First and last stay at this franchise. You get what you pay for - very, very ordinary.

Had a very good experience at this hotel.

I reviewed other comments before booking this hotel for a one night stay as we drove thru Indiana on our way to St. Louis. The hotel seemed short staffed, the carpet in the hallways was not very clean, the heating/AC was either too hot or too cold. But the bed was very comfortable. For the price, this was a good value for our needs.

We were informed that the vending machines were located on main floor not on any others. That really was only thing we were told that only been open since June so maybe that will change.

The front desk staff was rude and refuse to empty my trash and took all day to bring me tissue and fresh towels.

Our stay at the Econo Lodge was great. We appreciated the help of the staff with our needs. We, my family and I, were very satified with the services we received there. When I come back to Merrillville, I will be booking my room there again. I will also recommend it to all of my relatives and friends.

Check in was fine but the room looked cleaned until you got a closer look. Needs to be vacuum especially the edges. Beds were fine and comfortable. The next morning at 6:30am (when breakfast was suppose to be ready) no one was around to be seen for about 10 minutes and no breakfast. Finally we found someone, but did not look like he worked there but […] he did, told us that there is only cold breakfast, but when we checked in we were told that there would be hot breakfast. This was a complete surprise, we stay in Merrillville /Hobart often and have never stayed off of this exit, so we decided to try this one due to the price. It was a great hotel, our only complaint, breakfast was terrible.

Management tries very hard but sometimes short-staffed. I had a pile of nail clippings on the floor of my room that houskeeping missed from previous occupants, but staff cleaned it up. Overall it is a good value and I would stay there again. Rooms tend to be warm even with A/C running, but it's not a deal-breaker. The hotel was very nice, clean, and modern. Our room was without a remote for the TV, so our room was changed, and was done extremely quickly. Overall we had a very good experience.

Newly renovated, friendly workers, clean and at a great price. Highly recommended.

Room was clean and staff was friendly. No hair dryers in room :( lobby is redone nicely but the rooms did not reflect the same quality. Breakfast was dry mini doughnuts and muffins. No fruit. No cereal. Pretty lacking even for a continental. But as far as hotels go, I've paid a lot more for a lot worse.

The staff told me that this is a former Lee's Inn. This explains why interior of the lodge does not look like an average Econlodge - it is at least two clicks better. Toliet in initial room did not work. Overflowed. Staff moved us to another room immediately. Very nice motel. Will recommend to friends. Easy access from highway.

The only compliant I had were the rooms were very warm as was the pool area. Even with the A/C sent at 64 it didn't get very cool.

We were moved to three different rooms - the first had not been cleaned, the second was a non-smoking room that smelt like a cigar. We were finally moved to a smoking room that had been remodeled and we were the first to stay in it (so we were told) but that was not true. 1) No elevator, 2) changing rooms three times (taking over 30 minutes to do so) […] and then 3) having to settle for smoking room was not a good experience! Overall, the hotel was way more then we expected for the money. Very friendly and helpful staff, the room itself was what you would expect for a much higher price. However, the down side was the Cont. Breakfast. It consisted of toast, coffee, and O.J. But we would still stay here again. We would just make other plans for breakfast.

We enjoyed our stay here. The only thing is we were told there would be breakfast. When we went to have some there was only toast ad donuts. We were very disappointed.

The appearance of the hotel was mixed. You can tell they are trying to up-date and clean this building. Close to the lobby they had replaced the carpet, but after that it was horrible. The smell was musty/moldy, the carpet has big holes and rips. I had to hold my breath until I got to my room. Everything had been freshly painted, which helped in the […] room...smell wise. The room was about 90 degrees. It took several hours for it to cool off. I had to set the thermostat down to 68 in order to keep the air conditioning running. I personally would have asked for a new room, but my husband does not like to make waves. We got a better price than what was advertised, which made this pill of an experience easier to swallow.
