Monterey Downtown Days Inn - Monterey

The ocean-view room was clean, comfortable and very roomy. We were pleased with the selection at the complimentary breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to friends.

We were there for a wedding. It was in walking distance to the pier and restaurants. Very nice if you and the family are passing through for the night.

Nice hotel, large room (we got the K.S. bed) the only real drawback is that this hotel is in two part directly across the street from each other and it might be an inconvenience to go for breakfast. Overall a nice little place.

I arrived at the hotel in the evening and there wasn't anyone at the front desk. I can understand that. We settled into our rooms and wanted to try out the "spa" on site, and thus encountered the first problem; there were only two towels in the whole bathroom. I called the front desk and asked for more towels, and they made me come to the front desk […] to get them .Then we went to the "spa" ..it was more a 3ft hole in the ground that has a label on it called "spa". It was lukewarm at best, and once the jets came on the water quickly became filled with trash. Yes, trash. Not just leaves and sticks, but water bottles, pieces of plastic and even bottle caps.The shower water never got hot either, and I noticed the wallpaper at the door and all across the room was peeling and coming off.We tried to go to sleep but the AC unit kept making a weird and prominent buzzing noise when it wasn't on. Very hard to sleep with. The next morning we called the front desk and asked for new towels. They called our room and told us we have to bring back our dirty towels before we can get new towels.. who does this?! -This is the worst place I have ever stayed. The manager let us check in early, location is perfect for walking downtown, the bed was very comfortable, and everything was CLEAN! Will definitely stay here again!

Reasonabley comfortable for an overnight stay tho I wouldn't linger as although it has easy access to the freeway it is a good distance from some of Monterey's attractions

We liked this hotel. Indian guy at reception not the most welcoming person in Monterey and the cleaning always ready to assist you even though their job is to keep the premises clean. Very confortable bed and pillows. Nice big fridge, microwave, coffe maler, hair dryer etc. Nice 10 min walk to the wharf in town. The room was clean and comfortable, with a large bed. The bathroom looks like it has been renovated fairly recently, with new tile on the floor and in the bathtub. It is within walking distance of downtown Monterey. Drawbacks? No internet at all, either in the rooms or in the lobby. Also, the staff does not man the front desk all the time. They sit […] in back and you have to ring the bell to get them to come out. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but I received several phone calls while i was there (I had lost my cell phone during the trip) and missed several of them. The location and price were decent. The only negative aspect was the lobby, which smelled of unpleasant body odor. Since that was my first experience of the motel, it set a difficult tone to ignore. In the end, though, it had decent beds, shower, and locks that worked. That's good enough for $60.

The front door kept moving in the wind and the motion sensors kept turning on the lights when we rolled over in bed. Had to cover the sensor each night. But it is a great location and a great price and they seem to be trying to fix it up.

Only one good thing is location, 10-15 min walk to waterfront. Room was clean, but with impossible smell from some cleaning chemistry - could not kill it.

Rm 109. Room clean, a/c, heat good overall good. Bathroom floor very, very cold and slippery. Shower was terrible extremely low pressure and showerhead needs to be replaced!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was a very inexpensive hotel, that being said it was reasonably clean for the price. The room was good sized, the bed was okay as far as comfort level. Our flight was delayed and we didn't arrive until 2am at the hotel. We found our keys waiting for us at the door (what a relief to a horrendous day), and was even greeted as we were walking to our room by the front desk clerk! AT 2am! The hotel was very out dated. The bathrooms tiles were broken and dirty. The hotel was self service which means around 7am you had to get your own towels, wash towels, tissue ,and whatever else you needed on your own from there storage room. The room was all that I needed for a quick weekend trip to scuba dive. It was clean, comfortable, inexpensive and the heater worked really well. It was very easy to hear others in adjacent rooms but luckily I had courteous neighbors.

We needed to contact the hotel before arriving, but no one answered the phone for HOURS. When we arrived, the staff was VERY, VERY kind and helpful. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. They advertise "ocean view" rooms. ...don't be fooled. Just because you can see the ocean from a distance does not mean the view is worth the extra money. Would not want a room next to the equipment/supply room again. Very noisy. There was an issue with hot water. When my husband came home after a very long day, he was not able to take a hot shower which accounts for the 'unhappy hubby". This happened twice so it was not an isolated incident.

Rooms were clean. The decor was dated, but there's a fridge, microwave & coffee pot in the room. The mattress was like a slab of concrete, but the motel is right in the middle of an area of shops, restaurants and pubs.
