rooms the service we received was personalissed and we felt especially valued by the staff. The staff quickly learned our names and we were greeted accordingly. I'm used to staying at pricey hotels so Halekulani's room prices were not an issue. However, you're paying a lot of money for good service alone. The rooms are outdated. The balconies all face each other so there's no privacy. Buffet breakfast for 2 is $62 and when I asked the next day if we were restricted to buffet we were told yes. Had to use the […] "fancier" restaurant to get a normal breakfast and since we were in our pool attire, there went that. Room service was excellent although most of the meals were not. 99% of the staff was extremely courteous and went out of their way to make sure we had a nice stay. The other 1% was just a bad experience that was resolved when we reported it. And if you are looking for the island experience do not stay there. Beach is about 200 sq feet. Plus Honolulu is horrible! NYC on an island is the best way to describe it. Stay at a resort out of town or better yet on another island.
