Nearby, the Spanish Steps are the place for lovers’ trysts, shopping, and honing the Italian art of ‘dolce far niente’ – idling and people-watching.

We had to attend a wedding in Rome over the Christmas/New-year period. I knew that this was going to be expensive, so I went Online to get the best value that I could. I logged into Hotels.com looking for a decent hotel near the church where the wedding was to be held. Immediately the Priscilla Hotel presented itself as the perfect option. It was within […] walking distance of the church and seemed to have all the facilities that we needed. When we arrived there however the reality was much different from that promised on your website. The room was tiny. There was no room service, no online facility, no working air conditioning, single beds only (contrary to what I booked) and no bar or restaurant downstairs. But my abiding memory of the Priscilla Hotel in Rome was its elevator. This was a basic contra- balanced, open shaft, pulleys and cabled system that brought me right back to my early childhood. It was entered by a sliding cage door beyond which was a solid wooden door. Both had to be opened and (more importantly) closed properly before anything worked. And there was the problem. If a fellow guest failed to close both doors after them as they exited the lift then the system became moribund and useless until someone went up to the floor where the the doors were not properly closed. Charming indeed you may say. And yes, childhood memories of mine would support that aspect of things. However, before checking out on our last day, this seriously flawed, if quaint system, yet again left us down resulting in my having to lug all my luggage down three flights of stairs. "The Hotel Priscilla in Rome - nice location"
From the airport, we took the Express train at 14 Euros per person to Roma Termini. We took a cab from Roma Termini to the hotel with three pieces of luggage for 10 Euros. We would stay here for two nights before cruise. Though we arrived early, we received a room right away. The room and bed sheets looked very clean. Bathroom was small but had American […] towels and consistent hot water. The front desk gave us a detailed city map and showed us how to get around. We easily walked to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. The next day we walked a few blocks to take a bus to Vatican, but the bus went on strike. So instead we took a cab at a nearby taxi station for 12 Euros. The breakfast buffet served coffee, milk, juice, pastry, cereals, hard boiled eggs, ham, cheese, all decent. I tried my first cup of cappuccino at a cafe just across the street. For 1.15 Euro, it turned out to be the best cup in our entire stay in Europe, better than the one in Crete that charged 3.5 Euros! The front desk also arranged a private ride to take us to Civitavecchia for cruise, though taking the train should cost just 4.5 Euros a person. Priscilla is located in Via Veneto, a nice and safe neighborhood. Enkelt mellan/lågprishotell en kvarts promenad från Termini i lugna kvarter. Frukosten enkel och rummet i minsta laget för 2 pers. Kan trots allt rekommenderas för budgetresevarianten.

We had a very good and pleasant stay at Priscilla. Our room was as expected and the staff were helpful and friendly. There was a good atmosphere. And the location were also good, close to turist attractions. I would definitely reccomend it to others.
