Cape Town Ritz Hotel - Cape Town

We booked the hotel for its location but there are so many other hotels in the surrounding areas that this is not worth staying at. The facilities that I believe would give it its star rating were very poor or non existent. Breakfast which is included in the price, is in fact not. There was no one in the dining hall in the morning. No food was prepared […] (that full english breakfast that was so enticing) and they didn't even put out cereals. Another customer at the hotel asked for a cash voucher or discount on his room to go and eat breakfast somewhere else and they would not give him one. While this was a leisure trip, I also went to some business meetings and when the hairdryer in the room is broken, it certainly starts your mood for the day in the wrong way. We found a cockroach in our bath... I don't need to say any more on that. The linen on our bed was clean and the room was vacuumed every day. The air conditioner did not work and there really is not much more to say because we left really early in the morning and only slept in the hotel. I did enquire about the shuttle service that they also 'offer' and was told that I should call a taxi - they didn't even offer to call one for me. I would honestly rate this as a 1 star hotel(and I am being very generous) and if you book here - YOU ARE DEFINATELY PAYING TOO MUCH!!!! Pročitajte više

Hotel in good location fairly safe although we did not go out very late Some good pubs and restaurants nearby. Also close to the sea and within walking distance of VA Waterfront and but stop for hop on hop off bus which is worth a trip, Hotel also organizes various tours. PLEASE DON'T NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL EVEN IF ITS FREE. The bathroom was nasty, hotel food was yucky, front desk agents very rude...all of them. Everything had an odor including the elevator. Please don't not stay here.

It was a last minute trip & by the time I booked this hotel there weren't many options left. I chose it because of it's location, and the pictures and description didn;'t look so bad on the web. But I was very disappointed. Although the staff was relatively friendly, the room was tiny and we saw 4 cockroaches during our 4 night stay! The hotel is old and run down. There were bugs in the bathroom (be sure to plug the drains), and holes in the bed sheets. Having saidd that we had a terrific view, I liked the location, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was included and was nice and there is a revolving restaurant at the top of the hotel with great views.

We spent 5 days in a Delux room in July, the Delux rooms seem to be corner rooms with windows on two sides giving a good view. The rooms showed their age but were clean. The hotel reception is lovely and staff helpful. The hotel rooms are not what you see on the website but are average. We stayed on the 10th floor so had lovely views. We had no hot water for three nights we were there and there is no heater in the room and it was cold. The buffet breakfast was lovely and the staff very helpful and friendly.

The hotel might look abit dated, need some modenisation at the lobby area, however, the service was excelent.. the room was nice and clean and just got to love the revolving restaurant on the top of the hotel. The view was fantastic and food was marvelous!.. Highly recommended! Oh not to mention about the warm hospitality of the staffs!

This hotel is old and while it has been maintained in a safe condition, it must have seen much better days. Doors to rooms have been replaced or repaired with cheap thin wood hollow core doors, and though the doors fit tight, my ID card slipped the door latch. The Hair Dryer was vintage circa 1950's, the box type permanent mount style. The HD tV was […] in the lobby, while the room TV was an old anode that had no cable, or satalite, only broadcast TV. Very low quality. The antiquated room decor and paint was cheap looking, and the hall ways were dimly lit, almost dark. The elevators are on their last legs. Internet service is not free, and is expensive. The hotel charges 30 ZAR per day for casual daytime parking, but for hotel guests, we are captured with a special rate of 50 ZAR because our cars sit overnight in the garage. (we are gone all day). I think this is shameful. I believe internet and parking should be free. I have found other places nicer with free internet, HD TV, and free parking in otherplaces, including the remote karoo. So why not the Capetown Ritz. This brings me to my final criticque......internet searches associate "The Capetown Ritz" with the Ritz (Carlton)....Be warned, "The Capetown RITZ" IS NOT associated with The Ritz Carlton hotels. Taking into account the age of the hotel this provided all the basic requirements for a holiday which was chiefly picked for its location, cost and ease of accessibility to all transport links. The staff were unfailingly helpful, particularly in the restaurant where we felt we were greeted as old friends. The breakfast was more than adequate with lovely […] fresh fruit and, should you wish it, hot meals were freshly cooked to order. The hotel fulfilled all our requirements, which were for a high, quiet room (it's not their fault that the neighbouring guests were so inconsiderate at times especially the South American Girls' Hockey Clubs who turned night into day). The room itself was very vulnerable with an archaic key system which we, along with others, found difficult to open and not very satisfactory from the security point of view. Being in a deluxe room on the 16th floor the view from the wrap-around windows was breathtaking but the downside was that when it was windy - which was most nights - they rattled most alarmingly which could be thought of as a good thing as it helped to drown out the very irritating grating of the air conditioning even when switched off. Summing up, these few niggles were vastly outweighed by the friendliness of the staff, the reasonable cost, its cleanliness and ideal location which felt safe even after dark and we would definitely use this hotel again, the sooner the better!!! Hi, I had one problem during my stay. After my first night there, I went into the bathroom to take a shower, and saw a large roach crawling on the wall. It appeared to have come out of a small crack between the shower tile and the wall. I hope you will do more to prevent this problem, as I like the hotel otherwise.

Don't expect sth glamourous from the Cape Town Ritz, coz the hotel is worn out to trenches. But it was worth the humble price for 2 we paid/night, the view from the 15th floor was spectacular, the breakfast buffet very satisfying and extensive and the pool refreshing! So, after all: a good price/quality rate.

Det var inte så modernt (rent) som det ser ut på bilderna, men helt ok. Det ligger bra till, inte direkt inne i stan men väldigt nära. Fanns alltid parkeringsplats, som inte kostade mycket extra. Frukosten helt ok. Helt ok att bo på när man är i en stad som Cape Town och inte har tid att vara på hotellet. Vi var här i nov 2012.

Et helt greit og billig hotell med utgangspunkt for turer rundt i Cape Town området. Gangavstand til Waterfront er det, men kan fort bli litt for langt når det er veldig varmt, som det var når vi var der rundt juletider. Anbefaler IKKE den roterende middagsresturanten på toppen av hotellet. Ventet vel bortimot 1 1/2 time på maten, men den var god når den først omsider kom. Dårlig stemning der, med dårlig service, kjøkkenet rett inn i resturanten og mye bråk og virket som dårlig stemning blant de ansatte og personalproblemer. Svært skuffende opplevelse. Har tidligere hatt god erfaring med samme hotell (3 år siden), men denne gangen var det så dårlig at vi valgte å bytte hotell etter en natt. Kort oppsumert: Veldig slitent hotell, med lav standard. Dårlig rengjøring av rommet (fant hår i vasken og i sengen). Das Hotel ist mittlerweile total überaltert. Da müssten dringendst ein paar Renovationen gemacht werden. Das Bad im Zimmer ist mehr wie überaltert und den Lift hört man Tag und Nacht. Zum Glück war der Preis nicht überrissen. Das Frühstück war gut aber in absolut ungemütlicher Atmosphäre. Auch die Bediehnung dort lässt zu wünschen übrig, man ist eben […] nur eine Nummer...
