This is a very busy hotel but then again what can you expect from a building in Asia with 84 floors. The food in both hotel bistro on the 18th floor and skyline buffet was excellent. The Baiyoke is one hotel where you would stay at just once simply for the experience, then probably not a second time. For that reason, please splurge and get a suite in the Space Zone. You will not enjoy the full experience staying lower than the Space Zone, and the non-suites at the Space Zone have small windows so you will not enjoy the height either. […] The hotel is old, and even facilities/deco in the suites are akin to 3-star hotels. Moreover, location wise it is not the best as the Baiyoke is not within comfortable walking distance to the metro or BTS; many other options in Bangkok are close to the metro/BTS and you will really appreciate that. While staying at the Baiyoke, I took the taxi all the time which is not the best option due to heavy traffic at all times during the day. The restaurant options are good, and so is the Fruit Buffet. There are four floors of shopping at the basement of the hotel, as well as a night market, but nothing to shout home about. It's also cumbersome to always have to take the elevator to the 18th floor lobby to connect to a second elevator up to your room, plus there are often long lines of tourists taking the same elevators up to the viewing gallery on the 78th floor. Lets start with the staff, The reception is on the 18th Floor, the street level has no ramp nor any assistance for the luggage. The reception staff was so cold, as if we had her at gun point and did not answer any queries. The next day we left the hotel at around 1 pm only to come back at 10 pm. The 'please clean my room' tag was clearly displayed on […] the door, when we enquired why the room was not cleaned, the floor housekeeping guy said there was no tag displayed, when we said that it was, he said HE WILL CHECK THE CCTV FOOTAGE FOR THE SAME and get back if he should clean the room - 4 stars on the brochure - 0 stars in actual. The common areas smelt so bad that you would not want to come back to the hotel. The towels smelt so bad the full bathroom had bad odour due to them, even after asking them for fresh towels - the same - medics can use them as vomit inducing agents. The concierge guy was reading a newspaper at 11 am, nothing wrong with him, when I asked him about the nearest metro (BTS) station he said, theres none nearby and just take a cab, without moving his eyes away from the newspaper and any other communication, we got down to the street level only to find that hotel has a free shuttle to a BTS station. Could not have a better location. Close to Pratunam as well as the airport rail link. Hotel has a shuttle service which is not all that great, but does the job. Hotel is nice, but very poor on maintenance and cleanliness. Housekeeping are probably poorly trained, but at least they are courteous and obliging. Would I stay here again? Probably yes.

Great location, close to the airport rail link as well as the railway network. Ideally situated for shopping. Good hotel, excellent, breakfast spread, but signs of poor maintenance. Rooms not exceptionally clean but the corridors have a funny smell (probably some food smell that you'll find on the streets). Would I stay there again? Probably yes!

Decided to book this for my last week in Bangkok before flying home. It had a heavy price tag, but thought "what the hell, may aswell" after looking at the photos, it looked comfortable and somewhat classy. When I got there it was anything but... Our Baiyoke experience began with arriving at the hotel around 6pm after a whole day of travel (boats flights etc) and quite weary, looking forward to our stay. On arrival into the lobby we were told that due to a large booking groups flight cancellation our room was not available and they were happy to put us in the "nice" hotel next door (a 6 story […] extremely unimpressive building that in no way looked nice or inviting. We immediately said its not acceptable and they would have to find a room for us as it was not our fault the previous occupants flight was delayed, and if you are going to sell a room, you cant just leave people in it if its already booked for that date! They still tried to take us over to the small hotel where we finally met the manager, who took us back to the hotel lobby. They then proceded to offer us a room on the 33rd floor after we had specifically paid extra to be in the "sky zone" - floors 45 to 60ish - which we also said was unacceptable. The hotel and room is nice. However, we had a terrible experience from check-in to check-out with the staff. The check-in process itself took over 45 minutes. We were eager to drop our luggage off and go see Bangkok. The hotel staff didn't care, even the duty manager was nonchalant about the long queue and miserable air conditioning in the lobby.
