This hotel is a little way out of Rotterdam, but easy to reach via train, bus and tram. The trip to Rotterdam takes about 25 minutes by public transport or car. The rooms are very comfortable and staff are friendly. The meals in the restaurant are lovely and of a very good quality. "Fantastic hotel"
Very friendly helpful staff, modern beautiful hotel, excellent breakfast, lovely clean rooms with impeccable bathrooms. Play room for kids with Lego and wooden blocks. Lovely outdoor area with pool. "Good hotel for a weekend family getaway"
Stayed during the Easter weekend and loved it, very friendly staff and great service, especially the computer and the Xbox in the lobby was a big help. We stayed at Novotel Rotterdam Schiedam for a couple of days prior to embarking on a cruise. Hotel is located a few kilometers out of Rotterdam, however just two stops on the metro line, only a 5 minute trip. Hotel provided wi-fi internet free in the room which was very comfortable and overlooked the pool. There are no convenience stores nearby (we […] did not have need for any). We got the last room from the corridor so it was closest to the freeway so was noisy. The washing basin didn't drain well and the central heating was too hot. "Too expensive for its services"
On arrival the room given to us was not what we booked. We booked an executive room with sleeping couch. We got a room with two chairs. When we asked again they gave us a room with a couch. There was only one available. Novotel seem to have two kind of rooms that are identically inside but differ on amendenties. The 1st evening was cold, the heater […] could not bring us enough warm air to feel comfortable. Since there were no maintenance people available at Sunday evening they offered an extra blanket, The next day the maintenance man looked at the system and said it was OK now but it was still too cold. We changed rooms (another floor) and it was much better there. You don't get the noise of the nearby highway or other rooms so that is a big plus. You probably have more problems with the noise in summer when windows are open or you sit at the pool. Breakfast service is good, lots of choices although too high priced for the service. Dinner was so-so. I doubt if the hotel fully fits in the 4 star rating advertised. It is more an upgraded motel with a high price per night, even for business travellers. We chose this hotel as it was near where I had to be and mid priced against the three hotels available. The cheaper hotel had bad reviews. A price of 80-90 per night should be enough for a hotel as Novotel. A 4 star hotel should have better handling on heating and relocation, in many other countries a service person would help relocation and/or is full time available.
